Jude visits Savannah on her night shift. Sometimes Savannah wonders if Jude keeps her on as a friend mostly cuz of her proximity to cute babies.

I want to thank everyone for their patience with me this month. Recently I decided to invest in an (oldish) iPad, so I can make digital art wherever I want, even curled up in bed after a long ass day at work. This should result in more frequent uploads- concept art, sketches, random doodles at 3am. As always, I appreciate your support, and hope everyone is having a lovely new year. <3

I did something like this a few years ago when my grandma was in the hospital, she's alright, and I asked my mom if we could see the newborns. We went to the ward and the nurses told us we can't go in unless we have a relative back there. It was strictly off limits otherwise. At the time I didn't understand, but now at 29 and going through a whole panorama has made me realize why they did that.

I vaaaaaguely remember going to peep at newborns (through a window) when I was a little kid, though perhaps this was allowed because my mom was staying in the maternity ward and rules were a lot more lax back then. Jude gets to go peek at babies (through a window) so long as she's accompanied by Savannah....and there aren't any easily-spooked staff around that might be wary of a giant wolf squeeing over adorable helpless offspring

Babies babies babies! I feel you, Jude! I instinctively squeal when i see a cute baby! Precious little guys!

Ooh what iPad did you get??? Currently looking into perhaps getting one for myself for the same purpose lol

Gruff exterior but a big teddy bear on the inside 🥰

I know this isn't a super specific scene but, is that a Tuca and Bertie reference?

lopoddity

Not a deliberate one, no. A subconscious one though....eh, maybe

Newborn babie in a teeny hat and booties: *yawns* Jude: *bursts into tears*

An iPad 10 with a gen 1 pencil. Can't speak as to the user friendliness yet, still waiting on the pencil to arrive.

Have fun with the iPad!! I definitely really like the convenience as well. Also if you feel like the pencil’s a little too glide-y on the iPad’s smooth surface there’s some good screen covers out there that give the screen a more paper-like feel Also Jude is 100% me whenever there is a baby human or animal anywhere nearby

lopoddity

Thank you for the tip, so far I am indeed finding the smooth surface pretty jarring to work with. I've never drawn on a screen before, my drawing tablet is a plug-in model with a semi-grainy surface that simulates paper. It'll definitely take some getting used to!

DragonCookies

Oh yeah I used the same thing before slowly transitioning to an iPad! I know there's also pencil tip covers you can get to help reduce the glide, but the textured screen cover has helped a lot for sure!

Oh I FEEL Jude, I'd love to see tiny newborns too pffft Also glad to hear you're doing okay! I eagerly await your new pieces however long you take, as long as you take care too ^^

My iPad is literally my lifeblood, it’s super convenient for drawing wherever

Seeing how Jude acts towards babies, is this how she would have more or less reacted to Cass being adopted into the family?

Dakotaraptors

Jude is so baby I love her, oh my god

lopoddity

I still haven't settled on what age Jude was when Cass was adopted, but all she would've felt at the time would be jealousy and resentment. Jude already had a difficult time adjusting to her adoption process, going through very typical feelings of displacement and abandonment. Adoption, no matter how well-intentioned, tends to be traumatic for children, because children crave security and stability. Jude was uprooted from her care facility and made to adjust to living with a family of dogs that had very strict expectations for her behavior (for example, Biscuit did not approve of Jude's love of howling and gnawing on furniture). Eventually Jude is able to settle in as best as she can, and then Biscuit and Buddy go and adopt a new baby. Jude now gets to experience fear over being replaced and jealousy over her parents fussing over Cass. Bad times all around
