As far as I know, they wanted to have Doggett in the Revival, but it didn't work out due to scheduling issues. Robert Patrick was too busy. Beside that, it's kinda shocking to hear from Chris Carter how everything exactly went how he always wanted. Really? I think he always had this plan for William. And I know that he confirmed that the shocking twist from My Struggle III, already had been his plan since season 7, "En Ami". It's not that he desperately grabbed for something in the revival, because he ran out of ideas. He knew what he did, and he thought it was brilliant. That's..........sad. I don't know what else to say. 😆

I don't trust a single thing Chris Carter says. Plenty of his quotes are incoherent.

You might be right. Just recalling what he said in interviews.

“Well, I mean what is closure? You think you have closure and then all of a sudden, what you imagined was finished or done or past comes back somehow in the future. Just like life itself. So I think until a character dies, there’s no complete closure and so far in this season, we haven’t killed any main characters.” (Chris Carter @ NYCC 2017) “We’re not used to Scully looking up at UFOs. We’re not used to looking at Mulder at death’s door.” (Promo video “Season 10 Cliffhanger” – Nov 29, 2017) “We’ve really never explored the character of Walter Skinner” (EW.com – James Hibberd – Jan 10, 2018) “I liked the idea that he (CSM) was burned almost to death, yet survived somehow. Like the Devil himself, he can’t be burned by his own fire. It was a surprising, but not incredible, way to bring him back.” (EW.com – Darren Franich – Feb 24, 2016) “My feeling was that this had to follow perfectly from where the original series left off, but it didn’t necessarily have to take everything as gospel that had come before. I thought that was an interesting way to tell these stories. It was in keeping with what I’d been thinking about, certainly in keeping with the times that we’re living in.” (TV Insider – Michael Schneider – Jan 24, 2016) “I call it a recreation of the show.” (NIFFF 2015) And about Scully’s new baby, he said: “We always have the show in real time, so I would imagine that if we come back, there would be a passage of time, and Scully would have had that baby – or not. We might find out things about that child that are unexpected as well, so there are lots of unanswered questions and interesting things there.” (Den of Geek, Gem Wheeler – July 16, 2018)

Not all of these seem to be CC quotes. But yeah, CC is really bad in recalling his own lore. 🙈 Maybe that's why he often repeats the same things over and over again, in slightly different ways.

The thing with the closure....I often felt like he made these big closing twists (killing of the syndicate, killing the CSM, CSM shooting Jeffrey, ect.) just for the shock effect, because he didn't know what else to do, to end an episode with a bang. And some time later he regretted his decisions, had new ideas for characters he already wrote off and thought:"Who cares, I can write around everything."

Demijan Omeragic

Every single one of these is a CC quote though.

Okay. I was irritated, because you threw in different names.
