I hate when people reduce Taylor to her relationships, so if the following text really upsets you in that way, I won't repeat it (and maybe I delete) I brought a little context to some songs from fearless and speak now. While she was writing Fearless she dated Joe Jonas for a few months (maybe 3), this was her first PUBLIC relationship, in the end he broke up with her in a 27 second phone call. The best thing she got out of this relationship was her friendship with Selena Gomez (they are still best friends today), who at the time was dating another Jonas brother. For Joe, the songs we are: Forever and Always (from fearless) (Taylor said in an interview that it was the last song added to the album, and that it happened in a hurry, exactly because they broke up close to the album's release. That's why it's a very angry performance on the Fearless Tour) Mr. Perfectly Fine (from fearless tv) Last Kiss (from speak now)

You should react to Seth Meyers (who I believe was the head writer at the time) talking about the SNL monologue. Apparently she just walked in and was like “I wanna play you something” and it was already done, she didn’t even need the comedy input from the SNL writers 😂

For me the grammy performance they were both so nervous. Both so early for them in their career on such a huge award show like the grammys. But sweet🥹 The monologue song is Epic! She wrote it herself, snl writers were shocked because they usually write the monologue for the guest host. It’s ok to care about Taylor Lautner! He’s probably Taylor’s favorite Ex. They were able to become friends after their breakup. There’s a little bit of Taylor squared lore that goes all the way through the eras tour! that would be a fun thing for you to react to.

I recommend watching Taylor’s SNL episode on your own time if you want some great laughs. It’s on Peacock and she’s so, so good in the skits. Like others have mentioned, Seth Meyers (who was an SNL head writer when Taylor hosted) did a whole bit on Howard Stern about how they hadn’t started writing her monologue yet and she walked in with the fully formed Monologue Song. He said it was funnier than anything they had in mind and they were in awe of how talented and smart she was for her age. In the Grammy performance, I love how endearingly Taylor sings it with a softer touch, it fits the song so well. No doubt Miley was honored to be up there with THE Taylor Swift! It’s interesting thinking about the trajectories their careers have taken while watching this. Taylor did indeed date Taylor Lautner and they’re still friends - she has him in a music video that you’ll see soon! I’m dying to know how much we have left for the Fearless era and when we’re headed to Speak Now! When we go to Speak Now, Taylor’s Grammy performance of “Mean” must be included because it is epic!
