I apologize before you click on this video for my EXCESSIVE crying. Please laugh at my tears. These are happy tears. I promise.

This is from a show called Begin Again Korea. The premise is a TV show where established music stars travel around to different countries busking basically. All those others are established stars also. Not a competition. This particular year, Sohyang signed on during the pandemic to travel around their home country to bring comfort during those times. ALL of her performances from this are masterpieces. Misty brought the other performers to tears. I Won't Give Up is heart wrenching. This woman is truly an anointed gift. If you want another Whitney cover, I Have Nothing from 2015 will blow you away. She's wearing a dark blue/purple dress in the best produced rendition. That was my intro to her.

I don’t know if I am ready. I am already so embarrassed that I cried practically the whole time. 🥹🥹🥹

No need for regret crying. She's had that affect on many YTrs who've reacted to her. It's normal lol. Your genuine...that's awesome. One that won't make you cry is her MV for her cover of Never Enough from the Greatest Showman. Also, a tidbit of info for you, if your a pop fan and like(d) the Jonas Brothers, that adorable little guitar player for them...Jinjoo Lee...is Sohyang's sis in law. She has a MV for ger song The Song Begins with Jinjoo. Also a live performance video.

Nostalgia is a powerful thing!

Lol! I did like the Jonas Bros! I don’t like to admit it now…but I definitely did and still listen to their music occasionally. …and that’s so cool! I love when family makes music together. I’m the only musician in my family. 😅

Juan San

Oooh, that was a great cover!

Sing for me. Sing my angel of music.

It wasn’t a comp but she did various mini acoustic gigs during Covid, hence the masks. You should check out all her similar performances during the pandemic at various locations, under the banner ‘begin again Korea’. In the uk we call this sort of thing ‘busking’. She is so relaxed, just chilling, she may as well be in the shower singing in to a hairbrush, we’ve all done it😂😂, this was so easy for her. You only have to watch her fellow singers faces when she’s performing, they are in awe. There are video’s of what went on in practice etc & one of the other singers, who is famous himself in the pop world, said being in the presence of sohyang was like have a living textbook on hand to refer to all the time. She agreed to do these performances because as it was ‘low key’ & of a more acoustic nature, she said was only at about 70% power wise & as she wouldn’t ever have to give it full on belting in these performances she agreed to participate. I am new to your channel so I don’t know much about you but I was going to ask if your mother is still with us because if she is I hope you’re going to show her this vid❤️❤️. I think you should check out her performance of ‘I have nothing’ ( if you can bare it😂) which is a performance at the DMC Festival with a full orchestra when you will see the power kick in. Don’t ever cry when watching sohyang, it’s just a natural response to what this lady does. You have so much to learn about her & her back story, which should go some way to explaining why she’s not the world famous diva her voice surely merits. I discovered her approx 8 years ago & I haven’t heard anyone, female at least, that entraps me whenever she performs, she’s definately my queen to Dimash’s king. I used to dream of a sohyang/ Dimash collab but then I thought, ‘who the hell is ready for that little combo?’ , not me, I don’t think I’d be able to handle it😂😂 Like I said b4, with sohyang, it’s every performance & for me, I visit performances over & over again & although I know what she’s going to do, it still gives me the chills!! She can literally sing any genre, although her heart is with gospel, but obv the big power ballads, rock, pop, blues/jazz ( her version of ‘Misty’ from the ‘beginning again Korea’ series is exquisite) she can rap etc etc. her latest video’s are from a series called ‘movin voices’ which is very similar to the ‘begin again Korea’ series but this time it’s in various places in Europe. Her performances of last gaga’s ‘I’ll never love again’😭😭😭😭 & beyonces’s ‘listen’ & ‘angel’ by Sarah McLaughlin & many others stand out but the latest one to be released is 2 songs in to one & the first part is a Korean song, pretty dark for Korea but the morphs into ‘lacrimosa’ which if you don’t know was the last piece of work written nt Mozart before his death & this is obv more ‘classical’ with a dozen or so more operatic choir members backing her. This was on a church ( she was fascinated with the acoustics in the church)& oh boy, did she show us yet another style she can sing, it blew my mind as I haven’t seen this side of her before. I’ve always said that the only thing I haven’t heard her sing is opera & country music, but never had any doubt that she would smash it if she decided to have a go at either one. This is a long comment, but I feel there is so much to tell you about her & so many recommendations to make but I will leave it there except to say that the best way I can describe sohyang as a person to you is to say that how you feel about her voice & how beautiful it is, that is what she’s like as a person, so humble & beautiful both inside & out. Thankyou for this reaction & I am so looking forward to watching you on your sohyang journey & don’t worry about showing too much sohyang, it’s impossible & there is at least one thing we can be certain of ‘ sohyang NEVER disappoints’ ❤️❤️❤️

Lindsay Grogan

Sorry, my bad!! In my last txt I wrote ‘ you shouldn’t cry when listening to sohyang’ when what I meant to say was ‘you shouldn’t ever worry about crying when listening to sohyang’ 😂😂

Lindsay Grogan

I often think that people like yourself who understand music are very lucky because you understand what she is doing & how impressive she is & can surely appreciate her talents at a higher level than us non-musicians who only know that she makes our ears feel good & our hearts glow. I think I heard her say that she doesn’t have perfect pitch.

Lindsay Grogan

Her pitch is amazing & you will get people trying to tell you that it’s attuned but this isn’t doctored, she really is that good. If they were going to doctor this they surely would’ve taken the sound of the wind in the mic out for starters!!!! So many people seem to hate her & totally fail to recognise her skill & just promote their own personal favourites. It doesn’t make any sense that they might actually think we agree with what they are saying, I can only assume that it’s jealousy!!!! The more reactors, like yourself, that actually know about music, that get put it out there just how good she is, the sooner we’ll get rid of these idiots.

A quick note about one of the recommendations I sent you, het performance of ‘I have nothing’ at the DMC festival. When sohyang performed this, the video was seen by an employee of Oprah Winfrey, who showed it to her, she in turn showed it to David Foster who wrote the song for Whitney. He saw it & flew out to Korea to work with Sohyang. If you really want to hear Sohyang go full on gospel you should check out her version of the ‘other’ ‘lean on me’ ( not the one Michael Bolton sung, although she did perform the more well known version on a tv show, whose theme that day was the ‘songs of Michael Bolton’ ( apparently he’s massive in Asia!) with Michael Bolton literally left speechless by her performance, he gave her a standing ovation & when he actually composed himself & was able to speak, he simply said ‘that was spectacular’ & then went on to say how she taken on the role of ‘virtuoso’ in the performance. There are vids of her performing with MB on stage when he’s been on tour in Asia. Anyway, the gospel version I wanted you to take a look at is her performing the gospel ‘lean on me’ with Brian McNight. You would never think if you weren’t familiar with her that if you wanted someone to ‘take you to church’ , that Sohyang would be your girl 😂😂. A lot of her ‘covers’ contain elements of gospel, even though the song isn’t associated with the gospel genre in its original form. I’m sure you’ve been told many times that not only is she a beautiful singer, but a very talented arranger too & is responsible for the arrangement, both vocal & instrumental for all her performances. She is also a published author of fiction as well as her day job of university lecturer. Lastly, don’t ever be put off performances that are not in English if they don’t have subtitles ( most Sohyang performances have subs on Vimeo) because as I have discovered, not only does it not matter that you have no idea what she’s singing about because she has this ability to make you ‘feel’ what she’s singing about by the amazing way she uses her voice to emote rather than just relying on the words, but imo, you get so wrapped up in ‘her’ performing that you forget to even look at the subs, even when they’re provided, which I find amazing.

NittPicc Reacts

That is so wild to hear that people could dislike her! ...I have seen 2 songs covered by her so far, and both are just absolutely beautiful. You can obviously tell that she has been singing and working on her voice for so long that he skills led me to believe she had perfect pitch. She sings like she does!

NittPicc Reacts

Luckily, my mother is still alive and kickin'! I sent this to her after reacting to this and she immediately told me that I used to sing this song every morning when she would get me ready for the day. Funny enough, she even told me that I used to sing "I Have Nothing" as well, and that song alone makes me cry hearing Whitney sing it...I don't know if my little heart could take Sohyang singing it. ...but I know I am going to want to watch it...!

Great reaction i found sohyang about 6 years ythrough the charismatic voice reaction channels and I was in a really dark place in my life I was homeless in Los Angeles and was pretty much at the end and sohyang came and sung for me and comforted me... Message like the first comment I'm saying always brings out emotions when you listen to a music that's one I heard guess i Believe and I've watched all of Her music and there Really isn't a song where you Don't Go wow and get goosebumps and Yes she's Amazing and truly Does not get the recognition she deserves.
