Hey Artnerds!
Louisiana has been suffering extreme heat and drought all summer long, and is currently dealing with several wildfires across the state. I think everyone down here is hoping for some rain and relief. I mention this because Louisiana really does not get much national coverage in the US.A week without doctors' appointments feels so freeing! I feel like I was really able to get a lot accomplished! My mom's lung surgery is scheduled for early September- flanked by Art Squad Advanced before, and Terrebonne Comic Con after. For my friends who are the praying sort, please keep her in your prayers.
Finishing a Batch of Comic Pages:
I finally finished up a scene that I'm really excited about! I talk about it at length in an upcoming Artist Vlog, but this scene focuses on Kara having an RSD reaction to Tanner's response to Naomi. Since RSD and emotional dysregulation are two major things I struggle with, it was important to include these aspects of ADHD in how I depict Kara.
These pages seemed to drag on forever when I just had a couple hours a day to put into dabbing on some paint, but once things freed up a bit, I could finish them up in a couple of days. Watercolor comics do require big chunks of time all at once!
Catprints Proof Gone Wrong
Recently, I reordered some popular prints and decided to place a separate order for some new designs. Since these are new designs, I wanted to ensure they were just right! I opted to go for physical proofs (test prints), and I'm glad I did!
Here's the first run of proofs:

Sadly, these prints were too dark! This is my fault, as the monitor I used when adjusting them wasn't color-calibrated for my current workspace. Color calibration basically adjusts how color is shown on your monitor so that it reflects true color as close as possible. This is particularly important when editing art, video, or comics!
Fortunately, Joseph has plenty of experience with color calibration, and has calibrated my monitor several times! This time we used the ColorHug, but we're looking to upgrade our Spyder to a more recent version.
This calibration gives a more accurate reflection of color, so I could revisit and reedit my designs and make the necessary corrections before resubmitting the altered designs to Catprint.
Waiting on new hard proof to come in- I think it just shipped, so I hope to share the new proofs with yall soon! I didn't change the actual designs offered, just made adjustments to those designs. I'm really happy I opted to do physical proofs because this was a $300 order of prints, and I want to make sure they look great!
Mijello Half Pans Unbox & Swatch and Fieldtest
WIP baby! Here's the inked lineart for the fieldtest. I unboxed and swatched Mijello's new half pans, but couldn't quite make up my mind on how I felt without putting them through a fieldtest, so it's a bit of a twofer- an Unbox & Swatch with a Fieldtest!

Kristy Rice- Art for Joy's Sake Watercolor Palette & Free Spirited Watercolor Book Two Part Review
I am both very excited for this review and pretty dang nervous about it. I don't want to spoil the review for yall, but this is my first time doing a book review along with a product review, and I found that I really enjoyed that! It's also a longer video (a two in one), and I may also disagree strongly with some other artists on Youtube regarding the quality of one of these two products.
I just wrapped up editing and rendering this review, and it should be released in Early Access sometime this week!
Jenna Rainey sent out a newsletter email about her Maimeri Blu collab, so I guess yall know what I just bought! I also have one of her books, so that'll be another two part review! I'm also strongly considering getting the Mind of Watercolor M Grahams collaboration. If yall know of any other watercolor/inking/comics art influencers/influential artists with brand collaborations or their own palettes, PLEASE send them my way! For the more professional-grade paints, it'll take awhile to collect these palettes, but at least they'll be paints that I'll feel good about adding to my usual rotation.

Tell me this chalky thing isn't super aesthetic! Too bad the watercolors themselves are laughably bad! It almost looks like a makeup palette or a palette made of SweetTarts. And you better believe I swatched ALL 100 of these colors! I have the footage, I just need to get to editing, so keep an eye out for this one!
