The death vocals are killer here!

As I have said before in the past, I have a soft spot for bands that only have 3 instrumentalists. SAISEIGA does such a good job of putting out an insane amount of sound.

I honestly believe I could use this band as a meditative guided experience.

Reagan and Tohko used to be in an all female band called Zettai Club whose sound was more on the power metal side.

I always regretted not asking Regan when I had the chance, was she a screamer / growler who realized she could sing, or was she a singer who realized she could scream? One has to come first, right? Watch Wakkun closely in the solo section and he will teach you another fancy guitar technique that is likely self-explanatory: Sweep Picking. He uses it a couple of times in the solo. He is the quietest rock star I ever met :p - uncomfortably shy. Tohko looks especially beautiful in this video ... I am not sure if that just happened or is on purpose but her cymbal work during the rain section is captivating. Katsuki waited a long time to receive this bass and had it shipped from overseas. I think this was the first video he used it in. You eyes should not hurt that much from new lenses. I have astigmatism and the curvature of the frames can have a big impact on vision comfort for me. On flat frames I can tolerate digital lenses but if the frames are curved I need to have the old fashioned non-digital type fitted ... just something I have learned over the years. I have a bit of a thing for frames and have a new pair of glasses made every year. Wait until you need bifocals ;) ... it comes with age at around 40.

Love Saiseiga! You were wondering about classical training, Tohko; the drummer; is a classically trained pianist and she writes a lot of the music for Saiseiga; as does Katsuki the bassist. Regan writes the lyrics for the band. BTW, Regan and Tohko were in an all female band 2gether called Zettai Club prior to Saiseiga. Also, Regan has a background in musical theater. Check out the song Hanabi (which means fireworks) by Saiseiga.

Lol ... you are the second person to mention Club Zettai ... we will have to recommend some ;) .

The intro here is an intro they use regularly for their live shows as far as I can remember. That actually reminds me I still have a streamed live set by Saiseiga I need to watch on Twitcasting before it goes away. I probably already won't have the time to watch my Nemophila set as is because they did a 4 hour set which I absolutely don't have time to watch (I "saved" it just in case), so I really have to make sure not to miss the Saiseiga one. They are generally really good live, Regan is a fantastic frontwoman and all the musicians are really good at what they do. And as others have mentioned, Regan and Tohko were in an all female gothic/symphonic power metal band with some progressive tendencies called Zettai Club. An other one of the members was one of the finalists when Lovebites was looking for their new bassist after Miho left. Gasshan (Ichinose) now does her own stuff by playing covers on youtube and she has a somewhat electronic influenced solo project where she plays bass and sings.

This is a sonic and theatrical presentation in a video. I can't possibly image what their live performances are like. After I change my pants it will take me a week in a dark corner trying to come to grips with what I heard and saw.

The thing I love about Regan is that her growl/frye is more of a complement and not the focus. Her clean contralto is so unique and her vibrato is very Japanese. Her voice is very warm.

BandMaidfanATL

All songs are 1/1. 😉😘 At least that always helped me. Fluxtuate the bmps and I am out.

... puts new pants for Bill on Christmas list :p .

Her cleans still amaze me.

BandMaidfanATL

Her cleans are so unique for me. Not sure if she is that unique in the Japanese scene overall, as her vocals seem to evolve more read Japanese inflections, but with a hard edge, but I love them.

Was that in person, or was that with BG?

P in D

They will be after anyway :p .

With BG. I wrote all the questions and I had tons for Regan ... i wanted to have a similar amount for everyone though. In my haste to do that I could not have some long list for Regan ... she was a very interesting interview. I could have gone on for a while. I chat a little with Katsuki on X but chat with Regan most.
