Thank you for checking them again! They also played Cindella at the show I went to and 5 other songs (they were opening act and played for only 30mins) that I think i'm gonna request since you want to dive into that rabbit hole. I'll see them again for their tour final in their hometown on August 2nd and this time it will be a one man show 😁 Btw the name of the singer is Megumi but for some reason it is translated into Aimi by software probably because of the kanji used. Nichina does harmonize with Megumi live so I guess it's her on the recording too

Glad you are checking out Water Duckweed again. I know, the English translation of their name doesn’t do it justice😂 My reference point for Megumi’s vocal style is mid-century jazz pop. But it is probably more of a modern enka (Showa era) vocal influence. Suzuka of AG! has similar vocal stylings (“Otona Blue” is a perfect example). The artsy, indie, alternative scene in Japan is just phenomenal. You can spend months discovering new bands. And, yes, I will take this opportunity to once again suggest reacting to Suichu Spica’s epic masterpiece “Spica”. I had the joy of seeing them live this year. Even if it was a way too short 30+ minute set, it will probably be my favorite concert this year.
