Welcome back to another Movie Night! We're continuing the Harry Styles Deep Dive with a look into his acting career with "Don't Worry Darling". I've been interested in this movie since it came out and am just now seeing it for the first time. We've got the incredible Florence Pugh starring alongside Mr. Styles. Olivia Wilde has a role and directs the movie. Let me know your thoughts in the comments!

"Don't Worry Darling is a 2022 American psychological thriller film directed by Olivia Wilde from a screenplay by Katie Silberman, based on a spec script by brothers Carey Van Dyke and Shane Van Dyke. Starring Florence Pugh, Harry Styles, Wilde, Gemma Chan, KiKi Layne, Nick Kroll, and Chris Pine, it follows a housewife in an idyllic company town who begins to suspect a sinister secret being kept from its residents by the man who runs it." - Wikipedia

I recommend Lady Bird and Turtles All the Way Down, they're both really incredible movies. Lady Bird is hilarious but has this beautifully messy mother daughter dynamic, while Turtles All the Way Down is a really powerful, empathetic look at first love and navigating mental health, specifically OCD 🤗🤗

Thank you for having us. This is thought provoking, and I could not watch it alone.

Varonika Singer

Love this movie!!!!! Crazy huh?? 🩷 So glad you watched it!!! Next watch Valentines Day! It has Taylor Swift in it and that's where she met Taylor Lautner 😊 sorry I don't know where else to request this .

Kelsey

Omg iconic one of my favorite movies ever

becca

ive seen people note that when Jack is dancing on stage during his promotion he looks almost like a puppet on strings

Mary

His accent is actually like that for a reason. Jack is living in a fake, constructed reality and is basically playing a version of himself rather than being his real self. The fact that his accent doesn’t sound completely consistent acts as a subtle hint that something about his identity is off. He’s caught between the real world and the persona he’s created in Victory so it makes sense that it’s getting “mixed up”

Kinda wild how you predicted the plot in the first few minutes by thinking that a man in the ‘50s giving his wife the watermelon sugar high was too good to be true 😂😂😂 I agree—Harry’s nonverbal acting was especially fantastic here. I’m even more excited for you to see him in My Policeman though. He has much more of a lead role, and I think you’ll really appreciate the importance of the story. So ready to rewatch Red, White & Royal Blue for the millionth time with you!! 😂 Now… while it’ll be difficult to focus with both you and Taylor Zakhar Perez (seriously the most gorgeous man to ever exist) on the same screen, I have milk prepared and gladly accept the challenge. 🥛🏳️‍🌈🫡

i love this movie and LOVED your reaction! i remember watching this at the cinema with my friends and we were shocked cause we definitely didn’t expect this plot twist!

Mary

Wow, thanks for posting this. I never saw it before, what a crazy movie! It was really good though.

Ana Beatriz :)

That movie is wild, it’s really funny watching you try to process everything haha And I get it, the first time I watched it I spent the whole movie like "WTF is happening here?"😩

xavierdelrey

I remember the first time I watched this movie and I was so shocked by the ending I wish we would have saw what happened after she woke up though! Also can’t wait for red white and royal blue!!

ashlee

i enjoyed seeing your genuine reaction! it was an INSANE plot twist. this movie is absolutely incredible and it's so fun when i notice little easter eggs the more i watch. i watched this in theaters the day it came out....with my older brother 😬 (so let's just say some scenes were a little awkward to watch and i wasn't expecting it lol but seriously wonderful acting from everyone). 10/10 movie night, thank you!!!!

I found it so disturbing when they showed Jack's application for the Victory Project, and one of the questions was whether there was a "pre-existing relationship" with the "chosen wife." It makes me think there were men there who just kidnapped women they weren't in a relationship with and trapped them there to cook, clean, and have sex with them whenever they wanted. So fucked up.

Swee Lee O'Gorman

I actually really liked the film despite the harsh reviews. glad you enjoyed it, definitely check out My Policeman

The first time I saw Harry as an actor I was like, well Harry, I’m glad you chose singing instead because I love your music but your acting chops are as phenomenal as your music chops. He commands the screen just like he commands the stage. It’s really not fair. If he actually wants us to think he’s human and not an angel, he needs to be bad at something just once. Seriously fun watching this with you, I’m kinda glad it caught you off-guard as to what kind of movie it was. I love Harry for picking roles that are not making him look like the good guy. Ugly Harry is fascinating. Such a handsome devil.

Lisa Labugger

There are so many secret details in the movie. It’s insane. You won’t find them the first time watching. But for example when they were at franks house and the guy closed the curtains to hide the lady. There was a snippet of Alice in the curtains. So yeah crazy.

Lisa Labugger

And jack taught Alice how to drive so she could escape. Jack was blinded by love. All he wanted was to have his life with Alice in peace and happy. But he went too far and it’s sad it ended like this.

bre

Lmao your theories changing every 10 min was literally me when I watched this the first time …. I feel like I didn’t know what was happening until the end 😂

Lisa Labugger

My policeman is a beautiful movie. You’ll enjoy it

Finally sitting down to watch this with you this morning while I make my morning coffee!!! I love this movie, I want to see him in more movies!!!🔥

Mary

Oh wow, I just finished watching what a movie, and what a great reaction! I’ve always felt it got way more hate than it deserved because so much attention was put on Harry and Olivia’s relationship instead of the actual film. Honestly, I thought it was really good. The visuals were beautiful, the mystery kept me invested the whole time, and the atmosphere was so immersive. Florence Pugh was incredible, but I also think Harry did a great job. Considering all the criticism he got, I thought he fit the role well and held his own alongside such a strong cast. It’s a shame the off-screen drama overshadowed the movie because it was genuinely entertaining and a lot better than people give it credit for

Mary

If you want more insight into Harry’s approach to filmmaking, acting, and his creative process in general, I really recommend watching his second interview with Howard Stern. It’s probably one of his most revealing interviews, and you get a much better understanding of how he thinks about his work. I may not agree with Howard’s opinions, but he does have a way of getting artists to open up. His first interview with Howard is also great, so I’d recommend that one too. Not because of the interviewer, but because of how much insight Harry gives into his career, experiences, and the way he sees things. I think both interviews help you understand him on a much deeper level!

kate

It's impossible to notice the little foreshadowing details, but I noticed way later that at 58:18 when the doctor says, "What is that you Brits say?" and Jack's face changes and he gets scared for a second, cause he has no idea. Later, we find out it's because in real life he's American, while in the simulation he's supposed to be British

Ash

GOD I FORGOT HOW CRAZY THIS MOVIE IS. Harry, Florence and Olivia just absolutely acted their ASSES off 👏🏼 sooo good

Anna

I watched this with you for the first time and we definitely said “what?!” at the same time more than once cause WHAT?!😂 wow this was a really interesting movie and Harry did such a good job, that I forgot he was Harry at times haha

Ashli Childs

This is one movie that I had completely wrong from the beginning. I thought I knew what was happening until the end. 😂
