Great reaction, Shelley, I love this episode too, a teleplay by Bobo Berens and written by both Bobo and Meredith, and directed by Richard Speight, Jr. The significance of this episode was highlighted to us by Bobo via his live tweets (more of this in the reply) ... After this episode aired, the fandom viewed Chuck as no longer the writer of the series but is to be viewed as the network! lol ... since writers don't cancel shows, the network does ... The next episode is another Bucklemming one, another what-the-f*ck episode from the dreaded duo but in a good way … I love it very much so I hope you will too, Shelley, even though they are back to their typical Bucklemming shenanigans - i.e. the episode was full of canon inconsistencies and retconning but for once I REALLY DON’T CARE!!! ... lol … it was such a delightful one for me as it was another well-rounded episode and also full with comedic moments ... cannot wait to watch it with you.

I like this episode, that shot with dean and cas's hands clicking their glasses and cas just having dean again to open up to about how he feels is so nice 🥺, it feels so right, cas playing connect 4 with jack is the cutest thing ever, do you think he's letting him win on purpose? Loved cas's talk with Jody about Claire, omg can you believe this was their first time meeting!! I know I was shocked too but it's true cas and Jody never met before. Not chuck looking into the camera saying "the failed spin offs" 😭😭 referring to wayward sisters in an episode that tries to tie up that spin off's story at best as they can. Omg you blew my mind again with catching that claire/kaia destiel parallel! I never caught that even though I know Claire is a dean mirror but damn you're so right, cas saying that Claire losing both her love and her mom would kill her and that's exactly what happened to dean in the beginning of season 13 when he lost both cas and Mary, love your galaxy brain lol. Jack seems so human, he doesn't act at all like souless Sam from season 6, that's why I don't blame cas at all for thinking he still has part of his soul left, he has to, he expresses so many emotions. It was clear from last episode that there was still tension between dean and jack since both cas and Sam hugged jack and embraced him while dean didn't, he only just put one hand on his nick and looked him in the eye then looked at cas to get the affirmation that it's really him then looked back at jack then scene was cut with a transition, he didn't hug jack Till this day I still use "sir, this is a radio shed" 😂😂 also chuck saying I created the world and the screen immediately show dean and cas sitting next to each other on the kitchen table so true of them, dean & cas are my world too 😂

Bobo made a remark in his S14 The Spear script that he intended to revisit the Dark Kaia arc, as follows: NOTE: Dark Kaia's secret intent is to save KAIA from the Bad Place. But we won't confirm and explore that til a later episode. via link: Production Draft page 26/46 https://drive.google.com/file/d/1HPbd-aUf1JAsXwhtX9pA1yktFsRqKsqz/view Also from Superwiki:- Chuck: I don't need more! More things, more distractions? I need less. It's time to clear the board. All the other worlds, alternate realities, the subplots... the failed spin-offs... It's time to start cancelling shows. - The "failed spin-off" comment is in reference to Wayward Sisters. Writer Robert Berens tweeted after the episode "The arc of S1 of Wayward Sisters was always going to be broadly Dark Kaia vs the WaywardSisters, culminating in Kaia’s rescue and Dark Kaia’s tragic defeat. I always wanted to make that death right. But with limited real estate on #Supernatural I had resigned myself to Kaia just being dead. It was only by embedding it in S15 stories (Chuck, Jack’s return to the Bunker, Billie’s plan) it felt like it was possible to tie that loose end in a relevant and appropriate way. In addition, Chuck destroys the Bad Place in the episode which had been created for the Wayward Sisters spin-off. Billie: He had no choice but to build Himself into the framework. It's His only weakness. - Billie explaining Chuck being a part of the framework of existence, is similar to Chuck telling Sam and Dean that he had written himself into the story in 4.18 The Monster at the End of This Book.

Highlights of Bobo Berens' tweets during the airing of the episode:- - Originally this Connect 4 beat didn’t exist, but @dicksp8jr wanted a header and we let him and Misha riff out this beat. #supernatural - Kaia hugging Dean at first sight was important to me. As much as the gun incident weighed on Dean (and as much as Dark Kaia played that guilt card to get in his head) — Dean’s a hero, and saved her. #Supernatural - Post show commentary! #Supernatural At the beginning of the season, Jared and Jensen spoke with the writers about the final season. Most of the convo was about the ending, but when loose ends came up Jensen made a point of wanting part 2 of the Dark Kaia spear saga. - I felt it was important because Dark Kaia’s promise to Dean in 14.09 was so loaded, and we never resolved it. (The plan was to do it in S14 but it didn’t happen.) That Jensen agreed it mattered gave me some steam to push for it. #supernatural - But this season is very heavily serialized and finding an actual place for it became really difficult. The opening really came when me and @Merecuda realized we needed a consequential Chuck episode to bridge the season around ep 12. #Supernatural - At various points, the idea for the ep was far wackier, with a more hands on Chuck. But the core idea was that Chuck would be ending worlds, and we could use Dark Kaia to tell that story in a reasonably contained way. #SupernaturaI - Which allowed us to tie off another loose end— real Kaia. The arc of S1 of Wayward Sisters was always going to be broadly Dark Kaia vs the WS, culminating in Kaia’s rescue and DK’s tragic defeat. I always wanted to make that death right. #SupernaturaI - But with limited real estate on #Supernatural I had resigned myself to Kaia just being dead. It was only by embedding it in S15 stories (Chuck, Jack’s return to the Bunker, Billie’s plan) it felt like it was possible to tie that loose end in a relevant and appropriate way. - The episode is about Sam, Dean, Cass and Jack reintegrating as a family unit in time to face the fight ahead. And by saving Kaia, despite the risks and odds, affirming their shared values. The candy in the middle, for me and those who care about WS, was saving Kaia. #SupernaturaI - Anyhow it’s an unusual ep in many ways— a lot happens, but there is also a lot of tablesetting for things to come. And we were so lucky to have the cast firing on all cylinders, and Rich directing the shit out of it. It has a lot of integrity in its execution. - (Q from fan) Did the boys know your presumably planned arc of s1 Wayward in terms of returning our Kaia etc? Or did they think she was truly dead? - I don’t think they knew that part. I think with Jensen it came down to tracking the fact that Dean had broken a promise onscreen, wanting that resolved— mixed with, I suspect, that he’d enjoyed shooting his last fight with DK.

Great reaction as ever and Hasnaa and rose mnor already said pretty much everything - but I was so glad you spotted the ominousness of Cas talking about Jack fulfilling his destiny. Dean's no better in saying that payback would be sweet. Revenge and destiny have never been good things in Supernatural! It's so good to see the Dean and Cas reunited and clinking glasses that it's easy to overlook this, but I think they're both showing complacency here. When you said that they could just throw everyone – hunters, witches, Death, heaven and hell – at Chuck, didn't they try that in season 11 to defeat Amara and it didn't work? And they had Chuck on their side back then.

Really like this episode.

Always a big fan of your comments, always on point 🫶🏻

Supernatural... the only show where people dismiss and willfully ignore the leads for the B and C plots. This fandom is fascinating. ETA: Also going to be interesting to see Shelley's take on all the handsy stuff coming up later in the season.

This backstory is very interesting, thank you.

Love your comments as usual, always very informative

Was the flashback to Dean and Death's first date in season 5 really needed since it just made Dean look dumb and we already all knew this? Billie is still nowhere near the same level of effortless gravitas and charisma that OG Death had in spades so that scene hurt twice as hard. They are trying too hard with her look, cheesy scythe and then the BOOKS - even though they are apparently are not written in stone. Between her and god, the monologues are tedious as hell! Jody never met Castiel but neither did Garth who named one of his sons after him. So glad we cleared up the important info in this high octane, tension filled final season. Hopefully we can get a chance to find out what Bobby's blonde neighbor is up to and if the wood chipper is working still. Sorry this one was just so awkwardly out of place, lacked connections with a bloated cast while still managing to kill some more people who shouldn't have been there at all and never let up retconning other retcons in a season of exaggerated retcons.
