The gasp that I gusped when I saw Misa, Kanami and Akane riding on cars while playing...

The music video is one of the most epic videos I've seen and have proven to me how far these ladies will go for pure epicness. I KNOW I would be good friends with these ladies, because I would've said "hell yeah," to getting ontop of a car and playing my flute. Ha!

Anyway, This was a fun listen with both the music video and the live version.

What is the music video you would show someone to introduce them to BAND-MAID?

My favoritest Band Maid song. #1, nothing above it. Been there since it dropped. The "making of" video for this is on Prime and is really cool. Cold, rainy day and a LONG day. just realized this shows my real name. LOL! ~ S.J.

And that MASSIVE explosion behind them whilst they were playing...... I wonder how they didn't flinch when it went KABOOM!

Bandmaidfanatl

MinchoZilla! And that explosion! 💥 Total Rock Stars.

Bandmaidfanatl

Yeah, Kanami writes countermelodies to Saiki's vocals mostly for herself (of course) but also for Miku and MISA, and sometimes the countermelody will begin with one and switch midstream to another. Very classical.

Daniel Morgan

Unseen World- best album! Every song brings something to the table.

Kanami ... afraid of heights ... strapped to the top of a car ... only eclipsed by her playing on the edge of a cliff in "Influencer". Love the lengths these girls go to for us fans.

Glenner7

Sometimes Kanami plays the same melody as the vocals; sometimes a counter melody or god knows what else. At the end of Black Hole for example, it sounds to me like she's playing both Saiki and Miku's harmony vocals on her guitar. In this song, it's clearly a counter melody. Be sure to watch the "Making" (behind-the-scenes) video on Band-Maid Prime for Warning - it's pretty cool. I think this is their most epic MV to date, and musically what a way to start off Unseen World!

Charles Coleman

To answer your question, if I wanted to introduce someone to Band Maid - and I have, LOL! - There are 3 that come to mind right away. Thrill, Freedom Official live video and this one. Warning.

Charles Coleman

NittPicc, just FYI, The really cool part about the opening to this song is that it's the first song on the album "UnseenWorld" so right out of the gate you just know the whole thing is going to be epic! And it was! Please consider reacting to Afterlife soon. It's also on Unseen World and another epic video. It's my favorite song and video from this album.

Charles Coleman

Hi SJ! Your secret identity is safe with us Po!

Charles Coleman

NittPicc, If you really enjoyed this one . . and you did, please check out Afterlife from the same album. (yes, redundant, I mentioned this a bit ago) It's another epic video which tells a story and the song is a certified ass kicker! Afterlife and Warning are my 2 favorites from this album and both are so amazing to see live. Your head is going to explode for real when you finally get to see them live! P.S. - the new album "Epic Narratives" is on pre-sale now. Release date of September 25.

Princess NittPicc, I don't know if you have reacted to "Influencer", the official music video, yet, but if you haven't, I hope you do. It's a great social commentary on Influencer who concentrate on being "liked" to be popular and make money. Plus the scenery is beautiful and makes you scratch your head trying to figure out how the Maids individually got to the locations they were filmed from.

Bill Hallisey

We Maidiacs all love that shot of Kanami shredding her PRS on top of a car with orange smoky background. There is a famous poster of Godzilla with the same background. That's why some people call her Kanamizilla!

My iniation to Band Maid was Onset live and I was hooked for life after that one.

Juan San

One: Brave Kanami!, challenging her fear of heights to get the best picture cover of their videos. Two: Cool girls don't look at explosions. The small chamber music style intro is writed by Kanami. The ladies have composed numerous pieces of this style such as waltzes that they use in the entrances to their concerts (the Maid Waltz, which change every year), even small music-box style transitions (perhaps the most famous is the prelude to the acoustic duet of Kanami/Saiki 2018). Kanami has also composed more symphonic music intros for the songs Sense and From Now On, at this point we are all convinced that she would be a great classical music composer. To fully understand all the music that the band packs into each song you have to listen to the instrumental versions, everything that happens under the voices is unimaginable. Gracias señorita!

Ryan Bedford

Unseen World was the album where they found ways to utilize Miku's voice other than straight harmonies.

Prutgardin

Akane going off at 195 bpm never gets old, and the 2/4 time signature in the verses really invokes the punk feeling of the vocals ;) There's an Akane-only video version, which is an absolute favourite of mine ;) hehe

wayne dahlen

She did Influencer on her You Tube channel two months ago

Bill Hallisey

I became a NittPicc Patreon only about a month ago, so I don't know all the Band-Maid videos she has reacted to.

Bill Whitaker

If you are a fan club member (Omeisyusama), go to their official internet site (https://bandmaid.tokyo), click on the Members Menu, then click on O-Mei-Syu-Sama Special Movie. On the 9th page (or tab), there is a movie of the making of the Warning music video.

picti_pixie

Thanks for this comparison! Loved it; loved your pure excitement at the video was great. The live version is nice to hear Kanami's playing underneath during the "climax" of the song and is my favorite part to listen to when I listen to the instrumental version of this song! - As for what song would I recommend first to someone, I usually go with from now on as I feel instrumentals showcase the true essence of Band-Maid.

Keith Zirwes

I remember liking the song very much, but wasn't my favorite on Unseen World, still isn't by the way, but I heard them play it live in Detroit and I never knew how heavy it was. I couldn't stop banging my head during the entire song.

Bekka NoyB

How the idea for the video happened (in my head canon): director shares their idea for wanting to film the band up on top of cars. Kanami instantly raises her hand eagerly saying 'me, me I'll go'. They ask MISA. MISA's like 'I'll go if Akane goes with me'. Akane replies 'only if I can play my drums'. Then they ask Miku and she's shaking her head fervently - pig tails flying. 'Nope, no way! I'll fall!' Lastly they ask Saiki, who looks away bored, states (in her too kool kinda way) 'I'm not going up there'. Discussion over. Anyway, that's how I imagine that conversation going.

Bekka NoyB

video is kool, but the live is *chef's kiss*

Charles Coleman

NittPicc - what is the angry looking plushy on the end of your Mic stand/arm thing? Just curious.

Glen Kelley

This was the first time they played this after the release of "Unseen World" when they did an on-line concerted during the lockdown. They also played a number of other tracks from the album. Most of the songs on UNseen World come with a warning label about listening an driving. Also, they release some songs with an instrumental video (called "white room") where Saiki is not singing so we can more clearly hear how different the songs are without the main melody. Some of there white room videos are floating around (they are a bonus for the premium version of the releases).

Tom Hammond

If you Google, kanami godzilla, and go to images, you will find a cool take on this very cool song.

Mike Holmes

Yep, my interpretation of events is that Kanamizilla played such a hot solo on top of those cars that they were excited at the subatomic level to go back in time and crash into each other and explode, so she would have their wrecks to stand upon and shred properly. Driven, of course, by the machine-gun beat that Akane is laying down behind it.

Mike Holmes

As for what song I would use to introduce somebody to the band, it would depend on who I was introducing. For somebody just wanting an exciting band, yeah, Warning is it. For somebody looking for a great stage performance, Domination or Hate. For somebody looking for something melodic, Daydreaming. Etc.

Vlad the Maidiac

Hmmm... It's also the last. Number 7 on Disc 2.

Vlad the Maidiac

Actually, after Unseen World I started to notice that Miku was always doing it. I mean, those unusual "hype man" shouts at the back, what Saiki calls "fake vocals." I remember I realized it one day that Kobato-sama is that type of individual, who has this rare talent, to weave vocal harmonies about the whatever melody is playing right now. I had a friend like this, she had the same talent. When we would have a party, she would take a guitar, and we would all sing a song — of course, in unison, because when you are at a party you don't sing like a proper choir, people always do it in the simplest way possible. But she, while playing guitar for us, would wait until we settle with our main melody, and suddenly start weaving the same vocal webs around our main melody. It's really an amazing talent. I first realized that Miku's talent when I saw a very short video where she's sitting at a drum kit in a studio, and just sings, "Room and Drums and Kobato" (Heia to Doramu to Kobato). Then there was another one, where she is petting her cat Torao, meanwhile singing something which sounds like a lullaby: https://www.tiktok.com/@kobatomikucluppo/video/7017739035007372546 Very few people can do it like this. Miku is really like a bird singing upon a branch of a tree. Never hitting a wrong note, just immersed in her own world of melodies...

Eno L

Saiki says: I only ride chauffeured in the back seat.

Eno L

Yes, the music from the video just didn't click for me somehow... But the live does, weirdly...

Eno L

And then the cat scratched her nose.... 😂

MrMette

I have read that Kanami is afraid of heights. I can not imagine having to play like that on a moving car for a video even with being strapped in, she must have had a tough time there. This was one of the early songs I have heard by them since I discovered them around the time this album released and I have always liked the track because of that. Also, Akane absolutely kills it on the drums, but I guess that's par for the course. The very first Band-Maid video I watched might have been Domination Live as well, but I don't remember. Not sure what I would recommend for newcomers. I think the Domination Live video is still great, but the official Live Hate one is as well.

NittPicc Reacts

I need to get my hands on that DVD. I would be happy to react to them on here! I want to hear the instrumentals so bad!

NittPicc Reacts

This is my “Arin” plushy. It’s actually double sided and has a smiling “Dan” on the other side. I am a huge gamer and a huge fan of the YouTube duo “GameGrumps.” 😅

NittPicc Reacts

I would definitely raise my hand first too. Almost too eagerly. Lol

Charles Coleman

🤣 That is very cool! I do like your Arin. It looks right at home on your mic stand/arm thing. Enjoy your brief break before week 2 of band camp. In case you missed it, I posted the link for the Band Maid cover of Slipknot on your Catharsis patreon reaction a few minutes ago.

Charles Coleman

If you go to the Band of Maids Channel on YouTube, Antony has a few nice videos with just the instrumentals. Some paired with driving videos, some with gaming videos. you might enjoy them. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SZzxj8xlR3M Cheers! This link is just one of many.

Phaeron

And as in so many MVs from B-M, the question arises as to whether there's a little hidden message in here too. 🤭I mean, it's interesting that in a Japanese music video an American Caddi drives against a British Jaguar and they end up destroying each other... Someone on YT once came up with the theory that these represent the respective music markets and that the fact that the ladies are standing in front of, on and between the ruins could be symbolic. I like this theory and love this song. 🔥🤘🏻
