To answer your question: I think no one mistrusted Doggett back then, when we watched this, the first time it aired, because we kinda knew the plans they had for this new main character, and the future of the show. They didn't even make it a secret. Of course they didn't give us future plot details. I won't say more at this point, because I know some people would see this as spoilers. But there was no way, Doggett would turn out as a bad guy. He might have the naivity of someone who"s not always saying or doing the right things. But in the end he's one of our heroes, and sometimes he does getting manipulated, because that's what happens on the show. With all the characters and even with ourselves. This episode was a heavy reference to Memento Mori, a season 4 episode. That was the one where Scully was diagnosed with Cancer, and Mulder broke into a facility to find answers about Scullys abduction, only to find her harvested eggs. It alsmost feels like a late continuation to this episode.

oh i loved loved loved this reaction. i was so waiting for it. i remember i screamed much as you when i watched those doors openning to see mulder behind them!!. i loved your conversation after the episode too: scully is in such ba vulnerable place, she can't trust anyone and mulder isn't there, it just so sad. about your question: i only remember being really mad at the beginning because mulder wasn't there so i was very indispuse to doggett but he won me over and i don't think i ever distrusted him more than a passing thought, in comparison, i did distrust skinner in the early seasons lol. and emily is totally right about real life dd an ga lol. oh, there's a behind the scene photo of them hugging of the mulder saying yes to scullys request scene, so they were indeed filming together 💗

Finally🧡the last thirty seconds had me cackling🤣

I mean, there were reasons to distrust Skinner in the first 2 seasons, he was very suspect. You wanted to trust and to like him, but something was off. I think it wasn't until "Paper Clip" season 3, when he told the smoking man to kiss his a**, that everyones feelings about Skinner changed dramatically.

Also, to clarify, all we know about Adam Baldwin's character from this episode is that he and Doggett go back a long time. In case you missed it, his name is Knowle. Obviously shady, but Doggett trusts him as his "informant" here.

I was waiting so bad for this one! Amazing reactions, as always! And I definitely had the same delicious surprise, back then, when I saw the elevators door open to show Mulder/David!!!

Thank you for such a great reaction! Wonderful to see how you reacted when Mulder appeared!

Such a fun video! I was also excited for you to get to this episode, it's one of my absolute favourites. I agree it is definitely super odd though that Mulder takes it upon himself to test her ova and some of that first scene feels like a repeat of stuff they told us in season 5 (even though the audience probably needed it in season 8). It does really feel like there's a change in their relationship through the episode too from the awkward but cute will you be the father of my baby scene to the end where it feels like two people who are involved. I loved Emily's reaction to what Mulder's last line implies about their relationship too.

Ahhh yes...forehead touch followed by a kiss. We were so well fed in this episode.
