We've both graduated into a new month AND a new year!  I wanna share the best of 2021 soon, but for now, here's everything that went live in December!December was a busy month for me- two art kit reviews, two Advent calendars, FOUR student grade showdowns,  and SO MUCH ART!

Arteza Advent Calendars

I reviewed two art supply Advent calendars this year, both from Arteza!  I handled them very differently- the 12 day calendar had daily door openings, and I did all the challenges inside!

12 Day Advent Calendar:

And circling way back to those Advent Calendars!  It took a lot of nagging, but I finally got the 24 day Advent calendar in (too late for me to recommend it as a gift), and I tore through all 24 days to discover what's inside https://t.co/21aj4W0tJI

For my friends who prefer to read their reviews, here's my Twitter thread comparing the two Arteza Advent Calendars: https://twitter.com/Nattosoup/status/1472664951689031681

In the background, I'd worked hard to complete the 12 art challenges from the 12 day Arteza Advent Calendar!  I recap them all and talk about that calendar a bit more, as well as Arteza's acrylics, here: https://youtu.be/xVSRca1qIjk

Art Kit Reviews

I  tried Unboxing and Swatching a couple art kits live, and found that I really enjoy doing live Unbox & Swatch reviews!  It's so much fun to play with art supplies with yall!  It's been awhile since I'd been able to live stream with you guys, and I really missed it!

This ties in with my yearly goal of reviewing a few mass-market art kits, so I can recommend art gifts for those looking to give the gift of art!  I reviewed two Arteza mixed media kits this year, and I have two more kits from Walmart to review!  I plan on doing more livestreamed Unbox & Swatches, and hope yall will join me for the Daler & Rowney and Royal Langnickel kits soon! Here's the first 'live' Arteza Mixed Media Kit- the Arteza Metallic Mixed Media Kit!  I was surprised and impressed!

https://youtu.be/UDSggGwtPKsOf course, not everyone wants to rewatch a live stream just to find out if an art kit is half decent, so I also created timelapsed Unbox & Swatch reviews for posterity.  Here's the Metallic Mixed Media Art kit, IN TIMELAPSE:

https://youtu.be/5J-8c32EXA8I tried to select promising art kits to review, so I'm not wasting yalls time (or mine!).  Here's the second Arteza mixed media art kit Livestream- I had high hopes for this one, but it let me down!

And of course, the shorter, timelapsed Unbox & Swatch review:

Student Grade Showdown is Really Heating Up

I also managed to get a couple of contestants in the Student Grade Showdown reviewed and out to yall!  Here's my Unbox & Swatch review of the Seamiart 96 half pan watercolor palette

I also reviewed the Artibox watercolor palette from Singapore!

New Art Tutorials!

It's not the winter holidays on my channel without a few wintery art tutorials!   No matter how busy I am, or how much I put off doing holiday stuff until it's actually December, I'll always make time to make art with yall!  By special request, I've started sharing more Start to Finish art tutorials, where I include the sketch stage!  Here's the watercolor tutorial for the DTIYS challenge!

Challenging myself to share the process from start to finish even extended to the three papercraft activities I created for 2021!

Gift Guides and Top 10's

Somewhat surprisingly  I did not do a regular gift guide or Top X of 2021 this year, but I did three quick store tours- one super cheap, one fairly standard, and my favorite art supply store.

For super cheap, I went to 5Below!

https://youtu.be/FAFZYT7kBsAThe 'standard' is Michaels, because most people have those!  I talk about what I like there and what I skip out on:

https://youtu.be/Ixt7I7d6GBMAnd my favorite is a local store that I've frequented since I was a young teenager- David's Art Center, in Metairie!  I love that place!

https://youtu.be/C2l5Nu-b10ESo I opted not to do a gift guide or a personal top 10 this year for a few reasons:

1. Many of my past gift guides are well thought out and helpful, and I wanted to promote that

2. I'm in the middle of reviewing a lot of things that COULD be great, but I want to fieldtest them 1st3. I want to invite YALL! to help me decide what the best (and worst) art supplies, reviews, and tutorials were this year, so I'm running a poll and plan on hosting an awards show later this year! That said, I did collate some of my favorite gift guides to share with people looking for art gifts this year!

https://twitter.com/Nattosoup/status/1469014690600787978Helping people find great art supplies is really important to me, so it was really vital that I try to get a marker review in there.  Arteza's recently released a new brush tip Everblend, so I hustled to get that review out!

To see the year off, I wanted to create ONE MORE tutorial (with a printable lineart for my Patrons!), so here's a cute snow girl in alcohol marker:

https://youtu.be/2OzXeFIKcx0December was a super busy month!  I created a lot of art, held a couple fun livestreams, and reviewed a BUNCH of art supplies!  I could not have done it without yall, and I'm looking forward to taking a bit of a hiatus in January to recoup!  I'm going to challenge myself to come up with some fun fanart concepts and thumbnails in FANuary!  I probably wont finish any of them out in January, but it'll give me something fun to work on throughout the year, especially as I get back to working on comics and 7" Kara!Recently I contacted Youtube regarding my view count, and they had a couple suggestions that I'd like to encourage yall to consider, particularly if you enjoy the art content I make and share!1.  Subscribe!  Most of my views come from Search and Outside Traffic, which means Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and even Patreon!  If you aren't subscribed yet, please consider doing so, especially if you use Youtube regularly!  I make great background company!2. If you're subscribed and want notifications, please turn on the bell notification from me, but also check and make sure you have Youtube notifs turned on in general!  Only 2.8% of my viewers have both on, which means you're probably missing a lot of great stuff!I want to thank you guys so much for your support this December!  The art supplies I review are purchased using funds from my Patreon- my Patrons make it possible!  I have a lot of great stuff I want to work on in 2022- finishing up the Student Grade Showdown, two more art kits, and a renewed focus on making comics and creating long art!  I can't wait to show yall what I'm working on!
