Hey Artnerds!
It has been a distressingly long time since my last update, and I feel your absence acutely.
What's been going on?
Editing and lettering 7" Kara Chapter 9 pages, but you will hear more about that in another post!
Working on a product linesheet to pitch to local businesses.
10 day migraine headache
Working on creating and teaching in-person classes
We hosted a livestream to celebrate my 13 year anniversary here on Youtube and discovered that my webcam may have given up the ghost. Since I want to host more livestreams and have even been curating art supplies and art kits to share via livestreams, we need to figure that out as soon as possible!
13 years on Youtube means I've created a LOT of really good art educational content that you may not have seen!
Playlists you HAVE to watch:
Comic Prep & Process: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xBvamwSIJl4&list=PL_pXBtCqjKy9fduSYuNplq_6OwkUwwp1_&pp=gAQB
Seriously, this isn't just for comic people, this is a primer on how to draw almost anything. People. Animals. Environments. Perspective. Planning art projects. This playlist was created while I taught Comics & Zines with Nashville Community Education, and I am SO proud of the work I did on this.
How to Draw ANYTHING:https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL_pXBtCqjKy9MeE0PIfBXtTbJ6pzLICKb
This focuses on using Volumetric Construction to learn how to draw and undrstand the world around you. Perfect for math minded folks who struggle with visualization. This is the method I use for drawing too! This was created for a four class series I taught with St Charles Parish Library.
Making Comics & Zines: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL_pXBtCqjKy-XFsZw7tc0B5Qy6AuVIUoJ
Another solid playlist created while teaching with Nashville Community Ed, this one is more focused on what the title says, with loads of inspiration for planning and executing your own art projects.
Start to Finish: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL_pXBtCqjKy9-JOzBNJgaQS4T8ZdrLk5g
Draw with me. Watercolor with me. These tutorials are all inclusive- I show you how to draw the project, ink the project, and then paint the project, but! my amazing Patrons also have exclusive access to the linearts, so you can print them at home and paint (or marker or color pencil them) at your own pace! I am so proud of the work that's gone into this series.
Watercolor Crash Course: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL_pXBtCqjKy8KKYLYLZoF7Cqd7PapdtHi
A series of basic tutorials to familiarize folks interested in diving into watercolor with the basics! This was created to help me prepare for classes taught with the Ascension Parish Public Library system, and inspired by a family member who was interested in picking up watercolor- I wanted something I could point them to in case they had questions.
How to Draw Flowers: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=luW52Uzqk7g&list=PL_pXBtCqjKy_NoOFHiLC10GDMYmDDywJf&pp=gAQB0gcJCWMEOCosWNin
This is like an OG playlist for me- I wanted to learn how to draw a variety of flowers, and I wanted to share the process with you guys! I've drawn so many different flowers since then, but it's thanks to my work on this playlist that I'm able to do so!
How to Paint Flowers: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5F__KeokpaU&list=PL_pXBtCqjKy9s3Iy67rPaUxxKwhvMd-8p&pp=gAQB
The natural continuation of How to Draw Flowers!
Composing Flowers: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tuR_S6vY9O0&list=PL_pXBtCqjKy92eUVaEaJq-AAHwQKz6bP2&pp=gAQB
A series of super short tutorials on how to draw a variety of flowers! For my friends on a time crunch!
Student Grade Showdown: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BS9gZspV6Ls&list=PL_pXBtCqjKy_zZfxhiAyNdl5tJh3CKCCx&pp=gAQB
While I am proud of my Professional Grade watercolor reviews, my Student Grade Showdown makes me smile. In an effort to broaden my own horizons, challenge my own biases, and learn how to work with new materials, I have sought out and tested a huge array of downright cheap watercolors to find out which are a waste of your money and which are worth your time and effort!
Stashbuster Bookmark Tutorials: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0IdaaUFf3wY&list=PL_pXBtCqjKy9HAYtpWJXPfjsvujh6OXy0&pp=gAQB0gcJCWMEOCosWNin
Use up your stash of watercolor paper with these very simple watercolor tutorials! Stars! Galaxies! Sunsets! Beaches! Flowers! A great way to use up that paper you've been hoarding, try out some new techniques, and no real drawing ability necessary!
Ok, ok, I know that's a lot, but that just means you've got company any time you decide to pull out your art supplies or even just clean the living room! What I've been working on (in seriously, no particular order):
Colourblock Watercolor Review:
Artistro Watercolor Review:
Grumbacher Fieldtest:
Prang Fieldtest:
Kuretake Granulating Set 2 Full Review:
I work so slowly these days, but surely I'll get these finished!
This week I'll be working on a landscape project for Art Lab and hopefully making progress on getting video edited and Early Access out to you guys! 7" Kara Day (7/1) is coming up, and I have an exciting announcement for yall!
