diana (world of tinashe)

omg I ran so fast to my laptop when I got the notification. you finally get to add another queen to our list: Elena, Maria, Yuna (Shane's mom), Rose and Svetlana. even though the show is focused on Ilya, Shane + Scott and Kip sub-plot the women on this show are just...UGH < 3 the scene of Shane and Ilya in the club just trying to get each other's attention / make each other jealous while "All The Things She Said" by t.A.T.u was playing...10/10 LIKE THAT'S CINEMA

forest

petition for Juke to be casted in season 2 😂❤️ hahahaha

Whatsmyline

Eeeeek! I’ve been waiting for this to drop like it is the actual initial episode drop— in I deeeelve!

Oh my I need to catch up on this show. Don't know how I spent this long without watching it! Will have to watch it through once first and then catch up on the reactions!

Parker

Danny, you’re FEEDING us today

Blue

i literally jumped off my seat when you said you're considering reacting to "the summer i turned pretty". i would LOVE it and i think u would too :)

Whatsmyline

Wtf. I’m so sorry to hear about your friend, I hope he is doing ok 💔❤️

Francesca :)

its so funny hearing you say that shane is the one who wants to talk and then he walks away as soon as they say/moan each others name for the first time😂

Francesca :)

ryan price, the player they talk about while watching a game, has his own book👀

Anni

You are very perceptive and because of that you can easily read between the lines. It's fun watching you! The way Shane left Ilya was so heartbreaking. He finaly let his guard down and it blew up in his face. 😭😭

Francesca :)

ilya talking about hot women in a subtle way to know if shane is gay or bi or has someone else always kills me😭

Dan

Volume UP, phone MUTED, locked IN

Francesca :)

“im lazy - i dont know that side of you at all” flashback to episode 1 when ilya’s dad calls him lazy at the draft event

As a sports fan myself, I completely agree with you. There’s a lot of toxicity in the sports world that often gets overlooked. The constant “GOAT” debates turn into unnecessary arguments, politics, especially extreme viewpoints, seem to creep into everything, and there’s an overwhelming level of aggression in both players and fans. On top of that, serious issues like harassment and sexual assault don’t always get the attention or accountability they deserve. It can take away from what sports are supposed to be about: competition, passion, and bringing people together.

KnightOwl1978

Yeah rewatching episode 4 with you thanks! Loved your discussions/comments on the previous episodes! cheers!🍷

Whatsmyline

Back halfway through to say that I’m so sorry the situation with Ilya and his father and family is triggering for you and that you’re going through it. Sending love!

heather

love this ep!!

Liam Mcfarlane

No spoilers because I’m not about that, but having seen as many of your videos as I have, I’m going to give you a tissue warning for episode 5. Could be happy tissues, could be sad tissues, could be both or neither, I’m not giving tissue details, just have them ready 👀

ilya's not lovebombing shane or playing a game. lovebombing is when someone gives you extreme love and attention at first and then just when you become dependent for their attention they stop giving you it. ilya never did that, he was always really consistent in his behavior until this episode with the tuna melt scene, when he finally let himself show some vulnerability. it's exactly why shane freaks out, because ilyas doing something he's never done before. but up until that point, ilya is really clear with his intentions, and shane actually always had the same intentions. yes he always tried to start convos with ilya where he tried to get him to open up more but that was always it and nothing more; throughout the book he always thinks about how they can't be in a relationship because of how they're rivals and how they're both men and how he'll eventually find a woman he actually wants and he actually tells himself that this is the last time everytime he leaves ilyas house. so they're on the same page about not being together. i think for some reason a lot of people have this idea that shane and ilya are not in a relationship because of ilya, but even if ilya was extremely open to a relationship with him, shane wouldn't be. they have way more issues than just ilyas walls being up. also, the reason why ilya made a sexual comment or joke almost every time showed vulnerability (e.g. right after he says "i like you" to shane, he jokes with the "not as a person of course" and shane laughs) the reason for that is not because he's playing a game but because he's trying to not freak shane out. same with the scene where he asks shane to stay and then when shane hesitates he says "i'm not done with you", it's specifically mentioned in the book that the reason he says that is because he's trying not to freak shane out

Kelsea Louise

What a great way to end my birthday!! Episode 4 will forever break my heart. It’s how quickly Ilya switches back to using Hollander. It’s almost like he’s begging him to stay by switching back to routine and praying Shane will feel comfortable again💔 Shatters my heart every single time 👏🏻

Parker

people might’ve already commented something similar, but there’s so many to comb through already! These are Hudson & Connor’s breakout roles. Connor was planing to go back to his restaurant job after they wrapped. They went from average people to SUPERSTARS realllllll quick- LITERALLY overnight. It is beyond comprehensible what they have experienced. Extremely exciting for them… they’ve both already been cast in many projects, but I can’t imagine how overwhelming this is. Needless to say, they are handling it SO well (at least on the outside) and seeing them individually has proved just how talented and deserving they are! They are like total opposites of their characters🙈

Edgar Navarrete

Ilya so invested in Shane’s and roses relationship that he looks for Shane when he sees miles at the club 😩

Julia Watts

i really respectfully disagree that Ilya is doing any kind of love bombing. Rachel Reid (the author and creator of the characters) says that they’ve been in love since the first time they met, not a spoiler for the ending, just context for their expression of young love. so i think any of the cracks you’re seeing are him just having intense feelings, and being a complicated person, and closeted in a high stakes environment, and very young while experiencing cultural differences. i really prefer to believe them to be equals and good and living a complex life. that’s just my opinion though! no one’s perfect but nothing they do comes from a malicious place!

bibs

I’m really sorry for what happened to your friend. No one deserves to be made to feel that way.

Ash

omg why did that scene with the first names just BREAK ME 😭

Bryson

It's made clear that Kip's dad knows he's gay in episode 3 when Elena asks Kip what his dad thinks he's been hiding. Kip says, "he probably thinks I'm fucking some married guy". Down to the final two episodes... here we go! Also, you saying "that was hot" with tears in your eyes watching Ilya spit in Shane's hand was incredible. 🤣 Speaking of which, good luck with what's to come. KEEP TISSUES (and wine) ON STANDBY. Since you asked for other show suggestions, I highly recommend "Heartstopper" and "Fellow Travelers" (starring Jonathan Bailey). They are both queer-focused shows, but they’re vastly different. Even if you don’t react to them, I think they are well worth watching in your free time! ❤️

bibs

I just wanted to say how much I enjoyed the way you paused and analyzed things throughout this video, it really adds a lot. I already follow your music reviews because of your thoughtful analysis, and your content on shows and movies doesn’t disappoint either (I'm excited for more in the future) Please feel free to pause as much as you need and take your time diving into things. I also really appreciate when you share personal stories, they add so much depth and perspective, like when you talked about your family member with dementia and how that helped you relate to Ilya, or when you mentioned the hate crime against your queer friend. It makes your content feel more genuine and meaningful. ❤️

mari

here's what the author shared on her instagram story about the tuna melt scene: "I get asked a lot about Ilya’s thoughts and feelings during (and leading up to) the “Tuna melt scene.” Here are some answers: Ok, so at this point in our story, Ilya is super in love with Shane but won’t admit it to himself. He’s still trying to play it cool, but he has also made this whole plan about getting Shane to spend the night. He knows neither of them have to be up early the next morning; conditions are perfect. He goes grocery shopping, he imagines what he will say when the time comes, he decides he will turn on a hockey game because that might get Shane to relax. All of this is preplanned. Ilya has been thinking about it for days. He doesn't invite Shane to stay until after they've had sex. He waits for Shane to be relaxed and happy, then he asks. He makes sure he sounds perfectly calm when he asks—almost indifferent—but he REALLY wants Shane to stay. When Shane says yes, Ilya is celebrating inside. The "Shane" just slips out, and Ilya is mortified. In his mind he feels he'd just admitted all his feelings with a single word. When Shane says "Ilya" back, he's flooded with relief and happiness. When Shane panics and leaves later, Ilya is DEVASTATED, but refuses to show it. After Shane leaves he's miserable and embarrassed. And then Rose Landry happens."

Liam Mcfarlane

Also, in a show where there's a queer Russian character, if they hadn't used All The Things She Said then I would have rioted, so for them to use it so perfectly where they're both running through each other's heads was great. And once again, Jacob Tierney not beating the swiftie allegations with Rose at the game in the VIP box wearing her man's jersey 👀😂

Francesca :)

just finished, really love your reactions!! this episode has so much going on, but ep5 is the 2nd best rated episode in the world (in any series) so really canto wait! also: you would really love (cry to) heartstopper and i think you should also watch red white an royal blue. ALSO young royals😩 i love queer stories so much as you can tell

Whatsmyline

Great reaction as always! You notice so many things most don’t on first watch, very insightful. Regarding the Tuna melt scene— things got intense and Ilya was attempting to open up a bit, being domestic, wanting Shane to stay, and the resulting intimacy at the end (rewatch that scene, it’s insanely intimate) hit Shane hard and freaked him out. Basically a (very nuanced) 180 from ep 2, character wise. You might have missed that at the end that the shots flicker between them thinking of one another as they…ahem…release. These messy messy boys!

Lauren

This episode is in my opinion the most easily misinterpreted in the show because of how much of it is internal/portrayed through expressions and body language, so I wanted to explain some aspects that the book delves into a little better to add context before the emotional masterpiece of ep 5 & 6!! 😽 This is the episode where everything becomes very real for both Shane and Ilya; its interesting to see the two of them respond in opposite ways to the internal revelation that they are falling love. Ilya finally lets down his walls, allowing himself to vulnerable by asking Shane to stay for the first time. Still, he plays it casual so he doesn't scare Shane off despite having planned out everything, buying Shane's favourite drink and the ingredients to cook for him in advance. Shane on the other hand is coming to an internal crisis with his sexuality, shown 3 times in this episode where he experiences the overwhelming pressure to conform to heterosexuality. We first see this at the aquarium, when Hayden tries setting him up with a woman and talking about having kids, asking Shane when he is going to 'join him in this nightmare'. Then there is Ilya talking about hooking up with women, which is his weird way of trying to sus out if Shane is gay or bisexual like him. The conversation reinforces the fact that Ilya could take the easier route and be with a women rather than him if things got too serious or difficult. By this point Shane is starting to realize he probably only likes men and is now falling in love with Ilya, making him panic after the uncharacteristic intimacy of the sex scene on the couch. They said each other's first names, and now its too domestic and real, especially when its even more obvious after their couch convo that Ilya could turn to women and avoid the mess their relationship would cause for their careers. Finally, there's Shane's parents trying to set him up with a Swedish princess, which he has no interest in despite his parents using it as easy bait (that a straight guy probably would've taken) to try and get him to attend their trip. The culmination of all these external pressures to conform to heterosexuality kind of makes Shane snap. I don't think he's trying to use Rose at all, but the coincidence of their first meeting and the fact that they hit it off presents the perfect opportunity for him to try and see if he can be 'normal' or attracted to a woman, like everyone in his life seems to be forcing on him in this episode. It's so complicated and sad, but the next episode will make up for it!! You were right when you mentioned that Shane wanted to say 'i love you' on the couch- I'm really impressed by how much you pick up on that other reactors tend to miss with this show. It means so much seeing someone (especially a straight man) get emotional and really allow themselves to connect with the messages conveyed here. I have a feeling you're going to love episode 5 & 6 💖💖💖

mari

sorry for leaving so many comments, but here's an actually funny thing about this episode from the book: that girl ilyas all over at the club scene, after their whole grinding on each other and kissing each other's neck thing, the girl is just like "my boyfriend just wanted to watch this, he likes it, bye"

Dee

Ep 4, lets gooooo

Sierra Stevens

I would love to watch you react to The Summer I Turned Pretty.

John-Phillip Saayman

That scene with All the Things She Said playing is amazing. Loved it. Such a poignant song too. Added that remix to my Playlist after it.

I am in love with Shane and Ilya being together. I can see that both of them are scared. Ilya was starting to getting used to what he has with Shane and vice versa. They both had different ways of handling the realization. Ilya began showing signs that he cared with the house scene. Shane like you said was going to say I love you. The fact they both said each other names show how deep they are in it. Shane of course gets scared and actually pulls away while Illya tries to not make it too much of a deal. Shane meets Rose. He's a fan, they get to talking and it seems like he had a great time. And maybe what his friend said (don't remember who he is to him) and his parents comments subconsciously inform his actions to be in a relationship with Rose. This is my first time watching this show so Shane could very well be into women too, but would prefer to be with a man (if that makes sense). This show is interesting and I cannot wait to see how everything turns out. It's complicated and reflects what people actually go through.

Liam Robb

For the logos they were designed to look like "tops" or "bottoms" - Jacob Tierney even said they categorized all the fake teams into one of these categories and then designed the logos around it haha Also, definitely get another bottle of the wine for the next episode lol

Kris

Loving watching your reactions 🫶🏼

Luísa

This was actually Hudson's first big role, and he killed it. If you want to laugh, you should watch Hudson Williams' short-films, they're sooo funny

Pamela

The whole scene in Ilya's house is probably one of my favorites of the show. There's a mini - extra chapter that was published after the book that explains how he planned the whole thing: asking him to stay a little more, buying the groceries to make Shane a tuna melt, the ginger ale and even trying to get closer with him talking about common topics like hockey or even girls... my boy was falling haaaard and he didn't even knew yet lol

icyguess

Seeing you relate so emotionally, and sharing two personal experiences that this incredible show brought out (and thank you for your candor, it’s touching)… it just underscores that underneath our skin, the human experience is an inescapably shared experience. You are a good human, it’s obvious, and I think you are already aware that this show is a cultural reset, even before you experience the two best episodes yet to come. Representation matters, love matters, and these two brave main leads are paving a new highway.

Maya

I felt sooo horrible that you were crying after ilya’s phone call then the sex scene happens. 😭 I was conflicted

Mitchell

The guy who is reading the comments about Shane he’s actually transgender and he was in the NHL

Allie

There is something so beautiful about how this episode is the first time they’re meeting up in the daylight. The warm bright light on them ahh

Madison Sprowl

I just wanted to thank you for helping me realize that good men are out in the world. It seems like the world is over saturated by hateful, selfish, scary men. And lately I have been very paranoid because of some not so good men I have known in the past, and watching your videos and seeing how you treat others and how you seem to move through the world with kindness is very healing for me personally. I love this show for similar reasons, and seeing you react to it has been wonderful. Thank you.

Tom Duarte

ep 5 is probably one of my favorite episodes in tv history, i'm not exaggerating, I can't wait for thursday!!!

lillian!!

the summer i turned pretty would be sooooo fun to watch with you!!

Ana

I think you misread some things here: 1) Ilya never love-bombed Shane. Shane wanted to go beyond the physical, but Ilya made sure to never cross that line. He was actually cold in several moments. But he couldn’t always help himself, so sometimes his true feelings would show. 2) When they meet at Ilya’s house, Ilya already admitted to himself that he had feelings for Shane and that he lost interest in everyone else. So, he decides to lower his walls a bit and allow himself to be affectionate and talk, to get to know Shane. Talking about women wasn’t him being a dick or playing nonchalant, it was just his way of trying to find out if Shane was bi or gay. The sex wasn’t cold at all; it was intimate and vulnerable. That’s why he calls Shane by his first name: he felt it. But Shane wasn’t expecting it, and when he sees Ilya opening up, he freaks out. I actually feel bad for Ilya in this episode, because now that he was finally willing to let Shane in, Shane decides he’s not ready for it. Heart-wrenching!

Allicat

one of my favourite details from this episode is when Ilya gets his call from his father and he refers to him as "папа" (papa). Every time we've seen Ilya talk to his father before this episode, he addressed him as "отец" (ah-TYETS). For context, "отец" is the most formal way to say father in Russian and almost no one would actually use that term. The english equivalent might be more akin to someone addressing their father as "sir". The fact that Ilya has reverted back to calling his dad "papa", a much more familial and affectionate term that he likely used in childhood, is such a subtle but clever way of indicating that his father's illness has progressed for the worse.

marie

i wanna point out that, like you said, people are often referred to by their last names. in sports when shane and ilya call each other “hollander” and “rozanov”, it’s them seeing each other as rivals (rivals that hookup but still). when they say “shane” and “ilya” for the first time, it’s them basically saying “i see you as a real person that i genuinely like” and for shane, that’s too real for him because it means facing the impossible (coming out, being in love, etc.) that’s the reason he gets up and leaves. when his first instinct was to say “ilya” right back to him, he realized he was in too deep and that was terrifying and he needed space to process that. (ps. good luck with episodes 5&6 dude. you’re gonna need it 😭)

marie

also, i love watching you react to this with so much understanding of them as characters and also their situation. i grew up as a gay woman in a sport that’s very unkind to gay women and i was dating a girl on my team in complete secret for a while until we got outed so a lot of HR feels super personal to me and seeing someone like you react to a show like this would’ve been so helpful for younger me 🙏

Anna

Oh Danny, I’m so sorry about your family and ur grandad. I’ve been through it. It’s hell on earth. Especially when no one helps in any way. Ur in my thoughts

j-l

im always confused as to why some ppl think ilya is trying to toy with shane or lead him on when thats not whats happening, theyre both aware that theyre casual cause theres no other way for them to be together. theyre basically just trapped in this situation bc even tho its killing them they cant stop themselves from seeing each other. ilya is actually the one trying to get closer to shane in this episode and shane is the one who shuts it down. i really understand both povs bc even though ilya is trying to open up and trying to figure out if shane is also bisexual he isnt being direct enough, which is very confusing to shane since most autistic ppl need very clear communication. and just the fact that ilya is trying to get closer to him freaks him out cause its a change in behavior that he doesnt understand. and then theres the first name thing as well, it all got too intimate and confusing for him. and then for ilya i cant imagine how horrible it must feel for him to have shane walk out on him when he finally after years and years let himself be vulnerable. he really tried his best. he had it all planned out, asked shane to stay the night (btw some ppl miss this but shane never slept over, they just took a nap together), made him food and got his favorite drink and tried to actually get to know him better. it was a huge step for him. then shane leaves and the next thing ilya sees from him is that he has a girlfriend. ilya feels rejected and thinks shane doesnt actually want HIM as a person. he has a lot of trauma from his dad and brother that has made him feel unlovable, so of course his walls go right back up. also, ppl tend to think hes mad at shane but hes really just heartbroken. yes hes jealous, but it comes from a place of hurt. hes jealous of the fact that shane and rose can be open, they can hold hands in public, rose can come to his games and wear his jersey. things he wants with shane but cant have. its all just so unfair for both of them :(

j-l

the way ilya immediately backtracks and starts calling shane by his last name again when he gets up to leave hurts :( the second ''hollander'' sounds like hes pleading, like ''please dont go, we can forget what i said and go back to normal, just please stay.''

JRod

Loved this reaction and how well you interpret everything! Ep 5 is beautifully crafted and has everything you never knew you needed in a TV show. I can't wait for your reaction! Word of the wise...bring an emotional support blanket or tissues because emotions will be running rampant 🫠

bookswithedith

I would 100% really enjoy seeing you react to the new season of euphoria

Bella

Yess i would love to see you react to the summer i turned pretty

Luke Eberhart

Another great reaction video. I'm curious about your perception that Ilya is "love bombing" Shane and would love it if you could talk more about that before the next episode. Obviously, most of us here have seen the entire series already (and many of us have probably rewatched it more times than we can ever keep track of), so our perception is going to naturally be different. I agree with a lot of the other commenters that I don't think Ilya was love bombing, but I could see why it might seem that way after the way he treated Shane in the second half of Episode 2. And, more significantly, I think Shane may have worried that that was what was going on as well. I think Ilya did treat Shane pretty badly in Episode 2. He had his reasons, but it still wasn't very nice and I think it did make Shane feel confused and even unwanted to an extent ... at least on a level deeper than just being fuck buddies. I don't think that was Ilya's intention, but it is what happened. (If you are interested in the book author's perspective on what Ilya was thinking, I'd definitely recommend checking out the "Las Vegas Remix" chapter posted on her website. You may want to wait until the season is over to check it out though). That's obviously important context for Episode 4. I think you said this in your reaction, but I believe the reason Shane left prematurely was because he felt the walls he put up after the Las Vegas scene in Episode 2 starting to come down and it scared him. I think he probably was worried that he was being love bombed by Ilya and would get hurt if he allowed himself to care about Ilya again as if he were more than just a casual hookup. For that reason, I do have to disagree with one thing you said. I don't think the last sex scene on the couch at Ilya's house was cold at all. If anything, it was too heated and intimate. And a lot more sensual than what he had with Rose. You can see on Shane's face as he's following Rose up the stairs at the end of the episode how much trepidation he has about having sex with her. And he is looking away from her when he climaxes while they are having sex. It is the intimacy of the last sex scene with Ilya, where they call each other by their first names for the first time, that freaks Shane out and causes him to run away. Anyways, sorry for the novel. Thank you for putting out these reaction videos. I have watched a lot of them and they tend to get a bit repetitive with a lot of people just repeating the same takes about everything. Your thoughts are always fresh and thoughtful and I really appreciate that.

nutellanat

these reactions have been amazing! i agree that this show was so well done in every aspect. i so appreciate your thoughtful commentary and empathy towards the queer experience. being in the closet or emotionally suppressing your identity, regardless of the reason, inevitably becomes emotionally taxing. even if you don't have specific gay trauma™, all queer people have to grow up in a homophobic and "other-ing" society. i think its tough for most straight people to really empathize with that. i was hoping you'd like the show but seeing you connect with it so deeply is so lovely!

Jeremiah Geans

Hey Danny I gotta warn you I’m not sure if you anyone did next episode gets pretty emotional and it’s so beautiful i recommend bringing a lot of tissue

Abbie

Just being honest you probably don’t need to react to euphoria season 3 on here😭 I would of course watch it and enjoy your reaction but there’s definitely better, more worth it shows. Just my opinion! And I know you’re extremely busy😅 loving watching this show along with you for the first time!! :)

V

About Hudson’s other works, you were first introduced to him in Laufey’s Madwoman mv. Thats where you first mentioned his skills as an actor and what made me sign up to your patron lol - funny how that works. And I was most definitely not disappointed 😜

Anni

little fun fact: Hudson Williams who plays Shane did not know that they would spray champagner all over his face, only the other cast members knew. So that is his genuine reaction haha :)

ondraya

Regarding Hudson's acting career, both him and Connor essentially are having their big breakout roles from Heated Rivalry. Both of them were waiters before this, but also small-time actors. Aside from his plethora of short films (that he's acted in and even some that he directed himself), Hudson has had small appearances on network tv shows like Allegiance and Tracker, and even a spot on an older Lifetime movie that was actually just added to Netflix and promoted solely for the Hudson Williams hype lol He's already locked in a handful of pretty big projects (Yaga, Apparatus, Tyrant, etc) so I'm certain we will all be seeing much more of Hudson and Connor going forward. Connor you might've seen before if you've ever seen Joker 2. He appears at the end. He's also in the movies Riley and April X. And he also has a bunch of short films and even a film that he himself wrote and directed that will be coming out eventually called Transaction Planet. He even has a guest appearance on Criminal Minds that was filmed pre-Heated Rivalry that will also be coming out eventually. And since Heated Rivalry, he's also already booked a few projects (Peaked and Turpentine). It's refreshing to see new faces making progress in Hollywood and seeing genuine talent and hard work be rewarded in a world of nepotism! Truly rooting for these boys to have even more opportunities.

Sara

Hey! I love your comments and insights on the show, and I can't wait to watch the last two episodes of this season with you. On the other hand, it's already a bit bittersweet that there are only two left 😭. I’ve probably watched the series 20 times myself, but every time I watch it again with others, I learn something new. It’s been awesome watching it with you because you’re not afraid to speak up, comment, or show your feelings 💖💖💖 I hope that when Season 2 is released, we’ll get to watch your journey together then, too. We’ll have to wait a while for that, though, and in the meantime, I hope the channel will show other tv series/shows, for example, Fellow Travelers or the U.S. version of Shameless.

Kinsey Sporrer

Love you and your comments so much:) I will say I stepped away from sports because of the same energy from most fans and being a woman. But, I do have to say. Have been a steady fan with Formula one and it is so amazing. It s one of the only sports that has almost a even split of men and women ( and of course non binary) but t is for the most part o lovely and so fun to watch and with a smaller athlete base you really get to know them as people. Of course you get to know some of the engineers too but it is an incredible community.

Rsbl

Whooo I just subscribed and your creations to HR are clearly the best ones, your comments are always so interesting... can't wait for the interviews at the end of the show 🙌🏻 And im so sorry for your friend, sending you a lot of love ❤️‍🩹

Madison

I think I said this on the past post, but there was a moment that I think you missed and it is where Kip was asked what his dad thinks and Kip says that his dad probably thinks he is sleeping with a married man so that’s when it revealed to us that his dad knows

Madison

My grandma has Alzheimer’s and she lives with my aunt but my aunt make us pay her to take care of her own mother and she still complains all the time about it it’s so fucked up and exhausting

Dee

Love your reaction and how emotional you get while watching this show xoxo

Reinaldo Aguilera

I seriously can’t wait for you to watch Episodes 5 and 6. I was a wreck so I know you will too 🥹

Laurasr618

I’ve been waiting to watch euphoria season three until the whole season is out so I would love to watch it with you!!

Miguelito

The “Next Episode” button is right there!! 😫 Thank you for the reaction to this show. You’re the only reactor I can sit and listen to with Heated Rivalry. 👌🏽

Lupita

Definitely think you would love to watch The Summer I Turned Pretty it's a great show!!!!

David Wayne Fox

I've watched this show 6 times all the way through, plus countless YouTube reactions, but I don't think I've seen anyone get as emotional during these first four episodes as you have, Danny. I mean the show, especially the last two episodes, never fails to move me to tears but I love that you have been so sensitive all the way through. I'm expecting to watch the last two episodes with a huge box of Kleenex next to my chair because yes, I will be crying right along with you as well as laughing.

Mariah Daley

Several people pointed out that Ilya is trying to get Shane to open up about his sexuality when he’s talking about girls. But I also think he’s trying to say that if Shane has heard about him being with girls, it’s not because he has feelings for them. Ilya specifically tells him that the thing between him and Svetlana is just sex and “nothing more than that for either of us”. And points out that it’s nice to have a regular woman around. I think that is his way of saying it takes some of the pressure off him if he is seen with a woman. But Ilya is a shitty communicator for many reasons, and Shane is really bad at reading between the lines because of his autism. I think you should rewatch the sex scene on the couch again but really focus in on their faces. I like that you pause when you have something to say, but if you watch that scene uninterrupted, I think you will not find it to be at all cold. If anything, the exact opposite. My heart shatters for both of them when Shane leaves. The way that final moment in the episode is edited, I’m pretty sure we are meant to understand that Shane is thinking about Ilya to help him finish

Masterpiece YR

Hey, you mentioned that you are searching for a new show to react to. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND the Swedish coming of age drama YOUNG ROYALS!!!!!! Jacob Tierney, the producer of Heated Rivalry, is a huge fan of this little Swedish masterpiece and he made Hudson (Shane) and Connor (Ilya) watch the intimate scenes in this show before shooting Heated Rivalry. The chemistry between the two main characters in Young Royals (Wille portrayed by Edvin Ryding and Simon portrayed by Omar Rudberg) is unmatched. Young Royals is way less steamy (the main characters are between 16-19 years old), but the storytelling, filming, lighning, music choice, parallels, symbols,....are SOOOO WELL DONE! If you give this show a try, please watch it in the original language Swedish with subtitels, even if Edvin and Omar did the English version by themselves.

37:06, Ilya's playing with his ear in this scene which is a sign for him being utterly nervous about all the personal stuff they talk about. it's completely new territory for them being in his space and not being just physical. he wants to test the waters since he wants to know if Shane really is into him like he is into Shane as well - that's why he brings up Svetlana. though they both do not have their guards down entirely. you can see Ilya's nervous ticks throughout the whole show - playing with his ears, rubbing his face, nose and thumbs. all signs of inner distress.

Love you and I’m so glad you are reacting to this! You’re so emotionally intelligent and I always feel happier watching you.

Kalisoul

It’s tough to see from Scott’s POV but Kips dad is in the gar bar for his son’s birthday.

Possibly go into Jacob T.’s other show; LetterKenny. It also has 6 episodes per season. The actress who plays Elina was in 13 episodes of LetterKenny. Jacob called her to say he wrote her words with her in mind.

Kalisoul

Did you see about the German ref who’s been beaten up outside twice since he proposed to his boyfriend?

Kalisoul

I think it’s her (the actress herself) grandfather was an Olympic medalist for Russia in hockey

In the books it’s the NHL with different team names (Boston are the Bears); but in the show, the had to change the league name and all the team names (bears is too close to the bruins for Boston). Jacob T. disclosed that since they had to change all the team names, he decided to have fun with the logos; the logos are either Tops (Bostons cannon) or Bottoms. lol

Shaun Campbell

just wanna say i am shaun from Australia and i am loving your heated rivalry reactions so far. your reactions are so deep and heart felt.

Aaron Boone

Yes, please watch season three of Euphoria, lmao.

Interestingly in the book, Rozi strikes out cause the woman has a man who likes to watch her get into it with guys on the dance floor. lol

I was worried about you during the Ilya moment with his dad. I wanted to say something the first episode but I didn’t want to ruin it. Just know that my heart aches for you and I understand your anger and frustrations. You have an amazing heart and when it’s all said and done you will look and won’t regret a single second. One day it will give you peace of mind knowing you were there in the ugly moments.

Jennifer Conner

Man.. I've really been enjoying your reactions to this show so far, but this episode? I cannot explain how EXTREMELY frustrated I was with you for getting everything SO COMPLETELY wrong! Idk if you were just having an off day or what, but the way you were shitting on Ilya and not understanding his feelings AT ALL *really* pissed me off. You misinterpreted a lot of stuff with Shane as well! I sure hope the next two reactions make up for this one...

5:30...there are two moments in episode 3 where you know Kips dad knows that Kip is gay. First is in the bar when Elana asks Kip what his dad thinks and Kip says "That I'm f&^king some married GUY probably." Then at the end when Scott is watching through the window of the gay bar of Kip's birthday...you can see that Kip's dad is at the gay bar with Kip's gay friends celebrating Kip's birthday with them. I am really enjoying your reactions to this show. You're very insightful and empathic and I love it so much!!

57:41 In episode 3, to the left of the bodega---where Kip bought the socks----there is a Movie poster for 'Under Dark'---the "bad" move Rose Landry was in.

John Frederick

I'm loving this entire thing! You're the second reactor I'm subscribing to on Patreon, EVER, and it's been a blast! You should check out Bridgerton, if you haven't, The Gilded Age, Sex Education, Scandal, How To Get Away With Murder, Succession, La Casa De Papel, honestly, I could give you an entire list, lol.
