Boy, I do NOT love editing these solo episodes, it's a little too much me for me taste.

Bill from this episode: "whatever he does there on the phone" Bill from Club Random: "I call it the magic light box 😏"

Cclear: watch He Walked by Night (1948)

What do you think BM thinks is the worst thing you can do: protest *for Hamas* (supporting the infitada), get vaccinated or wear a mask in your car?

Jim Allenspach

This is a good question. I would say protesting FOR HAMAS. He's been antivax for years, but he only brings it up when the topic of conversation is vaccines. He'll bring up the protestors at any point and it's always followed up by the "rooting for the planes on 9/11" "joke". That says to me he doesn't want to deal with the concept at all, and just thought about the topic long enough to come up with this dismissive line.

El Jefe Tacoma

For the first time since finding the show i almost stopped it and threw my phone. I'm getting hives from second hand bullshit

El Jefe Tacoma

omg thanks for saving me with the Reek reference haha

El Jefe Tacoma

oh my god im so angryyyyyy - women didnt invent those things BECAUSE THEY WEREN'T ALOWED TO GO TO COLLEGE OR HAVE A JOB

El Jefe Tacoma

and no women took part in wars? tell that to Harriet Tubman, Florence Nightingale, Mary Seacole, half of the Vietcong. I am dying this is torture what the hell is wrong with him?

El Jefe Tacoma

id love to see a demographic breakdown of how many women die in wars and i would be shocked if it was less than forty percent

Will Weldon

Yeah, come on man, let your sophisticated HBO viewers hear your hilarious magic light box bit

Will Weldon

He definitely is not thinking of anyone who fought with the VPA as a person

eeyoredragon

On a somewhat unrelated note, is it just me or does Neil Breen sound a lot like BM?

Aaron

Bro, the solo episodes are always you having complete mental breakdown. Keep up the hard work, you’re a hero for devoting your time to this body of work.

Aaron

Oh one more thing, have you heard the podcast “The West Wing Thing”? It’s a few years old but it’s basically your show but about the west wing. Dave Anthony and Josh Olson have a mental breakdown over the west wing

Aaron

I can’t with the end monologue wtf Is this? I want to puke

DBC

Dropping down to two panelists is a huge fundamental misunderstanding of what "worked" about the format of the show. You need the chaos of the third panelist to offset the staid partisanship of whatever dolt from the Heartland Institute and liberal squish have to say. Bill obviously thinks he is the chaos, but in fact he has less comedic chops than Diane Rehm. Bill always cites Carrot Top as the example of how his show needed to get more serious, but structurally you need the clown element to offset

DBC

The energy of the room. Otherwise, you're just talking to actual clown Dana Rohrbacher

Mosie

I’m sorry but your rage and devastation after especially bad episodes is so fucking funny

Will Weldon

I think he actually hates the chaos and thinks it's like, beneath him or something. He's too serious to have chaos on his show.

Mirkatte

Will, I love how much you hate Bill Maher. There was a moment near the end of the episode where you and I reacted to Bill with a "FUCK OFF" at the exact same moment, in unison. It was so validating.

DBC

While simultaneously believing that he is all the zany wackiness his show needs

Jim Allenspach

It's almost as if he isn't paying attention to the things he says

Brandon

I love when Maher is so bad you start to dissociate. It's like we get the Extra Wills as guests.

Rebecca Richards

One of the things I say the most when listening to this podcast is "WHY AREN'T YOU DEAD?!" when Bill is particularly horrific. Anyway this episode it was probably at least twice a minute if not more and by the final rant about men, I was probably saying it at the end of every single one of his sentences.

Shawn R

Wow I just finished this episode. I’m shocked Will was able to go on afterwards lol.

bouteilles de vin et polystyrène

So..after this episode, it dawned on me that Maher's stupid show being pushed onto a main channel, so soon after Telecommunications act really has pushed any "left" dialogue space even further right while hiding behind the façade of debate.
