Gender roles in FB tend to vary by species. Many animals are egalitarian (domestic dogs and cats are notorious for this), some are matriarchal (eg. elephants, hyenas, meerkats), and some still, like lions, deer, and kangaroos, position males as the "dominant" sex. The males are expected to be leaders, to take charge, to woo mates and fight off rivals. This sort of gender essentialism is remarkably outdated in modern society (no need to fend off rival males with claw and fang anymore), but alas, these gender roles persist.

Kangaroo culture as a whole still clings stubbornly to patriarchal gender roles. Males (bucks) can be up to twice the size of females (does), which can fuel social perception that does are weak and helpless, needing a big tough male to step up and defend her. There tends to be a cult of machismo among dude kangaroos, idolizing toughness, emotional restraint, big hulking muscles, and aggressive pursuing of the fairer sex. It's a mixed bag how well this goes over with the ladies.

Silver is thus a very typical buck. Raised since childhood to be a champion kick-boxer, he was taught to view most males as potential rivals, and most females as potential partners. Due to his strength and brash personality, it's never been a problem for him to be popular, admired, center of attention- and he's hopped through a vast cavalcade of groupies, party buddies, hook-ups, ect. And yet...all these relationships have never been more than skin deep. Beneath his obnoxious ego, Silver is...secretly pretty lonely.

Enter Logan.

Logan is one of Bruce's more irritating neighbors at the boarding house. He's dumb af, but he makes up for it by his boundless kindness, high on life personality, and pure earnest emotions. He has a way of seeing a person right down to their core and has a way of coaxing that person into opening up and being themselves around him. This makes him an excellent fitness trainer and a very handy guy to have around in a  medical emergency (what Logan does know he KNOWS. He can actually learn things and retain info very quickly with hands-on experience, and sports  medicine is something he loves almost as much as triathlons).

Silver.....really never met anyone like his Lo-bro and sometimes it startles him just HOW close they got, and how quickly. Logan is his first true friend. Having been raised by a loving single mom and four older sisters, Logan doesn't feel the need to aggressively perform an unhealthy version of masculinity, the way Silver does. Logan thinks nothing of it to talk about his feelings, cry, or love up on his best buddy in the way of honest compliments and bro hugs. Silver is wary of this at first, but comes to realize....he's kinda been starved for exactly this kind of contact? For his entire life. It takes him a while to relax, but it isn't difficult to start mirroring his best friend's warmth. Nothing wrong with homies hugging homies, or cuddling during a movie or holding hands or giving the other a kiss when they're sad. In fact, it might just be Silver's favorite thing in the world.

Logan isn't a professional fighter like Sil, but he's happy to spar with him sometimes for exercise and fun. Kangaroos fight by kicking, clawing, and grappling, and it can get pretty intense. It's important for bros to have a cuddle sesh after to relax and recharge~

I love these two. Kangaroos are one of my favorite animals so I'm thrilled to see them in FB

The way Silver's foot is tucked under Logan's tail...t-the way their tails are entwined. The SMOOCH. Oh lawd Im dying over the post WRASTLE after care bro-snuggles MY HEART 😭❤❤ Speaking of roo buck and doe interactions, I've long had an image in my head of young Fey in a bar or something and some block headed buck twice her size just won't leave her the fuck alone and this tiny pretty girl just HANDS HIM HIS ASS. I like to think before their family got torn apart and back in happier days it was actually Fey that got Silver interested in boxing, and it was a fun activity for them (it was Silas that later forced this as a way of life for Silver and rentlessly trained his son to be quicker, tougher, HARDER). I can see little Silver and his mum play boxing in the morning, Fey grinning and playfully throwing "jabs" at her son, and Silver grinning and "trash talking" her back and laughing when Fey would suddenly break form to scoop him up in a surprise kiss

Originally I was just gonna do a fluffy standalone doodle of Silver and Logan having a cuddle (maybe a little stoned, or drunk), the dialogue went something like this: Silver, snuggling into Logan's chest: I fuckin' love you, man. You get me like nobody ever has before. Wanna be with you forever, Lo. Wish there was....somethin' like marriage, but for bros. Logan, petting Silver's hair: Heheh......matribrony. Silver: Ha! If only, dude~ Their bond is such that I imagine they don't even really notice when it starts tipping from platonic to romantic, they don't notice they're basically dating until Bruce (maybe assisted by Skye) literally spells it out for them. Their response is shock and confusion ("Dude no way, we've never been on a date!"), to which Bruce probably points out Silver taking Logan on a whole ass extended Hawaii trip...ultimately ending with them going huh, guess we ARE dating.....and then being grumpy that they could've been calling each other their BOYFRIEND and KISSING and like, INTENTIONALLY DOING ROMANTIC SHIT this whole time I love that bit about Fey introducing Silver to boxing! It's funny you thought of that, cuz a doc I watched mentioned that a young kangaroo buck's first practice opponent is his mother. I bet he and Fey made up goofy wrestling personas for themselves, complete with bath towel capes and bandanna masks. Then maybe Silver tying a teeny bib-cape around baby Brucie before trying to fucking piledrive him I've been thinking about Fey in the pandoraverse, especially how passive she is in the story. She's kind of a terrible parent in her own right, Cutthroat is emotionally abusing her son for his entire childhood and she does nothing. Been thinking about making her a more active player in the story this time around. Possibly even still alive....and still straddling the line between loving/terrible parent, just in a different way this time

I literally LOVE this; I'm happy we're seeing Logan again :D Do Bruce and Silver's parents get a species change at all, or is wallaby dad no more?

Oh yeah pv Fey...my feelings for her are complicated. Like on one hand I do feel a lot of pity/sympathy for her. I've known people who have lost children and it devastating to see how that kind of grief can change a person. Trauma like that, and not having the support system to start overcoming it (and an abusive husband that lashes out at her in his own destructive grief) can make it feel seemingly impossible to get out of that black place and get help and start healing. So why try? On the other hand though she made the choice to not only continue with her pregancy of Bruce while being an alcoholic but to also continue her harmful coping habits throughout his entire life. It's my belief that if you choose to bring a child into the world then it's your obligation to try and be the best parent you can and not make your child pay for whatever unhealed trauma or issues that you have. I wish Fey had TRIED more, I wish she would have had a moment of clarity realizing she brought Bruce into a miserible situation and how unfair that was to him and if she didn't have the strength to try and get better then maybe she should have tried to get Bruce AWAY from it all (like maybe having uncle Buck spirit him away). I do love Fey but as easy it is to write her off as another one of Cutthroat's victims, the truth is a lot more complicated then that and she did her own share of being being a terrible parent, even of that was never her intension. If fb Fey is alive I'm very curious to see her having her own parenting issues and how that contributes to her sons and Silas In lighter talk I LOVE Silver and Logan having a romantic friendship and being dumbasses not realizing they are goofy goobers in luv. Silver: *rolling his eyes at Bruce* That's ridiculous, Brucie! I ain't in love with Logan! So what two bros can't be close without out them being gay for each other? Bruce: Of course they can you fucking moron but most bros don't post selfies of them kissing in front of a fucking waterfall at sunset! Silver: *offended* Oh sure I'm supposed 'ta see my bro glowing in the evening sun like that and NOT kiss him??? Get yer head out of your arse, Bruce

Thanks! :D Wallaby dad is indeed no more. Bruce and Silver's parents are Fey (a grey kangaroo woman) and Silas (a tiny tasmanian devil dad).

Bruce: You made fun of me. Because you thought I was gay. For literal YEARS. And now you're gay. For Logan. Silver, arm around Logan: I'm not gay for Logan, dude. Bruce: He is literally your boyfriend. Silver: Yeah, but that doesn't mean I'm GAY. Duh. Bruce, frustrated: Okay but- I'm not gay either! Silver, sternly raising an eyebrow: Oy, what's wrong with being gay? Bruce: I-!! Logan: yeah man don't be homophobic Bruce: A R G H
