Virgil: ....Okay, first off, hyenas aren't related to canines. We're our own distinct biological family- Hyaenidae- and we're taxonimically closer to mongooses and cats than we are to golden retrievers. I'm not a dog, Mason. You know that, right...?

Virgil is understandably anxious about meeting his boyfriend's wealthy suburbanite parents for the first time (wow this relationship is definitely progressing further than virg anticipated), and Sunny is NOT helping. don't worry, i'm sure sunny's dear parents are just as cheerfully problematic as their darling son. virgil's definitely in for a fun time

So did they originally have good relationship? Is Virgil still gonna become some dark cloud of Sunny’s past? They are so cute here either way, I love the detail of Virgil curling over himself hiding his paws around the cup, possibly subconsciously trying to appear smaller and less intimidating? And actually nervous to meet Sunny’s parents? I’m excited to see where this goes with their relationship as both Sunny and Virgil in both their fuzzbutts and pony counter parts. (Also random bit random but if you haven’t seen “Our Flag Means Death” on HBO max I highly recommend. Gay Pirates! Canon Nonbinary character who is respected and accepted with no issue, multiple queer relationships and even a bit of polyamory)

Thank you! Their relationship ends up going to some preeeetty dark places before it ended, but in the beginning, things were good. Very good. Virgil is an aloof guy and doesn't like letting people get close, so it speaks a lot to how annoyingly endearing Sunny is that Virgil cares about the guy enough to basically let Sunny unknowingly insult him to his face ("primal", srsly?). A crack in their relationship is already showing- Sunny is sheltered and largely ignorant/insensitive to Virgil's experiences, buuuut Virgil is willing to shrug it off (for now, anyway), because he knows Sunny meant no true harm. He might affectionately roughhouse with his bf later in private ("I'll show YOU how primal I can be!"), they're still in their honeymoon stage. Virgil very much wants Sunny's parents to like him, he's honestly kinda embarrassed that he's come to care this much over what a couple of dumb dogs think about him. I do plan on exploring how Sunny and Virgil first met (it's a cute lil tale) and documenting how their relationship bloomed, then crumbled.

I’m so curious how this goes! Hopefully not as rough as thier Pandora counterparts.. (which caused stormy to cope in not good ways ) but I sense there’s gonna be a lot of drama! Not that I mind some good drama writing from lop. *grabs popcorn*

Thanks! :) Virgil has a bio degree and extensive knowledge on many different animal species, since being a paramedic in this world more or less means being an emergency veterinarian. Never know what kind of animal is gonna call 911 for a heart attack or labor pains, so it's best to be as thorough as possible in one's medical studies. Virgil never meant to be a paramedic forever and actually wanted to be a medical doctor one day, but presently he's kinda stuck spinning his wheels, overworked and underpaid. He and Savannah barely managed to afford getting her through nursing school, so years of medical school for Virgil is a pipe dream at this point. :/

Haven't seen your art on dA for awhile (understandable lol) and figured you could use the support :) It's been fun catching up on all the art I've missed out on! (Pardon the animal nerd in me needing to point this out, but Hyenas aren't related to weasels, they're related to mongooses. Similar, but weasels are caniforms and mongooses are feliforms. With horizontal pupils! They're real weird.)

Thanks for the correction. :) In my head, I confused mustelids with viverrids. I was going to write genet or civet, but I wasn’t sure a ton of people would automatically know what those animals were, so I opted for the more recognizable “weasel”....forgetting that weasels are not part of Feliformia.
