Hey Artnerds!

Things have been a little better this week.

School seems to have started up again in my neck of the woods, and it feels like this summer both dragged on forever over here and sped by too fast. I think it's due to all the trips we took/are taking- only one was actually for pleasure, but it feels like I'm always on the road.

Speaking of on the road, my submissions for the second part of my Louisiana Crafts Guild application are on the road to Lafayette. I'm really glad I could get my submission finished up last week- I feel like there are so many goals in my life that I get to the 90% mark and then I get burnt out and by the time I feel well enough to pick it back up, I've lost my place, misplaced the pieces, something more important has popped up, or totally forgotten what I was doing and have to start all over again.

So one of my goals is to get offline more- specifically to get off social media more. Joseph's been putting in a lot of work revamping the website so I can update the shop, and I've been writing more here on Patreon and I have a pretty substantial YouTube backlog, so I can focus more on the Louisiana foods and festivals series and hopefully work on getting that wrapped up and a book made out of it. I have a couple of in-person shows on the schedule for next month (Livingston's Book Festival and Terrebonne Comic Con), just put in for a booth at RougaCon in October, and am talking to Cocodrie Collective about carrying my acrylic ornaments this winter. I've been working on a series of smaller illustrations for cards and mini prints, and once the website is up and updated, I want to revamp my line sheet and my Faire account. There's a lot going on, but I've learned that with how frequently things DON'T pan out for me, it's best to have a few different irons on the fire.

What I've Been Working On:

A Gallo Watercolor Review

Just need to do the final fieldtest (s?)

Fuumuui

After seeing some other Youtubers use Fuumuui watercolors as opaque watercolor, I wanted to give them another shot

These are so much fun to play with, I just keep noodling around with them.

With

This is a clutch-style pencil with watercolor leads, and I figured yall would be interested in hearing how it is as

It's heavily advertised on Instagram

It's very portable and travel friendly, so it might be a good one for doodling at work or at a baseball game

I've reviewed watercolor pencils in the past

These are actually pretty expensive for what they are, so I recommend watching before buying

The real magic is the 2.0mm watercolor leads. I haven't tried them in a regular clutch style pencil, but I've been warned that the leads are pretty fragile, so a clutch mechanism might shatter them. The pencil it comes with is like a huge mechanical pencil- no clutch mechanism at the front, it ka-chunks just like back advance mechanical pencil, it just has a huge single lead feed.

Viburnum Watercolor Palette Review is recorded and now waiting to be edited!

Moonpies

I am closing in on finalizing the sketches for my Louisiana foods & festivals series, but every time I think "ok, that's it" I think of a couple more. Right now, my FINAL finals are hanging around at

Chicken Sauce Piquante, the way my mom's Creole family makes it (with pickles and mustard, because hey, we got some German in us)

Mechacon (this wasn't my FIRST anime con- that'd be Numa Rei, but this con held a lot of milestones for me, and holds a place in my heart, plus I wanna draw Kara assembling a Gundam model, and even bought a Babby's Most Basic Sandrock model kit ((because Quatre was my favorite, yall are getting the deep Becca lore today)) )Saw Palmette (hugely important in historic Louisiana culture)

and maybe Spanish MossI'm actually preparing to make a sorta last minute trip to Texas this week for family reasons, so I can't quite dive into those just yet.
