I think Olivia did a great job. She was nervous at first and I don’t think the first couple skits hit very hard. But once she got into the groove she really did well. I do think she works really well as the straight man because her reactions and response timing is really funny. Like the ex bf sketch or the taxi one. I think that’s what’s really hard when it’s your first time hosting, you have such a short amount of time for the writers to find your strengths. But I think they did a good mix of working to her strengths and also putting her outside of her comfort zone. I think she’s def gunna double duty again. Highlights were aziz as Kash Patel, the fudge hole, Ashley in that ex bf sketch, and the taxi Jamaican dance hall sketch. And of corse Olivia’s performances. Also I know ppl were mixed but the cheating singing sketch had me cracking up at how stupid it was. So I enjoyed it.

After episode 6 you need to watch Connors SNL!

Begged is giving me favorite crimes older sister. But if the older sister grew up listening to Simon and Garfunkel instead of Taylor swift. It was so beautiful and her voice has matured beautifully. It’s less cursive and more open and full.

Yesss I’m so happy right noww the best timing always I swear😮‍💨🔥🔥

I’ve been seeing so much discourse about people turning on Olivia’s ex because of the lyrics of this and being kind of para social, and it just makes me so sad that there are some people that listen to music and the only way they can interpret it is the literal lore. I feel like the most amazing part about music is how it connects to YOU. So like I’ve been seeing people who are relating it to a one-sided friendship or an emotionally absent parent. And I think that’s beautiful.

I am so glad to see Olivia Rodrigo.Come so far.I loved her first album. It was amazing. You know , I also grew up with her as a kid with bizarre bark , and i'm glad she's finally making music again.

Craig

It's so crazy with people like Maga, we would never get Justice. They're so submissive. I agree with what you said in the beginning

Don't wanna Spam comment, so this is gonna be my last one. But I like videos like this.

The whole, we laugh too much, is so real. It’s playing out in real time in the Broadway community rn. This morning there was a fire at the Eugene O’Neill Theatre, where the book of Mormon has played for over 10 years. And now hundreds of people are out of a job. This historical building is damaged. And people are making jokes like saying throw some Mormon holy water on it. It’s disgusting. People are soooo desensitized it’s really scary

I’m loving how camp SNL is becoming these days! The absurdist humor is right up my alley hahaha. Olivia sounded incredible!! I think 'begged' already confirms that 'drop dead' being such an upbeat track 1 is no coincidence! Lmao at you rewinding a million times to hear Connor’s voice. He’s so adorable! 🥰 I second everyone saying you have to watch his SNL episode once you get into the HR interviews! 😉

johanna

please react to connors snl performance!!

The first five seconds in and I already love it because of Star Wars day recognition! May the force be with you, Juke 💙 Right before I started watching your video I actually finished watching "Star Wars Episode 3" on one of our national channels in Ukrainian. Moreover, I started playing "LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga" today. Gosh, it feels like a full Star Wars day in my life for the first time And it's just 2 days after the Harry Potter day (May 2nd, the day of Battle for Hogwarts) (I am also a Potterhead). And I actually went to a bookstore and bought the first Harry Potter book in English (I really love the Bloomsberry cover arts). So now I will try to read my first book in English

To me begged feels like kind of settling. Like you love the person so much but they aren’t giving you what you want, and when they do it’s only after you asked for it or begged. Not wanting to leave because you love the person so much and feeling stuck

Liv Heskett

The background vocalist with the long brown hair is Weyes Blood. She did the backgrounds alone at the one night only concert. A little disappointed we didn’t hear more of her but you’ll hear her on Lana’s chemtrails album. Her voice is like a perfect mix of Karen Carpenter and Joni Mitchell and that is such high praise but it’s very accurate.

Liv Heskett

OK, this is my last comment. I swear I just have so many thoughts lol. But I don’t think it’s a coincidence that she mentioned Lana Del Rey in her interview with Jimmy Fallon, and specifically video games inspiring her sad love songs. Because Lana famously during her concerts performs video games swinging on a swing. And before anyone comes for me, I’m not hating. If this is an homage than I love how her mind is working!

rocio

the way that the first time you hear Connor's actual voice is through a snl cameo is INSANE and hilarious!

i see weekend update as a "laugh so we dont cry"

Always appreciate how fast you get these reactions out!! This is going to be slightly ranty so my apologies 😭 edit: I look like an insane person. Sorry everyone 😭😭 I have a lot of different thoughts about begged honestly, and it's definitely one you can interpret in different ways. I wonder if the album will also have a lot more context to it. I'm actually not sure she'll release this song as a single (no bridge and I'm not sure how well it'd do on radio honestly), but it's such a beautiful song. I absolutely love it! I can definitely see the settling vibe to it but I also think it explores themes of self-doubt and anxiety The one I can personally relate it to and it's definitely not a certainty but I get a lot of vibes of a long distance relationship and the doubts and anxiety that comes with that: "All that I want is to sit here silently And watch movies on TV What a shame, you're not here Here to witness my devotion And my endless well of needs" Then you obviously have the themes of approval which are more like... she's getting what she wants from her partner but she has to beg to get it. Then that leads back into the insecurities and the self-doubt because why does she have to beg? Almost like she's asking the same things over and over, but they're not making any progress (despite her gaslighting herself that it's improving at the start of the chorus almost: "So, I'm patient, you're learning, pretend it's not hurting") And that then leads back to her anxious thoughts about if it's just normal to feel like that in a relationship: ""And I have this thought when I lay in bed at night That I feel trapped inside my life Is that a normal thing to fight back the waves Of a static lover's dread? I'm overwhelmed, I'm underfed"" I also saw a similar thought on Reddit but maybe it's expressed better than I can: "It makes me think of love languages, or how she prefers to feel and receive love. I think she's saying "hey, we have a good thing here, but in relationships i tend to need more of x and y." And he says "okay, yeah." And then she's like, "no, but really, i need more of x and y, please, like I've mentioned before." And he says, "yeah, okay, I thought i was, but okay", and shes like "(insert very specific example of what x and y look like for her)". And so he does it, maybe its half-assed, maybe its with full commitment but he doesn't do it unless she reminds him and asks again (hence the "im patient, you're learning"). And shes left feeling like, "yeah, hes great! We're great! So in love! So ~healthy, this is what effective communication looks like, right??" And "well, he does what i need, mostly, but it feels kinda off, and kinda like he doesnt hear me, but its ok, bc love is patient and kind, and this is a good thing, so i just need to accept it and let it go, I'M being the problem by being insecure and needing/expecting more from a man. He's just a man! He needs these reminders!" And she comes to realize, "hey, even if he does the things i ask for eventually, maybe i don't feel very loved or happy afterwards, because i had to beg for it, and ultimately that means I'm not feeling heard or valued. Communication is important, but I shouldn't HAVE to beg to get the things I'm clearly voicing are important to me from a partner who claims to love me so much. But still, maybe I'm just being picky and i should just accept this love for what it is, because he clears the bar the other guys set for me."

Omg her falling through the stage was the show I went to in Melbourne! Her monologue was great!

Nicole Sadler

This was so fun! Love Olivia's new song, man her voice with those background vocals/harmonies was so beautiful!

Ray D

Watching you trying to process the Alix and Alex drama was funnier than the skit itself 😂

fireheartinthetrees13

I loved the new song, but as someone in a happy relationship, I didn't relate to it until I saw someone say to listen to it from the perspective of a child feeling like this towards their semi-absent parent, and then it reallyyyyy got me

all2well

I'm pretty sure cats flash they're butt at you for no reason because it's a sign of loyalty but I'm not 100% sure

The way this made me miss Olivia’s acting 😭. But I love that she went to stay on the music route because that second song is unbelievable and I shed a little tear. It was so beautiful and I cannot wait to hear it on the album. Oh don’t worry it’s hard said and even remembering high school musical the musical the series. Most times we call it HSMTMTS. But on the fun side we just call it the alphabet show. Which she is great in. And even after she left to pursue music full time it’s still a good show imo. That show changed my life. But yeah I love seeing Olivia on Snl.

Sarah Nielson

Why the fuck does it keep freezing and take like 20 mins so start playing again every like 3 or 4 mins this is driving me insane...

Rodrigbro

Props for recognizing Debbie Harry. Love is Embarrassing is so Blondie coded

jackie :)

i took the new song as kinda when someone can't or doesn't love you the way you want them to and how even when someone may try to do it, it probably doesn't feel good or as sincere when you have to ask for it or in this case begged for it in the first place. i loved it and can't wait for it to be released! btw love when you react to her!

The song "Begged" took my breath away when I heard it. Unfortunately I relate to this song a lot right now. Until recently, I was in a relationship for 8 years and we lived together for most of that. The night Olivia sang this song on SNL was the day they moved out. But I've been telling myself that "begged" is where I've been living for many years but "Drop Dead" is where I'm going, now that this space has opened up in my life for new love. <3

Holly Woods

Her new song is a goosebump giver, my god, her voice is just insane and she makes it so effortless. Her voice drops with authentic emotion, plus what a beautiful way to present it, such a stripped back, soul bared performance. She's not afraid to talk about loving hard, she bares all, from what is sometimes the darker parts of loving someone, the unrequited, the beautiful love, the innocent love...in so many different ways. This reminds me of that toxic love, the one we've all had at some time, the one that hurts more than it heals, but you're so deep into it that you'd do anything for them even if it hurts you, you prioritise that person and will go to any length to have them love you back.

MyopicFaidon

I fell in love with “begged” the second I heard it, what a beautiful song. Also, being outside of the US this is the first time I’ve watched a full SNL episode and not just the skits on YouTube. Thanks for this!

Vicky

Yayyy I really love your reactions to Olivia Rodrigo, keep them coming!
