in the zane lowe interview he was talking about seeing his friends like trust in something and risk something and be vulnerable enough to fall in love and how he was thinking that he always thought of himself as the fun, single one. but maybe there’s something nice about having the stability and comfort of a significant other. so i feel like it’s kind of like how he’s placed in a bubble? and isn’t actually risking anything?? idk! 🤷‍♀️

What I took from Harry's comments to Zane Lowe & this music video is that he feels like he's playing it safe by not pursuing a serious relationship like his friends who are in love. It was fun at first, but he's at a point in his life where he's possibly bored/lonely and wants to change that. I think him looking disappointed while filming with the safety of stunt doubles, superimposed locations & fake explosions is a metaphor for exactly that. Such a fun way to reflect the song's meaning!

The video makes me feel like he is referencing his one direction time and touring life style. How he spent so much time being involved with the band and performing and being told who to be and how to act that now as he is watching all of his friends settle down and get married to people that they love, trust, and feel comfortable around to be their true selves, maybe part of him wonders if he will ever be able to truly give himself to someone or if all the time he spent being “managed” took away his chances of being vulnerable and the chance to trust someone and truly settle down.

I think the music video might be talking about how the people who work behind the scenes often get unnoticed and he wants to portray and appreciate how much the people working behind the scenes put in so much effort, possibly! But Harry’s MVs will always be confusing 😅

My interpretation is him whatching from the outside while others take risks, but he is afraid of being out there and missing things. So it’s like he is safe, but is he living his life to the maximum by being in this bubble?

Finally catching up on your recent videos, and Im not sure if someone else has commented this but I agree with the comments online ive seen where this music video for American Girls is a bit like One Directions song from there second album Live While Your Young second track called Kiss You and its music video, but exactly like this Music Video with it being behind the scenes, and Louis is 'driving' in a car with Niall passenger seat, Zayn is 'driving' a motorcycle with Harry sitting behind him with Liam in a sidecar. And they do other things throughtout the music video with a green screen and show the behind the scenes. So it could mean a nod back to early 1D days. Also their song Steal My Girl music video on their 4th album Four is also filmed with behind the scenes with Danny DeVito in it. Also I agree with other comments when they say that Harrys fourth album Kiss All The Time Disco Occasionally sounds similar to 5 Seconds of Summers 6th Album Everyones a Star which was out in 2025. (not sure if you know but Louis discovered 5SOS and they toured with 1D as openers multiple times. by the way Louis Zayn Liam Niall and Harry also sing 1D songs during their own tours so if you watch their solo stuff first you will see how they sing certain songs with their own spin and then eventually be hearing how they sing it together. and Louis and Liam did most of the writing for 1D that made the albums. Which ever way you want to react to 1D and solo things im here for it.
