Also, I think Maher confused the rumor that Rahm Emanuel might run for DNC chair with the idea he might run for president, which is something I have not heard anyone else—even the worst, most conservative Democrats—suggest.

On Bill's grouping protest of the anti-trans book with our government's unlawful arrest and ongoing detention of an activist w/ no criminal charges against him: as you allude to, both-sidesing is Bill's bread & butter. The right's disregarding and dismantling of our rights/institutions/social services/global outreach is presented on the same level as "but trans!" because Bill must feebly maintain the image of the reasonable man at the "center" unafraid to skewer both sides ...
