Hey Artnerds!

It's been awhile! We've been pretty busy with househunting, but it seems like things have settled down, and HOPEFULLY this house is the one! We're just waiting til August to sign the final paperwork and pay up, and then hopefully the house hunt is done and house moving can begin.

Summer is about midway through- how has yours been? It's Hurricane Season here in South East Louisiana, so rather than fighting the humidity too much, I've been doing a lot of sketching and inking! While the rain makes watercolor not quite as fun, it doesn't stop alcohol markers from working their magic.

You can tell World Watercolor Month wasn't devised by a Louisianian, because we sure would NOT have picked the wettest months of the year! But if you live in an area that's slightly less humid, and you are interested in participating in World Watercolor Month, it seems like a fun challenge that'll help up your drawing AND watercolor skills. So as always, it seems like social media is self-detonating, taking artists down with it. This time its...its uh Instagram again, with a renewed interest in pushing still (like photos) content off the platform and focusing on video. Hey wait...isn't that TikTok? I still have that month-long Instagram Challenge sitting on my phone, waiting to be edited, so uh, maybe I oughta get on that?

That also means I'm going to try and be better about regularly sharing art in progress here to Patreon! Social media can make it challenging to be an artist- I frequently share finished art on Instagram, Twitter, Artstation, Artfol, Youtube, and even snippets to Youtube Shorts, Instagram Reels, and TikTok, but sometimes it seems like nobody even sees it! Talk about discouraging. I know the algorithm isn't in most artists' favor, so I try to stay upbeat about it, but finding ways to better share my art with the people who want to see it is important to me. It's always tempting to adopt YET ANOTHER platform, but rather than spreading myself even thinner, I think it's time to refocus and work on improving what I have going.
