Shelley you were correct about the Apollo Keychain. Mulder gave it to Scully on her Birthday in Tempus Fugit 4x17. That was the episode Pendrall was killed.

Leyla Harrison was a great fan fiction-writer from back in the day and I guess this is a tribute to her (and all fans). She died from cancer just before this season aired. Love the old fan fic😂💕

As others already mentioned, the real Leyla Harrison was a big fan of the show, became very sick and unfortunately died, so this was a tribute to her, and kinda like a tribute to the whole fandom. And yes, the keychain was Mulders birthday gift to Scully, in 4x17. I liked all the callbacks. Liver eating mutant = Tooms, Alien that shed its skin = Aliens in the movie, creatures in the woods = Detour (season 5) and of course the spaceship in antarctica (movie again). Also the coins (callback to Dreamland) and Queequeg of course.

Not an episode I like, but the reaction video is awesome. Others have explained well about Leyla Harrison.

MCJS

I still read Leyla Harrison's fanfic.

James Otis, the actor that played the father in the wheelchair during the cold open is also the same actor who plays Famine in SPN "My Bloody Valentine"
