Hey Artnerds!

October is here, and that means it's time for Lilliputian Living!  We have so many new names around here, I figured it'd be wise to give yall an overview of Lilliputian Living and the challenge around it!

Lilli Living started out as an Inktober challenge based around my own prompt list, but as many artists have moved away from Inktober, it's become its own thing.  Every year, I spend every day of October sketching and inking charming little characters, worlds, and companions and draft up a little worldbuilding prompt to go with it.  The first four years of Lilliputian Living have been compiled into a cute little black-and-white compendium, and I'm currently working on Year 3 of the second volume, so that means I've worked on Lilliputian Living for seven years! Wow!

This year's Lilliputian Living is Fashion themed! I am so excited to show off cute cottagecore-inspired Lilliputian fashions while also demonstrating the means of production!  As someone who still loves crafting and sewing on occasion and has a lot of very creative and crafty friends, I'm really excited to explore this aspect of tiny life as well!

In years past, I would record daily progress and share each day's timelapse video on Tiktok or to Shorts, and for many years, I used Inktober and Lilliputian Living as an opportunity to create loads of inking tutorials to share. This year, I think I will keep it simple and post each day's finished inked illustration on Instagram, Facebook, and the Youtube community tab. Maybe I'll do something super simple for Tiktok, maybe not.

An Answer to my Questions

Over the past couple of years, I've noticed that my energy levels have gone way down, and my pain levels have been on the uptick.  There are many days where I wake up in a lot of pain (kinda locked up), and it's challenging for me to get up.  I also have a lot more arthritis in my hands than I've had in the past, despite really cutting back how much drawing and painting I'm doing.  I have a vlog coming up about this, but earlier this year, I decided to try and figure out why, particularly after my genetic tests came back with many markers for Rheumatoid arthritis.  My aunt who passed away last year had Lupus, and my family is pretty rife with weird autoimmune issues, so I wasn't particularly surprised.  We've had to fight to find doctors and deal with really long new patient waits, but I've finally been able to see a specialist who had additional bloodwork done, and now we know what it is. 

I have Sjogren's syndrome, which my doctor said is sorta like Lupus Lite.  There is still a chance that I may develop RA, fibromyalgia, or lupus, but Sjogren's seems fairly treatable, and comparatively, the issues are minor.  Recently, my dominant hand has been giving me a LOT of trouble and pain with locking up, refusing to draw, refusing to pull lines, ect, so I am a little trepidatious about Lilliputian Living this year. I'm on a couple new to me medications, and hope that with frequent breaks and patience, I can work through this. 

I talk about this in the vlog, but a lot of neurodivergent folks ALSO have autoimmune issues, so if you see yourself in some of the above symptoms, PLEASE talk to your doctor about having bloodwork done.  Many of my symptoms (including those not mentioned here) were ignored and dismissed by doctors, and I could have begun treatment sooner.  I've had arthritis in my right hand since I was 12, and almost every doctor has blown it off.  If sharing my story can help anyone find relief, I'm glad.
