Eep yes been looking forward to this one for a while, and I'm so glad you loved the song and video so much! It's one of Taylor's many songs to peak at #2 on the charts! She got blocked by her bestie Ed Sheeran with Shape of You. Hehe I love that you pointed out how their voices mesh so well and that each time he'd go up high, she'd be in lower register and vice versa, even when singing the same line. It's perfectly symbolic of them being so far apart. Just like the video showing them in the same hotel but not together 😭 Love that it also shows how they can be surrounded by people: the paparazzi or partiers, but still they feel alone without each other. THE LIPSTICK. I can stare at Taylor with that sparkly crimson lip forever. She's always rocking amazing red lips, but this look is next level! 😍 And of course you're definitely not annoying! I’ve always wondered about their relationship. I mean she dated Harry while 1D was still together and she is friends with Gigi. The video and music is sexy but keeping their scenes separate was a good idea to avoid any awkwardness. I mean she released Style, Gigi and Zayn started dating, and this song released all within like 2 years.

When you watch the first eras tour performance of it, she was going through her breakup with Matty and looks like she’s about to cry, it’s heart wrenching. Especially the “don’t know if I dodged a bullet or just lost the love of my life” part. But it’s so beautiful

it’s always so amusing watching someone discover something for the first time. i forget that it’s not normal for people to recognize zayn’s voice immediately lol. he’s incredibly talented and one of the best male vocalists of this generation, in my mind! i’m addicted to his falsetto and gritty sexy low voice 😍 he can really do it all! just wait for his other songs where he really tests out his vocals (ahem: befour, it’s you, she, good years, dusk till dawn, etc) to this day, this is one of my fav songs and it’s probably because two of my favorite artists collabed on a banger track!

Taylor sang this song as a surprise song on the night I attended the Eras Tour in Chicago (June 2023). We were all shook because we didn't even know this song could be an option. She looked visibly heartbroken (turns out this was soon after her breakup with Matty Healy, which was also shortly after her breakup with Joe). It was an incredibly raw performance, but I remember also being so concerned for her. :( Later on in the tour. she performed the song again after she was happily with Travis, and the difference in her demeanor was so obvious. I hope you can watch a video of those performances sometime!
