I’ve gotten some very kind messages over the last few days. And I want everyone to know they’re appreciated, even if I haven’t had the energy to respond. In the wake of the 2024 presidential election, people have been asking if I’m doing okay. And the answer is sure. I’m doing okay. Ish. I’m Black and I’m gay and I live in conservative-controlled, wildly mismanaged Florida, and all that has afforded me a sort of….realism, when it comes to politics. I’m disappointed with the results, but not at all surprised.

I am angry, though. And I’m tired. Very tired to continually vote to improve everybody’s lives just a little- and have it shouted down by folk so fixated on seeing the right people get hurt that they don’t care that they themselves have stepped into the crosshairs. Trees voting for the axe. I’m tired.

I haven’t really been in the mood for speculating on what went wrong, or trying to come up with feel-good platitudes. The fact is, life is about to get exponentially worse for many, many people. All Americans will be impacted, no matter their age or income level or location. Go read up on Project 2025, don’t let yourself be caught off guard. Of course, it won’t come as a quick lightning bolt that instantly snatches away everyone’s civil rights. The changes will be slow and careful. But they’re coming. Brace yourself.

All this said, please, please don’t give up hope. You can be upset, you can be afraid. But never, never lose hope. People have suffered throughout history, and they have still managed to live lives full of meaning. They still fought for a better world. Keep living. Keep fighting. Get involved in local politics. Form communities. Maintain your friendships, make new ones. Hold your loved ones close, tell them that you love them. Leave nothing unsaid. Treasure every day. Make art. We fight back when we create. We fight back when we tell our stories. We fight back when we love. We fight back when we live. Existence is resistance.

I’m not going anywhere, dear patrons. I had a cry, then I dusted myself off. And now, the show must go on~

This meant a lot to read. Thanks Lop. ❤️

MiyaLaFlorDorada

I'm so sorry sweetie, nobody should live in constant fear for their lives in their own country. I'm from Chile and I'm still living here, so I know very well the pain and anxiety of a government full of ignorant fouls that are harming you nation and life. I send you all the love, care and hope. Te deseo a ti y a todos los que están pasando por momentos difíciles un mejor mañana 🙂‍↕️❤️‍🩹🌟

Lammergayier

I've been thinking of you a lot the past couple of days Lop ❤️ please stay safe. Is there Any possibility of you being able to move to a different, safer state? I understand not wanting to leave and it's bullshit that that's something you should even have to consider, but there are many people willing to help queer folks in red states get to safer places

mailebird

Hear hear. I feel as though my wings have been clipped but my teeth have grown sharper. I've had my exhausted shower cry, where I wept for the women, lgbtq+, immigrants, people of color, and even those who voted against their own self interests. But I won't give those who wish me and people I care about harm the satisfaction by seeing me broken. Through this I have found resolve, I resolve to laugh and smile as much as I can. To spread as much joy and love and loan what strengths I have to those who need it. I'll not let this darkness win.

Robo87

I’m exhausted, honestly ;-; But I’m not going to have extremists turn this country into their 1940’s wet dream. We’ve come way too far to go back now Sending love to you, and everyone here 💕 💕 🌈

Robo87

(Also sad trio cuddles yesssssss)

pookaWOODS

I would like to note here that anyone who is capable of moving and looking for a friendly blue state, I would recommend New Mexico, where I live. It's fairly affordable compared to most states. I will help you get settled and introduce you to local friends with similar vibes.

pookaWOODS

Sending you so much love, Lopp. And everyone else here.

Gleeman and Artist

I live in an area that's half queer half conservative. I saw several trump signs put up by neighbors and one harris but there's a city with a huge queer community a couple miles from my house. I was hoping that harris would win but I wasn't surprised when she didn't. I've been going between numb and tired and angry that despite all the things trump did he still go in office. However I plan to do whatever I can to negate as much damage I can. I'm going to spend these four years fighting like hell to make the world a better place for the younger generation-for everyone- to live. I'm part of the queer community and I'm going to continue to make stories like that. You're not alone. Not by a long shot.

lopoddity

Oh yeah no dude, I'm definitely getting the fuck out of Florida, I've been planning it for years now. That was always gonna happen, election or not. I'm sad for the people who won't be able to leave, but also....did you you see the way we voted Tuesday? I am EMBARRASSED to be living here. I know everybody's still shook up over the presidential results, but for fuck's sake FL couldn't even legalize weed. We are a joke of a state

Strixcaliber

this entire week doesn't feel real. I still feel like I'm processing the implications of another trump term

PrincessMuffinArt

I just let out a big SIGH when I woke up to the results. It’s annoying to see how many people were so scared of the idea of a woman in charge so they turned against everyone and chose the worst option. It’s annoying but I’m so TIRED and scared and we just need to continue to fight and fight and not let the bad guys win. I live in a state thats really red and I really need to get out of here soon. Both me (AL) and my bf (FL) live in red states (some cities in said states are blue though) and we just sighed and want everyone to be okay.. I want everything to be okay. The more I block it out, it builds back up over time. So I just hope everyone can get through this.. Please, please, I just want to be okay. (I’m sorry if this turned into a mini-vent.)

Must Love Frogs

I've been telling all of my friends that I love them. Full on L word. I don't even give a shit. Love to Lop, shine your light.

lopoddity

Same. :/ Everything feels sort of distant and floaty. Did people really forget what his last term was like? I remember. When Covid first began and thousands of people were dying every day, I didn't have health insurance. I was able to get it through the ACA, but now we've elected someone who has an entire agenda to toss out the ACA and start back up the very same anti-regulatory measures that allowed the pandemic to spin out of control in the first place. It's like we're all on a sinking ship and people just voted to blast a couple more holes in the hull.

Lammergayier

As a Pennsylvanian I totally empathize on feeling ashamed of my state. That being said PA isn't the WORST place to be queer rn. I'm lucky enough to live right outside of a trans sanctuary city, and I have a strong support network. I'm more worried about other people than myself atm.

Kudamonochan

As a black, gay woman stranded in Florida as well, this message stuck to me. We can’t give up. Hang in there everyone!

ThyHauntedMansion

Fellow Floridian here feeling it💙 I cried myself but what really broke my heart was to explain it to my parents- who are older and avid on TikTok and with every video they saw telling them to be more and more sure of a Harris victory.. So when time came around and they were distraught, having to tell them that HATE simply could not be calculated or predicted in statistics was so hard🥲

Blizwolfthewolf

Black, queer, afab Ohioan here; I feel allllllll that and more. Not surprised, angry at a lot of things, trying not to be angry with myself for hoping... It's gonna be tough but the only way we get through this is together. 💜

lopoddity

If it helps, I don't think ALL of it was hate. I think apathy was the driving force this election, it's why so many folks sat out. Trump got less votes than last time, there was no sudden surge in his popularity. Democrats just...didn't show up. Again. I think for many of the folks that DID show up, they voted out of anger at the inflated cost of food, housing, and gas. Trump is likely going to make every one of those worse, but Americans put a lot of stock in the junk food on our shelves and the gas in our tanks, so when they felt it in their wallets, they blamed the sitting administration. This has happened in a pattern for decades. Republican tanks the economy, we vote in a democrat to fix it and get angry they're not fixing it fast enough, then vote in a republican who proceeds to tank it again. I think many Americans are simply shortsighted and uneducated (funny how our least educated states are the reddest, innit). But yes, also, racism and misogyny were in play, plus Fox News consumers voting so nobody will come trans their children or permit a woman to entertain the idea of having rights.

lopoddity

I was also angry at myself for hoping! Especially knowing how it went down in 2016. I feel for you, it had to be tough in Ohio. I thought for sure Ohio and Pennsylvania would swing blue. :/

gamigami

when the results were read out, i was on my period, in the depths of PMDD, all by myself in the dead of night because i couldn't sleep. and i didn't sleep. i think it was one of the worst experiences of my life. because i understand now. during trump's first term, i was just a teenager. i didn't really get it, i wasnt at all invested in many politics because that was "adult stuff". but now i understand all the issues, all the fighting of the marginalized groups before me, and how much harder our fights are going to be from now on. i keep crying int he middle of the night, for my family and friends trapped in that horrible country. we're in the process of moving but even when we move i fear we won't be able to get away from the effects. i wont lie i've had dark thoughts, but we all have to live on, because if we don't, they win. i dont want my death to be celebrated by the enemies, i want my life it to be celebrated by my friends.

ThyHauntedMansion

This actually does help a LOT😭 because it makes so much sense💜 god we’re in a fucking timeline loop💀

lopoddity

Of course you have to live on. 💗 Outlive him. Remember, they WANT us to give up. Don't give them the satisfaction. Live on for yourself, for your loved ones, for all the wonderful new things in the future you have yet to experience. And if all that fails, live on out of spite. Fuck em!

lopoddity

Skye don't give a fuck about Bruce cuddling her boyfriend now

RagingRiptide

I am sending you my best regards Lop ❤️ this election felt so defeating, and it's something I'm struggling to come to terms with. As a trans woman in the deep south, I'm seriously considering leaving, but it's so much easier said than done. The hopelessness feels overwhelming, but as you mentioned, we can't give up. We have to keep living and fighting, no matter what.

SmilesPerHour

Sending big hugs your way, Lop. I’m so sorry that things turned out this way, but my support for you stands strong. You’re a really cool person and a talented artist, and I’ll stand up for what’s right. We’re all here for you

lopoddity

Thank you so much, I can't tell you how much that means to me. 💗

Sierra Rosie

Much love to you, Lop 🫂💕 the idea of what's to come is so fucking scary, I've been so sad and paranoid the last few days about who I can trust. I'm thankful to be in New York where blue Manhattan carries our votes, but where I am in Long Island may as well be red 😭 My heart goes out to everyone that's going to be affected. Stay strong, and if hope doesn't feel like enough, live and love out of sheer spite 💙

ElementInfusion

I simply could not believe the way this election went. I got no sleep that night, watching it happen, and was so... empty and wrecked I had to take the day off work. I'm terrified of what's coming... I'm a white guy, Pan/Aro, so it somehow feels like it's only Adjacently-affective to me specifically, but I have family who are in direct line of fire to this... friends who are only a couple of years into adulthood who are trans that are going to be directly targeted by this(the children of friends I practically watched grow up and go through their transitions)... friends in my community who will be in danger of having their marriages nullified or even recriminalized... all the women in my family are concerned for their rights and their futures, my sister is about to have medically necessary hysterectomy and treatments, what if something keeps her from getting that care she needs just because it's to do with her reproductive system that the upcoming regime tries to deem the property of the state? It just seems bad all around. But it is at the same time somewhat comforting to see artists and community members like yourself stepping in to try and give folks a bit of hope to hold onto. Thank you for that.

LezzyBug

Bisexual Genderfluid lad here and my goal is to outlive that ugly hate-filled orange along with my friends It's gonna be tough for me and a lot of my friends, but I'll be damned if I let that fucker snuff us out

Lammergayier

I think another contributing factor is the fact that a lot of people either voted third party or just straight-up refused to vote at all as an act of protest over what's currently happening in Palestine, which... I have a lot of conflicting feelings about that that are probably best Not discussed in Patreon comments. That being said, even if Harris had every single third party vote, she still would have lost to Trump :/ it paints a grim picture

Haselwoelfchen

I don't know what to say, but I want to say something, so everyone can see how many of us there are who won't give up. I just realized your Patreon page feels like a safe space, because I barely ever write anywhere on social media, but here it's chill.

Benjimator

Is it a rare occasion for all three of them to cuddle? Or has they started gradually getting comfortable with all three of them cuddling?

lopoddity

Thank you! <3 I'm so spoiled on how chill and kind my patreon audience is, y'all have made it really, reeeeeally difficult to return to posting on public social media, I tell ya

owlcoholik

Yeah honestly this time around I’m not even most mad at the trumpies and hardcore republicans because living in Georgia most of my life has taught me most of these people think about their vote about as much as they think about breathing. I’m more pissed at the third party voters and people who decided not to use their vote because of some moral purity bullshit. Like congrats! Now things will be much worse for you and the causes you claim to fight for. But we soldier on anyway, I refuse to leave the south till they drive me out by force. I’ll stay here and work for things to get better while yall try to tear it apart. I’m glad to have a job where I get to help kids improve their future, it makes me feel less hopeless when I see that the next generation isn’t totally beyond repair fucked Also Bruce definitely seems like the kind of guy who only cries when he’s either super angry or upset beyond belief…ugly angry criers UNITE

lopoddity

It's definitely rare at first. But this scene (though not canon, no irl 2024 presidential election in FB) would be occuring a bit in the future. Skye is eventually propelled to move in with Sunny (and his roommate Bruce) out of her increasing frustrations/loneliness with city life and suspicions that something is going on between the pair. She trusts Sunny, it's Bruce that makes her feel territorial and weird. Sunny and Bruce have a casual closeness going on that only comes with living together, and it makes Skye jealous. If there's going to be any cuddly domestic duos around, it should be her and Sunny, NOT Sunny and that gross grumpy little manimal. Then she moves in and inadvertedly gets enmeshed in their closeness/domesticity. To the point where eventually no, it's not a big deal for them to cuddle as a trio. Bruce complains, but surely if he disliked those dumb dogs as much as he claims he would've simply bitten one of them by now...

Emily Lemur

I like to think Honey is quiet and uncertain of her future in a room of people cheering… And how much she’d rather be with her brothers and their family right about now, no longer able to deny why she feels that way. About them. About own family. About everything… She finds new resolve in this hour of uncertainty.

Emily Lemur

I say that knowing there’s no canon election- maybe some other significant event that Honey witnesses that makes her say “time for a new era”

Parabellum

Hey Lop, I hope you're doing okay. I also hope you haven't gotten any of the racist plantation texts either. If you have, I'm so, so sorry. People are targeting others and I feel it's wrong. We're all PEOPLE. No different than our neighbors or those living in a different country. I'm particularly upset about Trump planning to destroy SSI benefits. It is going to hurt so many disabled Americans, including myself, my boyfriend, and my mother. We're gearing up to move to Germany to escape it all. My boyfriend lived there, and their laws for the disabled are much more inclusive and they're much more lax about certain communities.

Lammergayier

Yeah I hear you. I'm currently not speaking to one of my friends because of this. I know for a fact that they didn't vote for Harris despite LIVING IN A SWING STATE where their vote would have mattered the most. But no, their moral highground was more important. I completely understand wanting to do your part to help people in other parts of the world, but. What about us, man? Are we really worth sacrificing to make that happen? I think I'm gonna be angry at them for a really long time. That being said. I don't think now is the time for mass infighting among us leftists. What happened happened, it's done. We need to stick together now. Because at the end of the day, while I don't approve of the choices of those who voted third party or abstained, especially in swing states, I have a LOT more in common with them than I do with Trump supporters, and as a community, we can outlive them.

D

When the furries on my Patreon have more empathy than my five family members

SmilesPerHour

Well, you mean a lot to us too, Lop. You’re our friend :)

D

Thank you for the reassurance in this. It’s odd, but it’s nice to hear from the folks in here and how they are responding to this. Glad I can hear from you as well

D

Yeah that sucks, I can’t even imagine. Well, I mean I can a little, I’m from Missouri, but thankfully St. Louis is super gay (and we just had a lot of progressive amendments passed! Thank god)

D

Thank you ❤️ I always forget that when I share stuff like this in the form of a joke, people would reply with comfort. like I forget the situation that I’m in isn’t the reasonable standard 😭😭 not trying to dump by adding this, just sharing the dark humor moment I had when I saw your reply and my stupid ass was like “why are they acting like I said something sad” 🤨

D

Eh this probably just sounds sadder. Point is we’re all out here just used to this shit and that’s wild

FloweryFruitFangs

This is solemnly and beautifully illustrated and written, thank you for this. I’m doing what I can to make sure my friends and family know they are loved and supported through this. This is a scary and uncertain future, but I’m not giving up. I’m going to keep fighting for a better tomorrow. Real talk, your pandoraverse era art was part of what helped me realize I was queer. It also helped with steering me away from a right-wing radicalization pipeline that was unfortunately in a lot of fandom spaces at the time. You’ve done a lot of good with the stories and characters you’ve created.

Alight

This was more inspiration than anything I've heard thus far (she said, having not yet listened to Harris' speech).

Violetattack

I've been struck down with stress related sickness from the whole election, but I really respect the attitude of having a good cry and then picking yourself back up. I can't say I'm not deeply terrified but it's a real fire under the ass to start moving, to dig my heels into the ground and continue doing the necessary, uncomfortable work that is inevitably going to pick up in intensity. I don't know a single person rn who isn't fucking exhausted by this but there's rarely been a better time to remember we keep us safe, and we gotta protect our rights, our beloveds, and the people who are going to get steamrolled by this w/o solidarity and collective action. I'm trying to hype myself up as best as possible instead of doing what my brain actually wants which is to try to become the first human to successfully achieve hibernation lol. Big hugs and support from NYC, y'all are fighting the hardest battles but you're not alone, red states aren't the enemy, just run by them.

Scorp

This was my first time voting in a presidential election. It felt good voicing my opinion through my candidate, but at the same time, waking up the next morning to see the result was crushing as it felt like I failed in some way. Of course, there was nothing that I or any of my peers could've done, but that fact makes it all the scarier that my life can be drastically altered by someone I didn't choose. I keep thinking of that line from the 2015 Cinderella remake: "Have courage and be kind." It's going to be scary going forward, but the most I or anyone can do is try and live our best lives in spite of it and try to make things better for ourselves and others in any way possible. Live your best lives and take care of those in need, nothing makes the republicans angrier than that.

knickknacks

I haven’t commented in a few days, but I did see this post when it popped up. I live in a swing state and the aftermath definitely left me feeling drained and discouraged- your words are a much needed reminder. I hope you’re doing alright, Lop. There are so many people still in your corner ❤️

Alight

I've been coming back to this piece a lot in the past… I don’t want to know how long it's been now. Original I saw it as a statement of solidarity, but now it's a promise and a threat; ‘What will be done to us will be done to you’. I don’t mean to be mean but there is some small catharsis there.
