"Bad Liar" is about the initial stages of falling for someone, when you're trying to deny your feelings while simultaneously being consumed by them. It captures the "honeymoon phase" of a crush, where you're both pretending and obsessing over the new love interest. The song also explores the feeling of being caught in a lie to mask those initial, strong emotions.

this was released months before wolves came out! she was subtly teasing it before releasing it :) also this song (along with wolves, fetish, back to you and it aint me) is not on any album and its part of her “droplets era” when she was only releasing singles and got the most experimental with her music. wish she included them all in an album though but i loveddd this era so much!
