The original game OST version is absolutely gorgeous, but the BAND-MAID version is something to behold....whats really epic about the BAND-MAID version is the slight changes in style of the orignal melody. I wouldn't go as far as calling it a theme and variations, but it comes pretty close with how Akane keeps manipulating the feel of the composition.

This was a nice bridge between something I really enjoy doing, which is gaming, and a band I thoroughly enjoy listening to!

The origin of this tune from Wiki - '"Greensleeves" is a traditional English folk song. A broadside ballad by the name "A Newe Northen Dittye of ye Ladye Greene Sleves" was registered by Richard Jones at the London Stationers' Company in September 1580, and the tune is found in several late 16th-century and early 17th-century sources, such as Ballet's MS Lute Book and Het Luitboek van Thysius, as well as various manuscripts preserved in the Seeley Historical Library in the University of Cambridge.'

First off, hearing your beautiful flute version of this song, I'm really excited to hear what you and our dear friend Alexej Bagrintsev come up with. 😊 Secondly, this is what happens when you put a piece of music in the hands of master composer Kanamincho. With the help and input of her friends and bandmates, she never fails to excel. I am so glad you got to hear and see this. It is way underrated, but it's one of my favorite songs by Band Maid even if it isn't entirely their own. It's a cover, but they managed to make it their own as you can see. Lastly, this came out not long before the 2022 US tour began. The emotions this song conjured up hit hard in a good way. It had been 3 long years since I first saw them live and the longing to see them again, especially after Covid had wrecked so much of our lives was a powerful thing. We were going to get to see our wonderful Ladies again as life returned slowly to normal. This song was going through my head on the flight to LA. This song really struck an emotional chord with many of us and continues to do so in the best way possible. As Ryan Mear put it, ". . . this fucking band." Band Maid. Accept no substitute.

WHAT! No video games!? Now I'm sad ; hehe I didn't expect your BAND-MAID reaction to get all flutey ;) Nice <3

Rick

Band Maid could probably take a Bluegrass song and make it their own.

I love how musicians explain how they see the world. It seems to me to be a special intelligence, an absolutely lateralized thought, something I lack and therefore admire. Thank you. As for Band Maid... there aren't many bands out there more versatile. Something I've learned over time is to expect the unexpected (Jack's original phrase, JBF Music & Guitar) and not try to fit their music into a genre or niche. They have a rock music base of course, but where they will take you from that premise is always a mystery. You have to be very generous to think about whoever listens to you and express your art seeking their surprise, being original every time. These three versions of the same piece with different, increasingly dynamic arrangements are a summary of that intention. Why follow the easy path when there are more fun ones?

Heck yeah, you go. That was very nice (you playing the flute). Also I appreciate the reaction and thoughts to Band-Maid (-1) playing Genshin Impact.

Am I the only one getting some surf rock vibes from this? Especially with Kanami’s cleaner tones.

Ryan Bedford

My dream Band-Maid concert would be them with a full backing orchestra. Kanami's genius would be on full display.

Vlad the Maidiac

Yes, BAND-MAID can do it easily. Their concept is anyway to have everything pre-planned and rehearsed, they always play with a click track. I'm sure they will do it one day.

"Instrumentalists plus Kobato," as Miku put it.

Princess NittPicc, thank you for this reaction and yor beautiful rendition of the song. It was truly moving.

Bill Hallisey

Thank you for verifying what I thought was a version of "Greensleeves"!

Glen Kelley

Thanks for the reaction and this was a wonderful surprise when they announced it. I think that Miku had something to do with getting the invite, I think she plays the game and maybe knows someone there. Also, you should expand the flute part and have your students play it.

Joined channel to check out some of yer Band Maid vids that are not on youtube. Mostly for my fave song - Bubble. Seen this first, tho. Quite a lovely song. Like how they started off with an electric classical version, then segued into a classical rock version only to transition into a harder rock version - all while staying true to the spirit of the original! Gotta ♥ this band's versatility & talent!
