I NEED MORE ACOUSTIC BAND-MAID. This was so gorgeous in it's sound and it's approach.

I would love to do studio/live/acoustic side by side comparisons/analysis if you guys are into that.

Someone please send her the Puzzle and Anemone acoustic live, she deserve to hear Kanami's angelic voice.

It was wonderfull stream and great xmas gift from band. My top 3 is Blooming (today raction), Puzzle and Sayonakidori. Puzzle had acoustic version in 2018 Sayonakidori acoustic was on this xmas stream and is on official yt. Puzzle is worth double reaction. Band maid prime is great way how to support band and get access to concert recordings and many more.

Sayonakidori is great. You get to really hear Miku sing and hear her range as well. She can surprise you with the lows and the really highs.

This concert was one of the best Christmas presents I've ever received. I remember beforehand that anticipation was high, and at delivery expectations were of course exceeded - it is Band-Maid after all. To that wonderment, I can now add your comments about Miku and Saiki's vocals. They were very moving (both the vocals and your comments). You are in tune with their music, and this certainly resonates with me. Twin tails and bangs? Kobato approved, for sure!

While it may be hard to process without hearing additional performances, Saiki really shines when she is allowed to dial it back and is not belting out a hard rock tune. This became really obvious to most people when PUZZLE ACOUSTIC (paired with anemone) was preformed in concert.

"SMILE" was written from the bands perspective, looking over the audience. Akane uses wind chimes from very early on ... she also plays a cajon in this concert ... some high end thing given to her by a music company. However the first time I heard her play a cajon and wind chimes is from their very early 2014 ENGADGET show (which I can give you if you want). Her first humble cajon from when the band was much poorer, purchasing their own instruments, and just starting out is my preference ;) .

I have it if she wants ;) .

Thank you for the heartfelt reaction, I'm sure that most of us that watch this stream felt the same emotions. Miku's voice has more range than Saiki's (Saiki has more power and fullness), she can sing both higher and lower. And you correct about her voice having a child-like quality, it's also why she realized that her voice just didn't have the right feel for what she wanted the band to be (no idols need apply). As others have mentioned, this song was for their fans, about how they felt about them and the view from the stage that they see every time they perform, it's what gives them the drive to do their best every time they perform.

Smile is indeed a love letter from BAND-MAID to the fans. How they look at us from the stage, and see our smiles ... 😭 This band is a miracle...

Glenner7

FYI: Their song called Awkward is in the Christmas show. Band-Maiko did a cover of it called Akasimahen. I don't know of any videos, but the Band-Maiko album audio is on their YouTube page, under Releases.

You have everything :) Thats why I like you LOL

lol ... I am an old collector of ... things :p .

Like all the lyrics Miku writes, they can be interpreted different ways, which contrasts the more strait forward lyrics of the songs that Saiki writes the lyrics. Miku purposely writes this way so each song can mean something unique to each of us, but this song she has gone on record & said was inspired by the fans, & her love of playing live for us. ❤ it's the first of the trilogy of "love letters" to the fans, the others being "About us" & "Memorable" both of which have official MV's on their YouTube.

Two things about " Smile" that I really love is that it could be considered a rock song it would almost fit into any genre from jazz to pop. Also, Misa's bass in this is so soulful and adds so much to the feel of the song. Misa is so intuitive and understated yet powerful in her bass tone that she gives Band-Maid it's distinctive sound.

Saiki's voice is the sound of beauty and sophistication. Miku's voice is the sound of sweetness and love.

Minchorules2809

Yes please, no god would be a good one 🤘

Minchorules2809

The original of this is the b side to bubble, this concert is amazing, you will love it 🔥

Juan San

Curiously, Smile is the B-side of the single Bubble (yes, it has a rock version, with violins and everything, highly recommended), the first two stellar additions to your Patreon. The song was composed by an old friend of the band, Kentaro Akutsu, the creator of Thrill, a composer for whom the five girls have equal parts love and respect. You know "It all started with a small dream story", but none of that would have happened without the success of that first song.

This Christmas concert was awesome (was 3 in the morning here) but watched it at least 3 more times during the day ... just the right mood and pace for CHristmas day.

Charles Coleman

They really are Vladimir! Call it fate, call it magic, call it the hand of God. A miracle they are, Po!

I was not a huge fan of acoustic music before seeing the streaming of this show, but I bought the streaming package for the full 3 months simply because I wanted to support my favorite band, especially in the middle of Covid. The stream started at 9PM EST Christmas eve. I am a mailman and Christmas is the absolute worst time of year for us. 2 months of misery, lack of sleep and way too much work and stress. I got home 15 minutes before the stream started Christmas eve. I was absolutely blown away by how incredible this was. It was the perfect therapy for an overstressed, overworked mailman. This whole show is massage for the soul. And it started with Smile, a love song to their fans. I highly encourage you to do all 14 songs from this Okyu-ji. And if you have Band Maid Prime, you need to check out the commentary versions of this show (broken into 4 parts), where the members talk over the music about their observations. They are so funny here and you get to see how they interact with each other. There is no doubt that they are truly great friends. They laugh, they make fun of each other and they appreciate each other. In the second section of the commentaries, there is part where they talk about Kanami in a possible past life that is so funny. You need to see these!

This whole concert is something special. Stayed up until 4am to watch it live lol. What Misa does during all the songs of the show is undescribable no wonder why she is my favorite bass player, I've learned some of her basslines and the amount of movements and changes in all of them hurt my brain 😂

JimZ

You ABSOLUTELY HAVE TO react to the PUZZLE & ANEMONE (back to back) live acoustic performance from their 2018 Zepp Tokyo concert. And should you do so, make sure to include the quite long music box intro to Puzzle because it sets the tone for the two songs to follow.

Rick

The first of three songs they have dedicated to their fans... Also, Miku's guitar is a Zemitis. (same brand as her electric guitars)
