If there are typos in this message, it’s because I’m typing this from the middle of nowhere in Oklahoma at a family reunion:

The video made me search deep for what it means.

I've been told that Miku really liked her job at the maid cafe, but I would assume she ran into an annoying customer every now and then, and trying to keep calm and save face in the main area was fround apon. I assume this is her song of freedom. Letting her 🕊️imagination run wild.

Needless to say. It was epic!

DON'T SAY YOU LOVE ME! The picture on the back wall at the start of the video is NOT of MIKU. I think we ALL want to see NittPicc do the Afterlife dance AFTER her rib heals ;) .

Also, a little Easter egg. At 9:18, notice we get the first (I think) mention of their colors in the magnets on the locker door.

Another one written in Covid times (Kanami was getting her frustrations out). Madness passed from one to another through touch (Except the Janitor - i'd bet that was an editing mistake and they meant to include)

I love this song, and the video has certainly sparked a lot of conversations. Since this is a covid-era production, I always thought that there's a subtext here underneath the obvious maid café references - the people in the locker room seem to infect each other as they come in until madness reigns, then by the time Band-Maid has finished the song, everyone is happy and harmonious. Just like in the Unleash video, Band-Maid saves the world from darkness. I'm not sure what the red bit at the end could represent, though. And today, after all this time, I'm only just now catching on to the slightly darker significance of Miku yelling "Don't say you love me!". As a café maid, I'm sure some of their customers must develop unhealthy fixations on the girls from time to time - I can only image that this might wear down the spirits a bit of even the happiest person.

I think this was actually filmed at the Maid Cafe that Miku used to work at. Also I gather that 2 of the actors did not turn up so the manager and janitor in the video were people who worked at the place. This may be a myth but it sounds good to me.

For anyone who has ever worked in the food or bar service industry, (yours truly, too) you can easily understand the anger portrayed in this super fun video. Most customers are really great, but there are always a small few who can make your life truly miserable. And you still have to be nice to them. Go watch the movie "Waiting" starring Ryan Reynolds and Anna Faris for a more in depth look at service industry angst! This video captures that really well. it is my favorite song and video from Unseen World.

Trying to come up with a top 10 Band Maid song list is damn near impossible, they just have so many great songs - and there's more on the way! But this is in my top 10. This is what a kick ass hard rock song is supposed to be. I talked 2 of my friends into going to Philly in 2022 to see them. My friends liked the songs that I shared with them, but I wouldn't call them Maidiacs. But their minds were blown seeing them live and my one buddy who is a big Black Sabbath and Ozzy fan said out loud "Oh, I like this one!" when Afterlife was played. Yeah, this one is pure unadulterated Badassery!!

Lord Vorador

That is correct it was filmed at @Home Cafe, the famous Maid Cafe Miku worked at in Akihabara. The other part about the manager & janitor I'm not sure... it's the first I've heard of it.

Charles Coleman

LOL! Yes, I second that! Get well soon NittPicc!

MISA is usually the owner and mistress of the second verses. And Miku actually shouts LOUD that "don't say you love me" in their live performances. That´s probably my favorite battle cries of hers. If you are subscribed to her website, they have the making movie of this video in the omei-syu sama special movies section. The girls have an incredible sense of humor so here you can see them putting on some of the most hilarious wedding theater ever.

Miku worked at the @HOME maid cafe in Tokyo, supposedly it's the largest and most successful and from everything that I've read she had a good time there and learned about about customer service. . There's a video on YT about a person visiting and filming their visit if you're interested - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DvRg7Oh6pes As for the meaning of the video, all I'm going to say is that the first girl we see is wearing a red ribbon and the second girl is wearing a blue ribbon.

Bekka NoyB

video is kinda weird :D

Bill Hallisey

While Mikusays she never writes about her life experiences, I can't help but wonder if there was an incident in the maid cafe where she worked that pissed her off enough to put this crazy set of scenes in the video. The lyrics are also indicative of a frustrated vent.

Charles Coleman

"Misa has entered the chat" would make for a good poster or t-shirt. Or a meme.

Mike Holmes

You like the whole cute maid thing...Do you own a maid outfit Nitt? If not, do you want one? If we bought you one, would you do some reactions to Band-Maid in the outfit? :)

Rebecca Haigh

When the red smoke is added, I can’t help but think of Robert Palmer video (I can’t recall the name of it). May be mistaken.

Rebecca Haigh

I also think NittPicc’s comment of ‘Akane’s is my heart’s Good Arrhythmia’ would be a great shirt - but let’s not NittPicc. lol

NittPicc Reacts

I would totally do this! I love the maid outfits. They are so cute! I want a headband/headpiece with a flower like Saiki or Miku. 🥹 they have their red and blue flowers. I want mine to be purple! …can you tell I’ve been planning this out? 🤣

NittPicc Reacts

Make it a picture of an AED machine with the caption “break in case of Kanami” 🤣

Charles Coleman

That would be so cool, too! A fan and friend of mine on Twitter (still not calling it X, LOL) made a shirt featuring Miku wearing sunglasses with cool, graphics and the word "Pigeonati" - a take on the Illuminati. Some people think that we Maidiacs are so into the band that a secret society has been created. We do nothing to discourage this, LOL! The shirt is available on Printerval.com

Charles Coleman

I sent 2 pics of the "Pigeonati" shirt to your Twitter. My phone is crappy, but they are clear enough to see.

NittPicc Reacts

I like your take! I love looking at art and seeing multiple views.

Charles Coleman

FYI, there are some women, even young girls who come dressed as maids to the shows. There are even a few guys who will don the maid outfit as well, which is really funny to see!

Charles Coleman

My bad. The "Pigeonati" t-shirt is on teepublic.com not Printerval.com.

Mike Holmes

Yep, lots of women dressed as Maids, and at least one guy that I saw at the show I went to! :)

After my comment under 'Warning', I can't help but talk about the meaning of the music video here too. 😇 The opening scene was shot in a @home cafe, the store where Miku used to work as a maid and where the idea for B-M was born. And then we see 5 people, one of whom is fed up with her job, and 4 others who gradually(!) join her in the madness, but in the end all pose for a photo like a perfect family. Of course, purely by chance, 3 of them are wearing maid costumes and 2 are not really. 🤭 The story seems familiar to me from somewhere. 🤔 Whoever comes up with the ideas for their MVs, hats off!!!

Byron Iida

Don't know if anyone mentioned this before, but I believe the video was shot at @Home Cafe with some of the actual maids that worked there at the time.
