Does this mean we can start checking out some togenashi togeari songs/lives now that you are finishing the show 👀

I'll be honest, I'm mildly gutted that you're binging the rest of the show, only because it means there's no point in me drip feeding you information now each week (sans spoilers) and I did enjoy that degree of interaction, which was a little more consistent in occurring than the Discord and comments on music reactions. But I understand the desire to find out what happens without having to wait as long. Also if you want to blame me for recommending a show that hits you in the feels, I'll quite gladly bear that cross. This isn't even in my top three of emotionally devastating/cathartic anime shows that I both love and make me break down in places equally, though it certainly has it's moments. Really tempted to suggest you check out 'A Place Further than the Universe', an amazing single season standalone show which is written by screenwriter Jukki Hanada, who was also heavily involved in both Girls Band Cry and Sound! Euphonium. He also wrote the scripts for eleven episodes of K-On! and seven episodes of Chobits funnily enough. Rupa experiencing racism/discrimination from the two Japanese salarymen at work is because she's half Japanese and half South Asian, hence her darker complexion. Her laid back facade is in part a defence to try and prevent such things from escalating and visibly upset her. She's been through a lot between that side of things and losing her parents, which Tomo blurted out in her private chat with Nina in the previous episode. It's also implied that her mixed origins are one of the reasons she was so popular with their female fans wanting to purchase cheki/selfies after gigs with her; as aside from her friendly demeanor and leggy appearance, she also looks rather different from most of the other indie musicians playing at shows. From Nina's flashbacks in this episode it becomes apparent that her school was persuaded that her bullying wasn't as serious or one-sided as the reality and wanted to dismiss it as a disagreement that got out of hand. Hence trying to get her and the other girl to take equal responsibility and both apologise to each other. She couldn't accept that hypocritical injustice, so runs away from the meeting and locks herself in the school PA/radio room, blasting Momoka era Diamond Dust. Momoka has complex feelings about Diamond Dust, she was the one that talked the other members into going all out with the music career path, so she feels in someway responsible & guilty for everything they've gone through. The other original members respected her decisions and don't hate her/genuinely want her to do well, but it's obvious there's a degree of underlying distance created. As for the new singer/rhythm guitarist, Nina seems to recognise her, but there might be reasons why the impression is being given as not mutual. You'll find out soon enough with the binging.

Yep, you have the "we we're right" side of Momoka now, she didn't wanted to desguise herself as an idol and then, she quit her band, wanting to be true to herself. Nina knew that, and seeing Momoka quiting again, was watching Momoka admiting she was wrong, and that... that hurt Nina more than anything. Because Nina is true to herself now, she was "saved" by Momoka's song, then Momoka helped grow into the young woman she is now and the lead singer of a band she didn't knew she needed. Momoka saying that she saw her younger self and quiting the band, was like she didn't recognize what she have done, what she brought all along... Deniying herself and her influence over Nina and other fan. Man, I love these girls ^^. As for the "love confession", some say that is only between a fan and idol, some say it's only a friendship's one, my lsapphic heart would want to see another kind of love of course ^^. But Nina turning up the radio so Momoka could cry as much as she want without holding back, was very touching too. Also, since Nina have grown and changed, she isn't the same Nina she was in school, that why Hina said that she didn't know her.

I really enjoyed this week's emotional catharsis session.

I love Subaru...just that. I think one of the low points of this show is the excesive melodrama. Not at the level of drop, but sometimes goes too far. My two cents. Love the show thought.

No need to hold back, it's called Girls Band CRY for a reason :_; This is still one of my favorite episodes of any anime. From Momoka's backstory, to getting a peak at the discrimination Rupa faces, to Nina airing out her feelings, Diamond Dust getting to talk to Momoka, and finally Nina's confession of love. It was all brilliant :') "Are they trying to break me" Yes. Us too.
