Proportion & Scale:
"Proportion refers to the relationship between different elements in a composition, ensuring that they are harmoniously balanced and visually pleasing. Scale, on the other hand, refers to the size of objects in relation to each other and the surrounding space. While proportion focuses on the relative size and placement of elements, scale deals with the overall size and impact of the composition. Both proportion and scale play a crucial role in creating a sense of balance, harmony, and visual interest in a design."

The difference between scale and proportion in art is that scale deals with the overall size of objects, while proportion deals with the relationship between the sizes of different objects.

Proportion is how large you choose to draw objects on your paper. Scale is how large the objects are when compared to one another.
Standard proportion is when you draw objects as they are, using natural proportions. Altered proportion is when you modify the size of certain elements for effect- also referred to as exaggerated proportion as it can be used for emphasis.
Scale helps give objects context- for example, a tiny watermelon, or a huge grape. By including another object in the composition, like a person, it gives the objects a sense of scale.
Exercise:
Draw a very small still life, 3 objects
Pencil Measuring
Have them redraw the objects
