I needed this one, guys. After working with teenagers for a week as well as preparing mentally to work with them again this next week...I definitely needed this one to lift my spirits!

I call this Mincho's shopping list song. She looks like she is just strumming without thinking about it.

I know exactly what you mean about Miku being a rock in the band. In February of 2023, they opened for The Last Rock Stars US tour (2 in NY, 1 in LA). The 2nd show in NY, Miku's amp went down and though they carried on like pros, you could tell how much Miku's rhythm guitar added to the song Freedom. She really has gotten so good.

Catharsis makes me happy every time! Love this song!

I really enjoy Catharsis, especially the Acoustic version. The whole acoustic show/album is just so special. When Conqueror first came out, I was a bit lukewarm to it with the exception of "Flying High" which I loved right away and still do. It's not that the album was bad, just different from what they had done before. But hearing the acoustic show/album changed that. I was able to fully appreciate Conqueror so much because of the acoustic, which used many of Conqueror's songs. I wasn't even a big fan of acoustic music (I like it, but it's not my favorite), but I wanted to support our Ladies, so I got the full 3 months streaming package. It started at 9PM EST December 24, 2021. I am a mailman and Christmas sucks for us! After 2 months of 12 hour days, I was very stressed, mentally and physically. I got home 15 minutes before the streaming started and was totally blown away by how great they were acoustically. And yes, it was exactly the therapy I needed to recover from the delivery season. The whole acoustic album is Cathartic from start to finish. These ladies can do no wrong.

Just in case someone does not know this, the entire acoustic Okyu-ji is available on Band Maid Prime to members. It's split into 4 parts. They have also included the "commentary" versions, where the members do a running commentary as they watch their own show. English translation is provided. The commentary version (also in 4 parts) is such a fun look into them as friends, not just bandmates and how they interact with each other. It'

Excellent selection for this Sunday, NittPicc! I love that we all "Come Together" around you to spend a good afternoon of music in company. Catharsis is a wonderful song that, like all of this band's songs, has a ton of music inside. The arrangement they made for the acoustic version is within the reach of few songwriters and by the way, kudos to the sound engineers who recorded it. Pristine is at least the adjective that this mix deserves. Thanks for bringing both versions to your channel. BTW: It was Igor Stravinsky who said that "Good composers borrow, Great ones steal." If so Kanami must be the most relevant thief of her generation without a doubt.

I call that little Instrumental part in the acoustic version an "acoustic romp". It reminds me of children, or puppies, or ponies running, jumping, or playing in an open field.

Agree, the commentary is a fun watch, just like the one for the Line Cube Shibuya (which I think is funnier).

Charles Coleman

Dang! I missed that one. Is that available on Prime too? I lose it every time when - in the second commentary - Misa suggests that Kanami was a tree in a previous life. The whole band erupts in laughter!

Love both versions for different reasons. The original studio release, when you're done listening to it, really does feel cathartic. It's so chaotic with all the guitar parts (Kanami records all guitar parts for all the album songs,. then changes Miku's parts to be playable at concerts). The acoustic version is another song that is similar to the original. Also Japanese high schools are really into marching bands, they even sent one one over for the Rose Bowl parade a couple of years - this is mostly an all female band (a couple of boys for the larger instruments) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xkz0l1pqfEg

This was such a great gift from the Maids to the fans! I must have warched this 20 times before my ticket expired. Football? I'm guessing you're referring to that American Rugby, where they don't use their feet? ;)

I would love to get my hands on the. DVD or whatever for this or any of their acoustic performances! Its been said of this Christmas Concert, but you can see the proud look of sensei Tono glancing toward gaksei Kobato at times. When I saw there was an acoustic version of Puzzle, I thought… how will they do that?! Same thing between these two versions. How the gorilla becomes a jazz drummer, Mincho has her very measured (precision) improv out of shreaded rifts… etc…. WOW! What versatile musicians!

Imitation is the ultimate form of admiration? Something like that?

It is really great to hear reactions from someone who has an academic background in music. I was a music major in college for a year, until I realized I didn't want to teach music, and was not good enough to perform well enough to make a living from music. I am going to make a few requests for you to react to. I am going to limit it to 5 songs (which is very hard to do). These will be fairly obscure tracks not many reactors do. Yuragu, Yolo (Kanami piano version plus studio version), You (Just Bring It), Start Over, and Rinne (Conqueror). Start Over is in response to fans not having any Band-Maid songs to sing at karaoke (spoiler alert: Saiki drops an F bomb at the end). Rinne is in response to some critics saying their sound had become too soft (a lot of slower, mid tempo songs in Conqueror).

There is another video that was released recently. It is a Q & A from PRS guitars with Dani from the Warning, and Kanami from Band-Maid. If Kanami is not the personification of cute, I don't know what is. KAWAI !!!

Much appreciation for this - and apologies for late viewing 🤍 I love both versions equally. The moment the song opens up any negative mood is just gone for me.
