The title for this episode is alphanumeric for FUTURE the same as the Restaurant where the episode starts but the name of the restaurant is Japanese for Future!!! By the way this is my second favorite episode of the revival!!!

MCJS

The title translates from Base64 as, 'Followers.'

Regarding the, 'reboot,' I know what I am about to say will seem crazy to some people, but here goes: To me, The X-Files is like a cake; it has many ingredients and each one is essential to the whole. Now, if you have a cake recipe, how many things can you change, (leave out, add, alter,) before it becomes a different cake? In my recipe for The X-Files, there would need to be Mulder and Scully, (as main characters,) Chris Carter, (I am not a Chris Carter apologist, but the whole programme was his creation and he was involved in every aspect of it,) and unexplained phenomenon. Also Mark Snow's music. If these things aren't there, IMO it isn't The X-Files. I don't care how well written, clever, scary etc. it is, it won't be The X-Files and it shouldn't be given that title. The X-Files isn't a franchise, don't treat it like one. To me, it's trying to profit off of the name and reputation of a classic programme. If you want to make a scary programme about paranormal phenomenon, do it, but don't call it The X-Files, because it's not. Make your own programme and give it your own title. Apart from anything else, THE X-FILES DOES NOT NEED A, 'REBOOT.' (Apologies for shouting!) Just my opinion.

It's a funny episode but everyone who knows Scully even a little bit, knows that she would never live in such a house. I mean, did the screenwriters forget how her old apartment looked?

MCJS

Thanks! Good to know it's not just me.

Demijan Omeragic

Same here. I think the reboot is destined to fail and damage the franchise even further.

Demijan Omeragic

No, they did not care about continuity in the revival, even the most basic things. Everyone was doing their own thing pretty much.

MCJS

I do like this episode. I like seeing Mulder and Scully just being together. I like their outfits (!) I like seeing them on their own in their own places. It's good to know that Mulder is just as eccentric when he's on his own! Also, the blobfish was real, or as David put it in an interview, 'an actual dude.'

Wolfgang Engel

Fun fact: The episode was written by Kristen Cloke. We saw her before as an actress in the show. She was the woman who knew Mulder from past lives, in that reincarnation episode "The field where I died", season 4. @Shelley The season one episode you were looking for is "Ghost in the machine", it was about AI. "Space" was a different one about the Nasa Shuttle program. But you are right, "Ghost in the machine" also came to my mind, when I first saw this episode. And yes, it was clearly their take on Black Mirror. But to be fair, I think Black Mirror does it better, it goes deeper on an emotional level and really makes you think. But I enjoyed this episode. It was an interesting creative decision, to make an episode with barely any dialogue, and Mulder and Scully just being Mulder and Scully, without the FBI and without a case.

This why The X files "fandom" is toxic

Baconbob23

What *IS* Mulder looking at on his phone?hahahah Before the last video you do about the x-files...You need to go back to Davids podcast with Gillian and listen to the part you skipped, on the reason why she doesn´t want to do more x-files. I´ve also read she is more inclined to do it with Ryan Coogler, but I have a hard time to see David doing it...if you listen to his more "recent" interviews and that it is not the X-files without Carter. For my part, I am not interested in a new season of the x-files without Mulder, or both Mulder and Scully.

Demijan Omeragic

Are we supposed to love everything that has "The X-Files" written on it?

MCJS

I really don't understand this massive generalisation of a comment. I don't see anything, 'toxic,' just differing opinions. We're not obliged to all agree. It's a bit much to condemn the whole fandom.
