another thing i wanna add about the video, specifically the club scene when they’re all dancing together, there’s cuts where ariana is actually the one in the dark ponytail and hoodie instead of her doppelgänger! if you go frame by frame you’ll see her cut in without the blonde wig! which adds fuel to this being about her wanting herself. is the blonde wig her Sweetener self? the theories are endless hahaha but could you imagine this as a horror movie? you meet a random girl at the club, befriend her, invite her to your house and she shows up looking EXACTLY like you 😭

do think it’s about self-love, because toward the end (at 7:50 and 9:20), when she’s standing face to face with her doppelgänger, the camera turns in a way that makes it look like a mirror — where Ari was standing, suddenly the double is there, and the Other way arounf. It really looks like a reflection. And also because she and her doppelgänger kiss at the end.
