Creole Tomatoes (Patreon)
Content
I really love the range of colors creole tomatoes produce- yellows, reds, oranges, greens, and even browns and almost violets. They're beautiful fresh- the epitome of garden wonderful. Too bad, I hate raw tomatoes.
As a kid, my family, dismayed by my disdain for tomatoes, insisted that I'd love them if I just had a good fresh one. My PawPaw, as yall know, had a garden, and grew some beautiful tomatoes- that I still snubbed. Mushy. Watery. Doesn't taste like much, and what it does taste like, I don't like it.
Even as an adult, I can only stand tomatoes cooked, lightly pickled, or in salsa- I'll never eat a fresh tomato out of hand. They just taste...weird to me? But that doesn't mean I don't appreciate the beauty of a fresh Creole Tomato, and I seek them out when I'm shopping at the farmer's market. I plan on starting some from seeds and growing them in the backyard- I guess for the squirrels and birds to get to first.
