Complicatedly Named Podcast Haver Tom Harrison is this week's guest, for yet another nonsensical episode of Real Time that is less "cutting edge look at current events" and more "grating conversation with your worst Aunt & Uncle who post way too much".

I'll be honest: this week I'm really struggling to write the description for this episode. I guess I could say "specifically they talk about this, this, and this", but I don't know, who cares? And I don't want to be like "we make some great jokes, such as" because if you've downloaded this you're almost assuredly going to listen to it, so why spoil the jokes? Really I'm just experiencing that thing where I finally bought something I had been thinking about buying for months, waited as the pants got hemmed, then finally brought it home, tied it on, and realized it's not going to solve any of my problems. It's a nice unstructured suit, and the parts can be worn as separates, but but it's also a little hot. I don't know, did I just simply get sucked in by the excellent marketing of those men's heritage clothing brands that seem like they were worn by fur trappers but in actuality they were started in Venice Beach a decade ago (I'm talking about Buck Mas on). Also, Los Angeles is about to get hit by it's standard October Surprise (an insane October heatwave) and this one's going to be fucking B-A-D bro.

Tom was a fun guest.

new rule: someone has to explain to will weldon how weird it is that this podcast brings me joy

Eli

oh lovely if anyone is wondering the last ditch segment seems to be from 51:02 to about 59:04, and then back again for mid show comedy bit??? at 1:07:50 to 1:15 (i gave up) (however on and off with a lot of transphobia/homophobia) additionally, the legal regulations around recieving care in the community (under the 504) are starting to be repealed/retracted. these are protections around not being institutionalised or similar things (https://linktr.ee/aapd?utm_source=ig&utm_medium=social&utm_content=link_in_bio). the way the last ditch story has been covered to hell and mocked by a large majority of ‘thinkers’ while the 504 is starting to lose some of its legal foundation are not exclusive and it’s not the only article like it in the last few months??? the telegraph published the really fucking shitty article about ‘sickfluencers’ and i just think someone should physically lock bill maher in a tiny apartment for months on end with no fucking supplements and see how it feels to be abandoned??

Fascinating bit of psychology going on around min 56, where Huberman expresses anxiety at the power imbalance of seeing/not being seen created by the covid mask. He reiterates the colonialists' anxiety regarding veiled women, explored in Franz Fanon's A Dying Colonialism (chapter "Algeria Unveiled"). Interesting bit of parallel patriarchial thought.

Really disorienting to have had a conversation about the movie House a half hour or so before I press play on this and get sold the sequel

Tom was great, really brought the hate we wanna see in a guest. Bill’s confidently incorrectness, per usual, was showing his full ass to us (eww). What an absolute dip shit he is

William

“New Rule: It’s not a crime when people from opposing parties work together for the good of the American people, and it shouldn’t be a scandal if they talk to each other.” Says the boomer who thinks DSA members are all communists and that any progressive or left-wing politician should be barred from ever holding public office. Jared Kushner holds neither an elected nor an appointed official position, and yet he is engaging in acts of corruption and graft typical of kleptocratic regimes. He is neither a member of Congress, a senator, an ambassador, a government official, nor even an official member of the White House staff; yet Bill Maher is trying to gaslight his already moronic audience into believing that this is how government works. The most basic, dumb fuck, political science student in a freshman year Intro to American Politics class could see this and say “No, that’s corruption!” The fact that Bill Maher heaps praise on Trump for being an authoritarian strongman in this New Rule segment confirms to me that he is DEFINITELY in the Epstein files.

New rule: “Happy dogs do not eat books.” 🙂

Confirming as a lifelong Seattleite that Will is correct, we’re very racist here, mostly against Asians but also against basically everyone! Anyways great guest great ep I laughed a lot and I fuckin hate Bill Maher

Robyn

100%! If you get a white liberal seattleite drunk enough they're likely to whisper something weird and racist against black people in your ear

Let us not let lie that in his little coda about a fuck around and find out boot in your ass president, he also mentions V for Vendetta (a terrorist anarcho-Antifa dude who assassinates corrupt fascist government officials, just like those who populate this néo-nazi crime family of an administration) and "Say hello to my little friend" (a line said by Al Pacino in Scarface, a movie about a cocaine kingpin, aka a drug dealer). So there you have it. Bill wants compromise and congress (as in the act of coming together and meeting, although there is the phrase "sexual congress", which is just the act of coming together), but sites V, a far left radical who committed violence on those who disagreed with his politics, and Tony Montana, an ultra violent drug kingpin who murdered people he disagreed with, even cops. Fuck this man has no consistency or even any understanding of what he's mad at. What was it the Car Talk guys said? "Unencumbered by the thought process"

Eric F.

The "disrupting supply" bit drives me nuts. As if there are fewer 18 wheelers going from Nuevo Laredo to Laredo. What evidence is there of that? Murdering fishermen seems....unrelated.

I really really like it when will references hellraiser. I think the franchise resonates with him because he’s a masochist

trasparenti

There is no better reflection of how "hip" and "with it" Bill is when his mid-show comedy bit from September 2026 is based on "news" quite literally covered by Vice in the year of our lord 2017

HyPOsexyality is different than hyPERsexuality and Bill "Big Brain" Maher clearly doesn't know the difference

Mia Walden

Bill Maher is so fucking embarrassing. I hate hearing him talk because it gives me secondhand embarrassment that he belongs to the same species as me.

Liz

Based on his story about her at the beginning on the show, I think Tom's Wife needs to be a guest. Also, I would not show Bill Space Dandy because he would eventually start whining about the fact that Boobies isn't a real restaurant because of the Woke.

LiteraryNugg

Funny how he can pronounce Netanyahu but Mamdani is just impossible

Doll House

Mia!!!!! this comment is so funny ❤️❤️❤️

Hey guys since Will is behind and we’re all waiting on the next episode drop, here’s a fun drinking game me and my friends do while we wait (all with love!): take a drink whenever Will says “it’s that thing of like…”; take a shot whenever Will mentions how tired he is because he has a newborn, finish your drink when he mentions his wife is bisexual. Also fuck Bill Maher so hard, keep up the good work Will!

I've never heard of this podcast until Patreon recommended it in my feed. I tell people all the time that Maher is one of my top 5 "with a hammer and if I wouldn't go to prison" wishes. Thank you for this wonderful program
