I talk about it in way more detail in the vlog, but here's a brief outline of what I covered: What I wanted to accomplish in 2020 (pre-Covid)

Teach as many classes as possible while in Nashville- with Watkins, Little Arthouse, and Plaza

Finish Volume 2

Kickstart Volume 2

Get married

Move to Louisiana

Work with the St Charles Public Library

Start a private art tutoring business in St Charles Parish

Find or create IRL art opportunities that fulfilled my needs as an artist

Go to Kyoto for our honeymoon

Take more breaks and go on adventures

Find fulfillment outside of art

2020 Goals Post Covid

Get married

Move out of nashville

Create content that made people feel less alone

Create content that inspired people to use their time at home to start art

Create content that entertained bored kids, teens, and adults

Create accessible art content

Improve my video quality

Try to move the channel away from being so reliant on reviews for views, and share more tutorials

Create more accessible drawing tutorials

Work towards creating content only YOU can create- I want to find my unique voice, and that's becoming increasingly difficult

What happened this year:

Covid basically cancelled all of my teaching engagments in Nashville past February.  I lost a LOT of income in Feb/March, and a lot of potential job references, as well as a lot of teaching experience.

Joseph and I spent a lot of time at home due to quarantine- Nashville has had a lot of issues with Covid spikes

What I accomplished:

Successfully Kickstarted Volume 2 of 7" Kara with yall's support

Got married

Moved to Louisiana

Currently working with the St Charles Parish as a contractor, cohosting Art Squad meetups

Finished Volume 2

Created a boatload of accessible drawing tutorials, and plan on creating more as I work with Art Squad

Compiled Lilliputian Living into a perfect bound book

Shipped out almost all Kickstarter copies of Volume 2 (YAY!)

2021 Resolutions:

Up my video quality, while reducing the # of videos I put out

Do more studio vlogs throughout the year- let people get to know you

Make more comics, particularly the Cajun/Creole recipe comics

Finish out the 7" Kara Volume 2 Kickstarter- postcards, charms, commissions, ect

Create a polished pitch comic

Buy a house and move

Set up a workspace you love and can maintain

Create more finished, polished illustrations that tell a story and can be included in your portfolio

Update your store

Promote your store more

Do more Louisiana inspired illustrations, esp with Kara

Do more seasonal illustrations, esp with KaraDuring the vlog, I talk about taking a hiatus- I've already got January scheduled up with pencil reviews and watercolor vlogs.  I hope taking a break will give me the breathing space to come up with some great ideas- comic, illustration, and video-wise.  Hopefully it will also give me a chance to build up a buffer of early access videos to share with you guys as well.  As I decide things, I'll be sure to keep you informed! If you're curious abou thow I created this piece, and would like a walkthrough, let me know!  I still have the video files, and can easily narrate a how to on top of it!

🎆2020 Recap, 2021 Resolutions and Goals🎆- Vlog

Hey there Artnerds! Welcome to 2021! May this year be better, and kinder, than the last. Today I wanted to talk to you about 2020, how my goals shifted after Covid, and my goals for 2021. I also want to talk about some of the things I've tried here on the channel and their results- the good, the bad, and the ugly. I've shared my resolutions with yall in the past, and this year is no different, but I also touch on some of the issues I've had with burnout, and my upcoming hiatus. I'll talk about the hiatus in a standalone vlog as well, once I've thought about things a bit more. If you're interested in a walkthrough tutorial for the processes used in this video, let me know.
