Ok, ok! Last one for awhile! I like reviewing mechanical pencils in batches, and I am STILL on the lookout for The Perfect Pencil. Got a great suggestion? Lemme know!
Get Your Own: Shownotes: Milan Capsule Taped Shut $2.99 Purchased from David's Art Center AWHILE (like three years) ago .7 All plastic body Back advance no clip LARGE white vinyl eraser 'soft touch' body- the kind that usually rots to ick No grip, no give Chunkier body type, might be good for small hands Remove large eraser to fill pencil with lead Writing Test: Oblong body, fairly comfortable to hold Eraser is fairly decent Seems like, as you use up the erader, you can use the eraser's holder to pinch it to prevent it from going in while you erase? This system isn't as secure as the Twist Erase system Drawing test: Filling with pink lead Front advancement is fairly easy, good for filling with one off leads or quickly switching leads No give in the feed, so softer leads break easily, and you wont even know they're broken until they disappear into the feed Back advancement on this pen is a bit awkward, and the gap between the eraser cap and the front catches in my hand and pinches Not that comfortable to sketch with Softer leads break OFTEN in this pencil This is a bad fit for sketching Constant lead breakage- a lot of waste of expensive lead hard on my hand- no grip Drawing Test: It's ok for drawing, but not great for drawing. Verdict: This might be a good pencil for school age users, but I can't necessarily recommend it for children with grip issues, as there's no grip on it, and it's too large for a standard market cushion grip. I also can't recommend this pencil for artists- again, no comfort grip, an odd shape, and pinches the hand during quick advancement.
