FIRST UPDATE: So, I tried to just quickly swap out the old audio with a new file that fixed the beginning, but then my hotel wi-fi dipped out in the middle of it and the original post is all fucked up so I just created this brand new one. I accidentally unmuted a file while editing the episode, so that's why the start had audio form the episode on top of it.

OTHER UPDATE: Also, I call Robin Quivers "Robin Givens" the entire episode. It never occurred to me that was wrong, which is crazy, because I know who Robin Quivers is but I am essentially totally unfamiliar with Robin Givens. anyway, apologies to both Robins Quivers and Givens, although I still maintain that Robin Quivers is still a real piece of work (she was a great broadcaster, though.)

Fucking hell, okay, anyway, this file should be fine. Here's the original description:

First ever guest Jeff D'Silva returns to discuss something that would change at least two lives (Bill Maher's and mine), the very first episode of Politically Incorrect, as well as the early hype(???) that swirled around it. Oh, and Morton Kondracke was on the McLaughlin Group all the time, so now the reference makes sense.

Here's the video I referenced but couldn't remember the name of the account that made it: https://youtu.be/c6692U1AD54?si=I2JYPnFeDa9EaGEz

When you were talking about pre-South Park Comedy Central shows, I was surprised you didn't bring up Mystery Science Theater 3000. In fact, the first time I ever heard of Politically Correct with Bill Maher was during an MST3K ad break when Penn Jillette (the network's announcer at the time) informed viewers what time it came on.

I considered bringing it up, but because it technically started on like Minnesota public access I didn't think it was technically a "Comedy Central show".

Jason Samuels

Fair enough I suppose. An early local version of the show originally ran for seven months on an independent station in the Twin Cities area that was called KTMA TV-23 at the time. After that the national version was picked up by The Comedy Channel in 1989 where it aired for two seasons. The Comedy Channel eventually merged with its competitor HA!: The Comedy Network to form Comedy Central in 1991 where the national series continued. At the time, I think MST3K would have been the only show making new episodes specifically for either network that actually survived the merger. Since the episodes that were airing on the network were made specifically for them instead of old movies or reruns of shows from other networks, most people thought of it as a Comedy Central show that was there since the beginning. However you're technically correct.

Kudos To You

Question, what is a "jib jab"? You guys kept referring to it but I have no idea what it is.

Will Weldon

I guess I would explain it as a jibjab is essentially when you put a photo of a real person's head on a Terrence & Philipesque body, and then it is animated to do things. There were popular in ecards.

Togas?!

That AIDS ribbon joke makes me want to do bad things to Bill. Can you bleep comments?
