I used to remember being a fan of her “ of her personality that was out of this world”, although I could barely understand English at that time 😂😭 yeah that’s GaGa affect 💞

Fatouma

Oh maybe my German translation was needed in this reaction 😂😆

Kel Fulgencio

this means so much to me, Born This Way is my all time favorite Lady Gaga album, I was waiting this video for so long, THANKS.

Ttgreen

Something cool about this is that a lot of this album was made while she was on a tour bus/tour our girl was putting the WORK

Michael Hardwick

So many hits! This era is going to be magical! It’s before her injury too so you’re going to see how HARD she went dancing live! She literally went OFF, every single time. Every single performance was different, some slowed down, some up tempo, some remixed, just you wait & see!

Michael Hardwick

All those visualisers are from the music videos. I didn’t expect them to show them! 😭

So there’s a LOT to say about this album and what it all means but I’m going to start with the first few things. When Gaga heard the instrumental for marry the night she got emotional Fernando Garibay asked what’s wrong and she said “I can’t believe you hear me so big.” because like you said the song definitely feels big and grand! Government hooker is yes about the Marilyn Monroe and John f Kennedy situation a bit but it’s also a message of female empowerment and sexuality. Americano not only touches on immigration but about gay marriage which is why she says we can marry on the west coast since that was one of the few states you can get married at the time (California) and immigration of course when she says I don’t speak your language oh no, but it’s being said in the way that I may not speak your language but that does not mean that I don’t care. And I don’t speak you Jesus Christo is speaking about how she might believe in god herself but not the god that others speak that use their religion to harm others and hinder their rights (anti lgbtq ideals, racism’s etc) Sheibe / pronounced “SHY-suh” Includes gibberish that does not actually mean anything. But the whole point of it is to show what many men hear when they listen to women speak to them. They aren’t really listening nor understanding what they are saying and often times nor are they even caring. So that gibberish was intentional to show that when women speak, this is what men hear. The whole song is about female empowerment and honestly this is still one of my fav Gaga songs of all time.

Fatouma

This album is not for those who suffer from Migraine’s 😫😫 bro the way we was shaking our heads 🤧❤️‍🩹🤷🏽‍♀️❤️‍🔥

Michael Hardwick

Judas didn’t get saved! Brace yourself as it’s one of the main singles of the album! 😂

Michael Hardwick

I think you’ll like Hair performed on piano, it feels much more emotional - stay tuned for that!

Ryan Averill

🔥🔥🔥AMEN JUKE! Can't even contain myself. So delighted to go on this journey with you! 🎉🎉🎉 I have so much to say (sorry in advance!), but I'll start with a few highlights. The references throughout are really autobiographical, which you'll uncover as we explore this era. The album is incredibly personal, but at times, the production and genre choices mean folks forget that. You'll love the "Marry The Night" video, but be prepared for an emotional journey 🥲 - it's very autobiographical, though I won't spoil anything for you! 😊 The religious imagery, both direct and subverted, throughout is incredible. You might have noticed lots of references to a "holy fool", with its dual meaning: someone whose pursuit of holiness hinders them from fully living, and someone who defies social norms within a religious context. "Bloody Mary" tells the story of Mary Magdalene, drawing from both the gospels and non-biblical material from that era. Gaga's intellect is incredible - she's so well read! As others have noted, "Scheisse" features intentionally garbled and mispronounced German, used to highlight how women's voices are often silenced or misunderstood. "Black Jesus + Amen Fashion" is also really autobiographical, especially in the verses: her move to downtown New York at 19, where she talks about experiencing an entirely new way of thinking, very different from her upbringing. She had a very traditional understanding of religion until that move, so the song is about a shift in her thinking, inspired by meeting new people and new experiences of things. I think the "Amen Fashion" is that changing your perspective so that it's more inclusive and loving should be as simple as changing what you wear. Can't wait for you to experience her performances (expect incredible vocals, choreography, staging, and costumes - as ever but even more intensely) and videos (which are more like short films). Her "Edge of Glory" live vocals 👌 Hope this post isn't too long! One more comment here (forgive me): struck, as you've pointed out so well, how the themes in the album are as needed now as they were at the time of release - especially around justice, inclusion, LGBTQIA+ rights, and women's empowerment. As someone has recently said: I can’t believe we're still having to protest this scheisse! Love is love!

MadeleineMars

The fact that this album had you going through joy and dancing to passionate rants and back to dancing just says it all! 😂 This album is so empowering to everyone no matter who you are - if you’re just a weirdo (like me 🤪) or if you’re battling for your life and choices there’s a place for you. We are all just on the road to love 😎 and freedom and Gaga is leading the charge. 🫶🏻 I was only 9 when this came out so I couldn’t appreciate it fully back then but I remember how huge it was and how much impact it had. It will forever be relevant. Can’t wait for you to dive into this whole era and see its beauty. ✨

Isabella Peterson

Such a skipless album! I love that you gave Hair some appreciation. Its always been a favorite of mine

Heikki

i used to pray for times like this❤️❤️

Amine amineee

Sarah Savala

I had a long comment drawn up and then I accidentally erased lmao. but long story short: Born This Way is an exultant album. <3

Ming

AMAZINGGGG NOW YOU HAVEEEE TO DO ALL THE MUSIC VIDEOSSSS THERE SO AMAZINGGG

leonardo rivas

this is lady gaga megnum opus, she's stated this before as her best piece of work and probably her only piece of work that she cant replicate, due to the fact this album only worked during its time due to political issues and where she was mentally, also due to the fact that during this time nobody was doing it like her, super controversial album especially judas which dropped on easter, had the whole catholic church shaking she was banned and threatened during this era and multiple protest took place around the world to stop her tour, she was called the antichrist and etc, she was able to sell 1.1 million records in its first week in the US alone.

Vinicius🇧🇷

edge of glory reminds me of her running on a bridge for a google chrome commercial

Lewis

Such a good album, we need Lady Gaga to perform “Marry the night” live again she hasn’t performed it in so long 💕😩.

Alejandro

At the end of Judas he literally did the choreo hahaha ❤️

Chi Phan

Some key amazing interviews you need to watch on your own time. No need to react but it’ll offer some insightful backstory to the era. And they’re so emotional! 1.MTV inside the outside 2.Google goes Gaga Chdck them out!

iAlcor

21 by Adele won best album during the time Born this Way was nominated

Hector gz

The way he gets the concept and the meaning of each song! 🥰

Sarrah Garcia

I think you forgot to do her performance of till it happens to you at the Oscar's from 2017. I think it's one of her most powerful songs and both the studio and live performance are must watches. Would love to see you react to them!

Allyn

Man that was a great journey listening to Born this way again with you Danny. Thank you Michael for making sure it was the special edition. You were pretty spot on with a lot of the song meanings. Like ARTPOP, this album was ahead of its time and even more applicable and relevant today. Scheiße is pronounced Shy-za lol. If you enjoy Zedd, his album True Colors is a masterclass in EDM with some pop elements and great features you'll enjoy. IMO the best live performances of You & I and Born This Way are from The Monster Ball Tour (HBO Special) but that's Fame Monster Era.

Eva Warwick

FYI for Sheiße… it's pronounced sheisse (the letter ß in German is pronounced as 2 ss, not a b. You can find it in the keyboard if you hold down on the letter s). Also, there is no translation for the song because she is just speaking nonsense. Half of the words she says are just made up or not even German.

George 🪐

Danny! I mentioned before this is my favorite album of hers. This is when I fully became a little monster. I was 15 at the time and seeing her live here in Colombia with the BTW ball is one of the moments I'll cherish forever (praying for a latin american leg of the Mayhem Ball). This album is dark, fun, meaningful ... Incredible. Now.... she gave us a Christmas present in 2011 which is a song called Stuck On Fuckin' You. I'd love to see you react to it since it was recorded in one take and it feels so organic. Here's the link https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WXje0s_bOa4. Check out the description of that video, she explains a little bit. As always, I'm glad to see you like her more and more with each video. Hope you react to this song, it's amazing :)

Joel Lansdowne

You're a beautiful human thank you for your amazing kind and positive energy. Thank you

Joel Lansdowne

I wish you started this era with the Grammys performance when she hatched from the egg because that's how she introduced us to this era but I'm just glad we are here, that being said I onow you'll get to it it's exciting all of it.

Joel Lansdowne

I love that you call.puy the fascists and the megalomaniacs

Joel Lansdowne

Yeah bad kid has some iconic lyric gagaisms but it's usually a skip for me and I'm a stan through and and through

Joel Lansdowne

I was literally typing fashion of his love is Whitney Houston coded and then you started singing it literally Thank you Thank you Thank you

Joel Lansdowne

Electric Chapel is my favorite song on the record it's perfect

Joel Lansdowne

You and I samples we will rock you and Brian May is rocking the guitar on it and when you watch the VMAS performance there's a fun jump scare

Joel Lansdowne

Mutt Lange was married to Shania Twain and he wrote and produced a lot of songs with her and wrote and produced don't let me be the last to know by Britney Spears as well as ACDC records ext

Francesca Fittipaldi

hi Danny i'm a huge little monster from Italy and I'M LOVING your Gaga deep dive, you're so supportive of her as human level, of her artistry and the message she wants to send to the world. And I thank you for that. I see you're about to dive into the Born This Way era but I'll leave some performances I think you should definitely see: - Sound of Music at Oscar's ceremony (2015) literally changed the trajectory of her career - not a singing performance but you should see House of Gucci to complete her (short) filmography - if you want to have a glimpse of Gaga in her jazz persona, i would recommend "Lady Gaga Celebrates Love For Sale (presented by Westfield)" or Love for Sale/Do I Love You at 64th Grammy Awards - Happy Mistake at Jimmy Kimmel Live! - Til It Happens to You Live at Billdboard Women in Music Award (2015)

Francesca Fittipaldi

you can't find the translation for ScheiBe because there isn't! It's fake German

Adam Jagger

If you love the sax that much on Edge of Glory... you need to listen to "The Midnight - Endless summer" album. Euphoria to the max with digital and actual sax

Adam Jagger

10 minutes long.... hahahhahhahahahaha omg yes can relate

Babylon

love how much you love being an uncle. as an guncle, my baby nieces love judas

Emika

Seeing you listen to the remixes makes me want you to check out Gaga's Dawn of Chromatica remix album. It's remixes of all the songs on Chromatica but with new featuring artists for each one! It really puts a new spin on all the songs =)

Juan Barrera

@juke We should do a game where you list songs you think will be/were released as singles and we'll tell you if you were right!

Juan Barrera

1. Judas has several meanings. 1st she's signing it as Mary Magdalene. In a biblical sense, she's stating how Judas didn't betray Jesus, but it was part of the plan. Lady Gaga has herself said this. How Judas sacrificed his reputation for the sake of prophecy. There is no Jesus without Judas, and no Judas without Jesus. Which takes us to the next meaning, Judas is a symbol for the dark side within oneself and embracing it (a theme she revisited for Mayhem). 2. Although Gaga says "Bloody Mary" 3 times like the urban legend, this track is also about Mary Magdalene's POV. How she won't cry for Jesus during his crucifixion because of her understanding of the prophecy, and her woman's strength. It is believed Mary Magdalene had a romantic relationship with Jesus. "Love is just a history that they may prove, and when you're gone, I'll tell them my religion is you. I'm ready for their stones". Tudum's version is sped up (TikTok tends to do this to songs and makes them go viral). 3. Black Jesus + Amen Fashion is an autobiographical song (like Marry the Night) about when she moved to downtown New York when she was 19. The lyrics are about how, when Gaga moved downtown, she was introduced to an entirely new way of thinking that was so different from the way she was taught. Up till then, she was taught throughout her entire life to look at Jesus and religion a certain way. So she sees Black Jesus as an entirely new way of thinking, which she believes was caused by meeting new people and seeing new things. She says that the Amen Fashion part of the song is about having a new way of seeing it as easy as changing your fashion. 5. Lady Gaga wrote "You and I" inspired by her ex-boyfriend, who, at the time, told her she'd never be famous. She told him, "One day you won't be able to order coffee at the diner without hearing my name". They broke up before she released The Fame. When making the music video for it, she met Taylor Kinney, who became her boyfriend after they finished filming lol. #FunFact, when this song was released to the radio, the song changed "Nebraska" to whatever state the song was playing in. Ex. Texas for Texas, Rhode Island for Rhode Island, etc.

robomcm89

Ok, after seeing plenty of creators going on a Gaga deep dive this year before and after Mayhem released, this has to be one of my favorite Gaga reactions I’ve seen! Reminds me so much of how I remember feeling on initial listen all those years ago when it debuted lol. Lots of love Juke💜
