SJ was not wrong. Both of these songs were and are extremely moving. They are so heartfelt and beautiful!

"About Us" took me out. The lyrics, the video, the instruments used and how they were used...the vocals. The chills I got and the tears I had for this song...I didn't want to cry on Patreon, but here we are.

Memorable was the cherry on top. Again, the lyrics tell a story of a band of maids who love their fans dearly and wanted to use their talents to show them that they are forever grateful.

This is what music is truely all about.

Do you know Story behind ABOUT US? I hope you Do. 🥰

NittPicc Reacts

From my understanding, it was made around the time of the pandemic shut downs, and they were worried about the fans forgetting about them. This is what I was told. Please let me know if there’s more I need to understand ❤️

Rick

I saw this when they did their live stream because they couldn't go to Budokan. Because of the time difference I was up at 2:00 AM watching them.

Rick

That photo I shared with you that I took of Miku with her "heart" acoustic guitar was taken when they were playing "Memorable". Also, the first song they dedicated to their fans was "Smile", which you have already heard. But just in the English lyric part, it's for the fans when they sing "Your smile makes me happy. I'm right here, it's a special view"

Brian Yuen

Saiki actually had explained why they wrote this song to their fans before the song started during the online concert. They had found that their fans felt sad even more than themselves so that they wanted to encourage their fans by this song during pandemic. Really heart warming!

Chalfo

Saiki's introduction to About Us (credit to t-shinji for translation as usual): "We were supposed to meet you today. For the first time in a year, we thought we could meet you all, those of you who could come to see us, but we can’t meet you in the end. I’m sorry. Even though it’s not my fault. We have been having days of turmoil for about a year. In the beginning, we were very surprised because we hadn’t experienced it before, and we had no experience of not being able to meet others in person. We were sad, but we found we shouldn’t be sad in this situation. When I saw you masters and princesses on social media, you were more depressed than us, and we thought that’s terrible. We Band-Maid have been thinking about how to cheer up all of you in the last one year. We truly wanted to meet you at Nippon Budokan, but it’s impossible because of COVID, so let’s wait for the day when we can meet. And in the last one year… or in the COVID pandemic, we have become more eager to cheer you up, and we Band-Maid realized again it’s important to give our songs to you. That’s why we wrote this song for Budokan. We made the album also in the pandemic, so it might have a little similar feel, but this song is planned for Nippon Budokan, and we really want to give it to you masters and princesses now. Budokan is not our goal but just a stepping stone. We will perform at bigger venues, and we promise we will bring you there and give you even better songs, so let’s keep it up a little more. This is our present for you masters and princesses. Please listen to it.”

Good review.

Hi. NittPicc, I’m not good at writing so bear with me. So you knew it and I knew you knew it(nothing to do just asking). That is why IT hit you a bit harder than other reactors who don’t. You are the only reactor channel that I follow as Patreon. Not because of Sunday Maid but because of your second reaction to B-M when you saw the comment “welcome home Princess” from the 1st reaction and you said “It make me feel so Special”. I believe you didn’t know the meaning then(not now of course). Because B-M fans are a bunch of unemployed who have nothing to do but going around watching B-M reaction and comments (including me but I am not old, so working + watching). By now you know Band Maid’s Fans are not the Kindest but I believe we are something🤷🏻‍♀️( that’s all I can say- we do have nasty one and stubborn one but that’s what make us whole family😂). I want to give you sth, as reactor you might not like it but I will try my best to persuade you. I want to give you Blu-DVD(mainly) of Band-Maid Final 10th Anniversary YokoAri Okuyji. Do you have IT already, if Yes you can stop wasting your time reading the rest. If No then PLEASE try you best read the rest. Aww btw I live in Melbourne. You are Princess so you need to experience This Okuyji. It was also my 1st ever Concert ( unfortunate it was Live streaming. When I saw your expression watching Kanami Docu and hearing some songs . I really want to give you this BluRay. Here the deal you can do live streaming on YouTube. You don’t need to show any thing from DVD. You just have to set up the time so we can watch together and chat or you can stop review/react or talk about the song.( a lot of reactors do that so you can ask around). But that gonna be pretty big commitment. That Okuyji had 32 (33) SetList and close to 4 hours. You don’t need to worry about running out Band Maid songs because we have our little cute hard working MONSTER MINCHO( 1 more album come soon). You have done 18 songs out of 32 from this set list. There only 2 new songs in this set list that not on there YT channel. You can check out The SET LIST and prioritise knocking out those songs 1st as first time reaction for your YT. Do you want it? It’s yes/no question. You can ignore this if NO or you don’t feel like it. It’s ALL GOOD. THANKS FOR BAMD-MAID REACTIONsS

Prutgardin

Saiki made a very emotional speech before they played the song, so I was already crying when they started the song ;) You should check out her speech ;)

Charles Coleman

Crap. I'm tearing up already and I haven't watched yet. There is no breaking the bond between this band and their beloved masters and princesses.

The onion ninjas are coming! I do love memorable (how could we ever forget you?)... but About Us makes me cry ... every time.

Charles Coleman

It's okay to cry during these songs. Don't feel bad NittPicc, you are in good company and you are definitely not alone. The first time I saw the video for About Us, there was no translation. It sounded like a very beautiful song even if much slower than their normal stuff. 2 days later I saw it again with the translation and I balled my eyes out. Literally sobbing. And I am a 60 year old ex-Marine. They were feeling bad during the lockdown, but they saw online that their fans were feeling down too. And part of what had the fans down was not for our own selfish needs, but we felt bad for them. This was supposed to be played at their Budokan show, but it got cancelled, so they did a livestream and presented this song as a gift to their fans. Cue the tears, get out the mops and squeegees. It would be more than a year and a half til they could be back in front of their fans, but when that happened, all the pent-up emotions were Unleashed in a celebration of joy, love, happiness and everything else good and right in the world.

Charles Coleman

FYI, the outfit Misa is wearing in About Us is my favorite of hers. I just think it suits her so well.

Juan San

Great to listen to these songs with you again. Both have an approach from nostalgia, About Us from longing and Memorable from reunion. Both are like parenthesis signs that contain a difficult stage. I guess in the end we all overcome it with the strength of the desire to live. Both complement each other perfectly with Saiki's speech in that Okiuji online of 2021, which sadly replaced their concert at Budokan, and with the behind-the-scenes documentary of their post-covid USA tour in which Kanami sings to Saiki the rudiments of Memorable. What a great band, what a great time to be alive!

M.and.PofB-M

You did Two songs so it mixed up a little bit About Us= Covid time and Memorable= Fans forget( I think so)

Glen Kelley

Thanks again for continuing to react to Band-Maid and provide us with interesting and (sometimes) emotional reactions to their songs. We all felt the same way as you when watching this live, it was such a surprise and even though there were no subtitles, the message was clear from from Saiki's performance.

frantaf

I cried after About us. It was like 3 a.m. local time when it was streamed, Saiki had an emotinal speech (of which i didn´t undestand a single word :) ) and then they played About us.

David Heijs

I love Band-Maid so much that I cannot describe it. Before september 2015 (21 years of age) I never had a band that I could say that they were my favourite band. I was jealous upon others that had favourites. Until I listened to Real Existence first and Thrill second I fell in love with their sound. And ever since, I never stopped listening to them, their music is part of my life, I am grateful to be alive to keep listening to their songs. Covid was scary and I was afraid that Band-Maid might not be around anymore. I truly hoped that they would make it, as these girls worked so hard to get there where they are. I am proud to see and proud to witness their future eindevers !

Vlad the Maidiac

Tears... Cries... Yes, we all cried when we heard "about Us" for the first time. And the Maids still include that crying section in many of their OKYUJIs. I adore them for their honesty. They don't care indeed for any genres, they just live the life and play the music, and it's all so beautiful 😭 I wanted to comment also about the acoustic guitar stand which Kanami used. No, such things don't exist. They just fastened the guitar to the stand with half a mile of duct tape. It is not really visible in this video, but you can see it in the original The Day of Budokan stream. And yes, Saiki was crying 😢

Bill Hallisey

Princess NittPicc, even we drizzled old men have shed a tear or two when we hear " About Us". Band- Maid always finds a way to make joyful and/ or emotional connections with their audience. As a Patreon, I'm making a future request for you to react to another Band- Maid song, but with two versions. The song is "Puzzle", the official live video from their Tokyo Garden concert. Please make sure you have the closed captioned lyrics in English on. Then react to"Puzzle" the official live acoustic version of the song from an earlier concert. Only Saiki and Kanami are performing that version. Warning: have some tissues available.

Bill Hallisey

Damned spellchecker! I meant drizzled old men

Bill Hallisey

Also, the lyrics to "Puzzle" were penned by the outwardly bubbly and always upbeat Miku. I sometimes wonder about the pain and grief she has felt in her life.

picti_pixie

Beautiful reaction for two beautiful, impactful songs...somehow made me appreciate them both even more, so thank you for that 🤍 Thank you for your candor and for your connection to this music - you truly are my favorite Band-Maid reactor because of your honest appreciation for this band!

Glenner7

The first time I heard this, it was the studio version, and I had trouble believing that it was actually Band-Maid, based on the opening section. I loved your turn of phrase about Akane: "she's calling her soldiers back home". Her drumming in this has always sounded militaristic to me and I believe the song is in essence about marching forward to tomorrow during a very sad epoch for them and for us. And ain't it nice to sit back now and then and have a good cry all together?!? Saiki and Miku's facial expressions especially cut deep for me - even though they must have played through this dozens and dozens of times, they were still having the feels during the okyu-ji. And Memorable is just aptly named - memorable indeed. You remember from the Kanami documentary seeing Kanami playing it for Saiki for the first time on guitar on the tour bus - this is one of very few times we've been allowed to hear a rudimentary demo of what ended up becoming a great song.

Keith Zirwes

I always find it amazing that Kanami came up with the melody for Memorable, during the US tour, sang it to Saiki, who approved greatly, wrote the song and shot the music video of Miku walking in the Mojave Desert in only three months of touring. They always impress me with the creativity and hard work they all possess. Miku joked about the shooting of her walking and that truck you see driving by was just some random person. She laughed about what he must have been thinking seeing a Japanese woman in a maid outfit in the middle of nowhere.

Ryan Bedford

When Memorable dropped there were a lot of comments about the video being heavy on Miku. Then Saiki posted a comment along the lines of how they were about to celebrate 10 years as a band and they owed all to "one little lamb."

Prutgardin

They do indeed exist. I have a Konig & Meyer Acoustic Guitar Performing Stand and there are literally hundreds of different models. The Millenium GSP-1000 is very popular ;)

Eno L

Welcome back Princess... Even though you didn't go through the pandemic period with Band-Maid and the maidiacs, treat this as Band-Maid's belated greetings to you...

Eno L

Is it heavy on Miku or did they just throw her in the middle of the dessert cause she's the only one with energy left to film a MV in the middle of a grueling tour?

Eno L

Yes, her father leaving hit her hard. It seems Miku doesn't cry much. Must have formed a formidable layer of armour around her heart...

Chalfo

Am I right in thinking that this was really the first time Saiki MC'd ??? That in itself adds a fair bit of weight, if correct!

Juan San

I think so. I don't remember any previous MC in which Saiki was alone on stage as the protagonist. I also remember that it was widely commented, at that time, that she was precisely the protagonist of that speech. She seemed like the definitive step as the band's frontwoman.

Spadeas

I said it in the comments under their live version of Endless Story for their tenth anniversary on their chanel, but if the maids call their concert "serving", I think they give us as much as we give back to them. Their concerts are encounters, exchanges between them and us, it is a communion where our mutual love is shared and this is also why many people love this group. These two songs are once again an example, Miku having written "about us" while "memorable" is written together by Miku and Saiki, which for me gives a double meaning and even more force when Saiki sings "I can't express it with words" and which Miku follows with "this time", as if both had difficulty finding the words to express their feelings to us. Even if it is true that "this time" can be related to "we don't surrender", I prefer to interpret it as said above.

Charles Coleman

Memorable hits home so beautifully hard, especially for those of us who saw them during their 2022 tour. This song is so special because I'm one of the ones who they were singing about. Along with 20,000 of my closest friends. Have you ever had someone write and sing you a love song? If you saw them play in 2022, you have. Who does this? Only one band that I know of. They will always be in my heart and soul, po.

Lord Vorador

She has already. Scroll back to her April 28th upload here. It's Puzzle 3-way comparison studio, live, & acoustic. 😉

Bill Hallisey

Band-Maid is so good at "melting you face" with one song and then "melting your heart" with another.

Bill Hallisey

Thanks for that info. I obviously did not catch that reaction, or more likely, losing my mund!

NittPicc Reacts

I will definitly consider it! Let me wee what I have in store for the next few weeks for Patreon and BM Sunday and I'll let you know!

NittPicc Reacts

Thanks for this! People have sent the video and I saw it and got choked up again. 😅

NittPicc Reacts

I really liked her outfit too! Ugh...all of them, their style is just so perfect. 💅🏽

Rebecca Haigh

These songs, touched me emotionally, but in different ways. ‘About Us’ when it was released took me aback on how different it was from what I had heard previously. But in looking at the lyrics I was so impressed that a group would take time to write a song to their fans when they (the band) were going through the same scary thing. Side note: Kanami had a really hard time, during Covid, being away from her band mates and wasn’t eating well (from comments I read). Memorable impressed me with Band-Maid’s appreciation of their fans (Master and princesses) welcoming them on their US (sold out) tour. And, the fans letting them know - they were loved (for their music, and for themselves) which I think kinda blew them away. Thank you for staying strong through your reaction. It hits us all.

Bekka NoyB

me too (Philly 2022)

Charles Coleman

Then we were at the same show!! did you get to make it to the after party? They had an after party at The Tattooed Mom which was such a fun place and it was polluted with Maidiacs! And the drinks were very reasonably priced, too!

Bekka NoyB

Memorable made me cry the first time I seen the video! Rare for a band to care that much for their fans. The feeling is def mutual! ♥

Bekka NoyB

no, no one told us bout an afterparty :(

Charles Coleman

Oh bummer. I know someone was handing out flyers in line and we were mentioning it to everyone we talked to. I am so sorry you missed it, it was a lot of fun! Hopefully if they come back that way again, we can arrange another after party. In fact, I would encourage all Maidiacs to see about doing such for wherever they play next time they come back. The people at The Tattooed Mom were super cool. The guy who organized it had done so previously for a Babymetal show. They were really great.

Charles Coleman

The 2 song acoustic set that Saiki and Kanami did at Zepp Tokyo 2018 is the first time that Band Maid drew tears from my eyes. The guitar is so soulful and Saiki's singing is just so powerfully emotional.

Charles Coleman

Yes, I think it would have to hit her hard to have her father leave her at such a young age, but certainly old enough to understand that he was leaving and to feel that pain. She is a strong woman and she will always persevere, but that has to hurt.

Bandmaidfanatl

Did you catch the violin in the 2nd verse?

Bandmaidfanatl

"I want to wrap myself in this moment." "It feels like it shouldn't end." MinchoMagic...And it's not about them... it's About Us

David Cook

MISA MISA MISA!!!!!! Saiki "I will light your life up with my voice" the World "YES"
