Help me breakdown this music video! :)

My claim to fame is that this was filmed in my home city - I woke up for work one morning to news articles saying "Taylor Swift spotted filming late night music video in Liverpool" and was so confused 😂

Fronaismyname

Taylor L dated Taylor S and is now married to another Taylor L- this will never not be funny to me

Fronaismyname

Adding some more lore: Joey king & the security van girl were both in the Mean MV ;)

Kelsey

1989 tv came out next after this music video. So the "89 tv" sign that they were driving past was a little hint that that it was on the way! :) love the reaction as always!!

Amber

The 1989 tv sign at the end was an Easter egg for the next TV we had gotten! Love the video!!

Kacee

89 TV was an Easter egg that 1989 (Taylor’s version) was the next (and last) re-record she announced on tour.

False Dog

The sign on the bridge is an easter egg for the forthcoming "1989 (TV)"

Jesss

I cant wait till you get to the 10 mins all too well mv 😭

This is such a fun music video!!! And I’m fairly certain Taylor said Mr. Lautner actually did all of these stunts for the video (including twirling his, errrrm… pole 🫠). Makes sense tbh, cuz the man is FITTTTTTT. 🤤🥵🤣

Isabella Peterson

Look the easter eggs can be a lot for a seasoned swiftie, so don’t worry if you miss some things ever! 😅 You got the music video very well! Some outfit you will see on the tour but honestly, if you haven’t watched the tour like 15 times it is still hard to catch them all haha. Loved this Juke, you’re so into the music videos. Also ofc you’re a criminal minds fan, can you get any more iconic?

Mayra

Taylor brought them out to premiere the music video on her Kansas city night 1 eras tour. Taylor Lautner said on Jimmy fallon how he got the call from his manager that Taylor wanted his new # for a project his wife is a huge swiftie

There’s a very cute, very short clip from the eras tour when she premiered this music video (Kansas City, Night 1). She brought Taylor Lautner, Joey King, and Presley Cash out on stage with her. It was so sweet because Taylor Lautner says beautiful things about “our” Taylor. He also does a back flip on stage lol. I tried to get that short clip added to your doc to go with this music video as just a little bonus. Oh, and a real-life easter egg that happened (an Easter egg that Taylor didn’t give us, but rather the universe did): while Taylor Lautner was backstage on this night in Kansas City, he posted a picture of himself standing in front of Travis Kelce’s locker.

Small correction: Presley Cash was also in the Mean music video along with Joey King. :) Glad you enjoyed this one! I love this music video.

Loved this! This song & mv is one of my favs. And just adding to help you with the breakdown, Taylor dressed and looked like this at the video because this is how she used to dress up and do her hair for the speak now tour. So the Taylor who is locked in the vault is the “young” speak now Taylor 🙃 And she used to write 13 and different lyrics on her arms every night, here it’s the lyrics from Long live - “I had the time of my life…”

Jerico Rivera

So the music video is basically a representation of her life situation back then where she doesn't own her masters and she's at the vault being locked up for a very long time. In the end, she had to watch all her beautiful pasts (which are all her wardrobes during Speak Now era) being destroyed to save herself which reminds me of her line "he's got my past frozen behind glass, but I've got me" 💔. She's bringing her version of Speak Now as a symbol of hope. What she's wearing in the music video is the sparkly dress that she wears for the opening of her Speak Now tour. To help you identify who Presley Cash was in the Mean music video, it was the one who was saving money for her college and in the end, she became as some sort of Dean in a university. And the sign that you saw at the bridge at the end of the video was an easter egg for her 1989 TV which was released over 3 months after Speak Now TV in 2023!

Just for fun you should try searching “Taylor Lautner Martial arts” - you’d find videos of him doing these exact stunts as a little kid (I think he had the black belt by 8 years old and was a world champion in Martial arts) 💪🏼 So he absolutely did all these stunts irl NO CGI (which he also told on his wifes podcast) 👊🏼 But admitted to being too old now for his body not to have a hard time afterwards 😅

Sarrah Garcia

You should watch her debuting the music video at the eras tour in Kansas City and the surprise songs the day the album dropped. I don't wanna spoil it, but it's definitely worth the watch!

This is still one of my fav videos😍😍😍 you nailed most of the easter eggs first go, good job!!!😁 Also YES to you being a criminal minds fan

Laurasr618

A lot of the Easter eggs have to do with the speak now tour and all of the dresses she wears in that. Also above the bridge means that 1989 tv was coming. She also was dressed like herself from back in that era in her sparks fly tour dress and the writing on her arm she would do everyday on the tour

Gah you have no idea how happy I am every time you post a Taylor reaction! It's been a really tough week for me, as a dear friend and coworker passed away. 😥 So you really brightened my day with this, and I can't wait for your reaction to the Speak Now tour and then one of my absolute favorite albums: Red! Thank you for all that you do!
