Hey Artnerds!

So as yall know, I live in South East Louisiana.  And as you might know, Hurricane Ida is heading right for us.  Joseph, Bowie, and I evacuated to a safer place that has a generator, storm shutters, and plenty of food, so don't worry too much about us!  I'm not sure when we'll be back- this halted us mid-move, and we had to reschedule some things and ask for an extension on our rental home, so even if things go well and there's no damage or flooding, it may take a little while for things to return to normal.

Fortunately, I scheduled a few early access goodies for yall in advance!

Early Access:

So earlier last week, in between moving, stripping the wallpaper from our new home, and prepping for From Stick to Figure (one of my favorite classes, if you check it out, PLEASE let me know what you think of the presentation and if it's helpful for you!), I managed to paint and record THREE watercolor fieldtests!  I managed to wrap up the MIYA fieldtest, the Schpirerr Farben fieldest, AND the Superior foldable palette fieldtest!  I made a thread about it and talked about it a bit here: https://twitter.com/Nattosoup/status/1431346650161758219

Miya Fieldtest:

TLDR:

Inexpensive, but skip this.  It doesn't handle nearly as well as the comparably priced Meiliang palette.  Unable to handle most basic watercolor techniques, even on cottonrag paper.

Schpirerr Farben Fieldtest:

TLDR:  Much better than expected!  The palette is fun, but the half pans are a bit smaller than regular half pans, so if you want to reuse this palette, refill with tube watercolors.  More color selection than the other two palettes, and while some colors are ehhh, most are great.

Superior Foldable Palette Fieldtest:

TLDR:  Surprisingly good, and a lot of fun to use!  Larger half pans allow you to really get in there.  Chicklets are removable and can be arranged to your preferred palette.  Refills not available, so if you refill from tubes, be strategic.

Depending on the hurricane, I'll try to have these voiced and edited sometime this week, and hopefully out to yall as early access after screening them!

This Thursday is the #KidlitArtPostcardDay for September!  If you'd like to and are able, a signal boost (like, retweet, or even comment!) would tell Twitter that people are interested in that post and show it to more people, increasing the odds that a sympathetic agent or editor would spot it!  If you're participating, share the Tweet link on Discord after you've posted, and if I have internet, I'll try to boost it!
