Hey Artnerds!

I want to start off by thanking yall so much for keeping my mom in your thoughts and prayers this week. Generally, I'm uncomfortable asking for these sorts of things, but I figured we needed all the help we could get!  Mom's doing well and recovering at home, and I genuinely appreciate all the well wishes.

That said, this week was a lot.  My mom went in on Thursday for surgery on an endocrinal tumor in her lung.  Those of you who have been with me awhile know that I lost my father to lung cancer in 09, and my mom's sister (who lived with her and was a frequent guest on our Crafternoons during the lockdown) died this time last year of lung cancer as well.  To say things have been fraught since her first x-ray in June would be an understatement.  The only reason her doctor even ordered the X-Ray is because my mom's asthma has been worse than usual, and this was a precaution to set my brother's mind at ease.

My mom originally got me into reviewing art supplies.  She had a subscription to Consumer Reports that I avidly read while growing up, and bought me a subscription to Zillions, their children's magazine.  Although she's not an artist herself, she always indulged my interest in art and art supplies (albeit very budget and limited, as Walmart was what we had access to), and enjoys hitting up the art supply store, 5Below, and Dollar Tree with me to see what kind of goodies we can find.  A veteran teacher, she taught me how to teach, and when I was pursuing my master's degree and doing my thesis on how comics help support emerging readers and literacy, she shared the resources she had from teaching struggling readers.  She's always interested in what I'm currently reviewing, and she and her father have been a guiding light of inspiration in my pursuit of sharing my thoughts and findings as honestly as possible.

This is a long way to say I will be behind with Early Access for a while.  I have some stuff in the works, but I'm unsure when I'll have time to voice over and render.

Art Squad Advanced:

I am so grateful my library and cohost agreed to shift the date to accommodate my mom's surgery; hanging out with the teens and making mini stamps was a much-needed break.

I recorded the prep for this, so keep an eye out for an early access walkthrough of carving eraser stamps soon!

You as a Lilliputian:

I was able to complete a couple adorable You as a Lilliputian commissions this week!  I hope to get them mailed off soon!

There's been interest in portraits and commissions in this style, and I'm excited to say I've wanted to offer these as commissions for a while!  I'm waiting to hear back from a few Kickstarter backers regarding their portraits, but if this is something you'd be interested in purchasing or giving as a gift, start thinking about what you'd like and collecting your references because I'm hoping to offer these publicly soon!

Terrebonne Comic Con:

Next weekend, I'm driving over to Houma for the Terrebonne Comic Con at their Houma library branch!  I LOVE library cons, and I'm super excited to offer a panel presentation on Character Development!  I'll share the presentation with yall once it's complete!

If you're in the area and looking for something fun to do, come say hi!  I'll be there Saturday and Sunday selling art prints, comics, coloring books, and Lilliputian Living.

Mushroom Girl Start to Finish Paintalong:

Its been a little while since I've shared a lineart, and the thumbnail for this has been sitting in my sketchbook for months, so I thought why not sketch it up, ink it up, and paint it up to share with yall!  Although the Sketch to Finish tutorials don't do as well as I'd like, I still enjoy doing them and sharing them with yall, so if you enjoy these little draw, ink, and paint alongs (or just paint alongs, since I share the linearts), give me some hype and some love!

Keep an eye out for the lineart, I'll be sharing it with yall soon!
