This episode really brought the teacher out in me. I apologize if it seems like I am disciplining you!

...but this episode PROVES that practice works! Practice beats talent, where talent doesn't work hard.

Normally schools have two types of uniforms in Japan, summer uniforms and winter uniforms, the ones with the long sleeves are the later.

There are life lessons learned in competition. Not only what it takes to win, but how you deal with failure.

Really enjoy watching you react to this Anime. Fun to see you get so involved in the story. I don't know anything about marching and concert bands but this show got me interested. I know you said in the past that you haven't seen the well known Japanese high school band, Kyoto Tachibana High School Wind Orchestra, that has played in multiple Rose Parades and LA Disneyland, but I just came across this video of them playing in Izumo Dome Kamiari Wind Orchestra Festival 2024 (Nov 2, 2024) which might be of interest to you. Since they are playing in a domed arena, the sound and video quality is pretty good so you can watch with your critical band director's ears and eyes. I can't judge how good they actually are, but one thing for sure is that I get the same kind of vibes watching and listening to Band-Maid. I can't stop smiling and feeling their genuine love of performing music for a crowd. Not necessarily for you to do a reaction video, but I would love to hear your professional opinion of their performance. Here's the YT video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zu-EhoVHmkI

Because you've mentioned the season 1 intro & outro music a bunch of times as well as choice to have a lack of real orchestral instruments for the intro, I thought I'd break down the credits a little. The OP is "Dream Solister" performed by TRUE (aka. Miho Karasawa), a singer who has primarily focused on anisong releases since 2004. I'd imagine it was recorded entirely separately from the rest of the music in season 1. The ED is "Tutti!" Written by ZAQ and arranged by Takada Akatsuki, with the Kitauji Quartet singing, aka the VAs for the four main girls shown. Like that you get Midori skanking as well, reckon given half the chance outside of band she'd happily go all rockabilly with her double bass, 'George'. Wind ensemble music for seasons 1&2 within the show itself were performed by the 2014 Freshman Wind Ensemble of the Senzoku Gakuen College of Music. Presumably session musicians were mostly likely used for "Tutti!" but it's not impossible to think these students might've participated in that recording as well.

Agree that it shouldn't be expected on seniority - However, in this series it seems that the senior Trumpet player was also very committed to the band and practice, so although she's made it I can feel sorry for her not getting the solos parts, and I wonder how that will shake out in the following episodes. p.s. really enjoying watching this through with you - as a piano player who was never involved in a band I have a good understanding of music and orchestras but not at all about the people dynamics etc.
