Let's Paint the Northern Lights!

Hey Artnerds! I received a request to demonstrate how to paint the Northern Lights, and I thought it'd be a fun topic for a stream! In the past, we've talked about painting starry skies and fireworks, so grab your favorite cottonrag watercolor paper and paints, and let's get painting! Due to the nature of Watercolor (and painting in Louisiana) streamlength is totally dependent on paper drytime. This is a fairly simple technique though. Materials Used: Cottonrag watercolor paper (I'm using Fluid 100 for this) Favorite Watercolors- I'm Using: Daily Driver Palette (a mix) Naomi Palette (a lot of neons, fairly opaque colors, pastels) Van Gogh Dusk Colors Large watercolor brushes Salt Masking Fluid Mixing Surface (I'm using a small butcher's tray) Patience or a hair dryer (mine is still packed) Find Me Elsewhere: For Daily Updates: http://www.instagram.com/Nattosoup To chat: http://www.twitter.com/Nattosoup For more art tutorials, supply reviews, and con recaps: http://www.nattosoup.blogspot.com For convention how-tos: http://www.howtobeaconartist.tumblr.com To help support online art education: http://www.patreon.com/Nattosoup For my portfolio: http://www.behance.com/Nattosoup For digital downloads: http://www.gumroad.com/nattosoup For physical goodies: http://www.nattosoup.com/products For my comic: http://www.nattosoup.com/kara-comic
