Hey Artnerds!

I hope yall have had a good week- this week was a little calmer for me, and I feel like I got so much more done!  Of course, a lot of what I got done was creating videos and promoting them, but I feel like I'm also making some headway on my backlog too!

This January, I'm going to start offering some art programming for adults (yay!) with the St Charles Parish Library.  We're starting out with Learn to Draw Anything- a three-class series on volumetric drawing.  If that goes well, we're going to move on to offering some basic watercolor classes, and I've got a whole list of potential classes that I'd love to teach.  One of the things I love about teaching with the library system is that it makes art classes free and accessible to the public- but I still get paid.  It's win-win for everyone, and I'm really proud that I get to be part of the library, and bring my vision of free and more egalitarian art education to life.

That said, I really wish I knew how to promote my classes more effectively- promotion is an area I feel like I really struggle with.  It's not that I don't promote, but I definitely don't feel like what I'm doing is working.  With Art Squad, we had no problems attracting plenty of students in the early months, but now that we're meeting in person during the school year again, attendance has really dropped off.  I promote on Nextdoor, have given out fliers to parents and kiddos at shows, and share updates on what we'll be working on in an upcoming club meeting on Facebook.  Do any of yall experience promotion problems?  What do you do to help spread the word?

I feel like I probably promote too much, and come across as spammy or fake.  I feel like if I could do it more effectively, I could focus more time on making art or talking about art, and less time retweeting my own promo posts.  So gimmie your best tips on effectively fighting the Twitter/Facebook/Instagram/Youtube algorithm!

Arteza 12 Day Advent Calendar

I'm finally wrapping up the daily Arteza 12 Day Advent Calendar door openings.  Daily videos are always a mixed bag for me- I honestly enjoy, in smaller doses, the challenge of recording, editing, and releasing a video all in the same day.  Unfortunately, I know releasing videos daily tends to wear some of yall out- that's a lot to watch, even when I keep them short, and a lot to promote, and I know people tend to get really saturated after awhile.  So while I had fun recording this series, I'm glad it's just about over- I'm going to record the challenges as a single video, and create the overall recap.

Catch them all here!

Papercraftmas

I've shared almost all of the Papercraftmas papercrafts from last year as well, and am in the middle of making some new ones for 2021!  Since there was a positive response to my start to finish art query last week, these will be start to finish- blank page to final assembly!
