...and here we are. The final episode. It's bittersweet, really.

I didn't want this anime to end. I wanted to see where the band would end up. I can only hope for a season 2 but after much research, I found that there is no plan for a second season.

It was a great fun, GBC. I loved this experience. Thank you all for this suggestion!

The new Band Maid song is another Killer Po!!

hey it's okay if u wanted more of girls band cry because now u can go check out their real life band 😁 since the voice actresses are the artists themselves. Their live shows are especially cool too. At this point I don't even know how many times I've watched this show over again (somewhere in the 10-15 range lol) whether it was by myself or with someone's reaction and I still get sad when things come to an end. But at least we still get to hear their music and watch their band grow

Are there any live videos of them performing? I would love to see that!

Now you know, you know why Nina's "I'm not wrong" is so rooted in her, she did what she was thinking was right, helped a girl being bullied, in return, she got bullied and even by the girl she helped, her friend told her she was wrong, she was asked to apologize by the bullies and the school, like she was in the wrong for helping someone... Feeling like the world is against you and the only think that help going throught that is music and a band, explain so much why Nina is Nina. She is a very interesting character to follow, broken in many way but still standing, they all are, that what make them stick together and do rock, music save life, in many ways.

The worst part is…I STILL see myself in her. The same shit happened to me in school and man did I struggle with my emotions as a young adult thinking the world was constantly out to get me. I’m glad I’ve matured and worked on those feelings, but I feel for her character.

hmm I don't know of any existence of their live shows (full versions) on youtube but i personally have the full stream of their 4th one-man live. but if you look up on youtube you'll likely find single songs that they performed at shows but let me know if you are interested in the full stream!

This show has a wrong start because of licencing issues, it was aired in Japan and some few other places but not in the rest of the world, so most people is this side of the world watch it in "other places". When Crunchyroll bought it most of us we already watch it and all the hype was lost. This hurt the show and for that it's very hard that will be a second season. Everybody who watched loves it, but the numbers are not there. Such a paralelism of the story of the final episode. To be an original anime not based on some other media (manga, ligth novel), it's difficult to create interest in continue the story. The finale is somewhat abrupt in my opinion. The author of the original story, she was apologizing for not giving more room to Rupa blaming Nina for being a pain in the ass...HA HA. Hope is not lost. Some shows returned after 5 o more years gap. Nittpic. I heard that you will continue with K-On. It's a great show and a classic, but I warn you, music is not that important in it. It is most a "slice of life" show. Cute girls doing cute things. There's music but very sporadic.

I am thinking about K-On. I’m not dead set on it. Look out for a post later this weekend. I would like to ask all of you here for your input on what to start next. …and yes!!! The end of the show seemed so abrupt and it felt like it left me with so many questions. It’s such a good show though, regardless.

Strictly speaking the chances of a second season aren't completely gone, but this style of animation isn't a cheap production so getting it greenlit (especially as an anime original IP) is an uphill battle (I've posted a short behind the scenes production clip in the Anime channel on Discord). They're releasing two compilation movies covering this season which also appears to possibly include some new footage, the first is called 'Rhapsody of Youth' and comes out in Japan on 3rd October 2025. Several TogeToge singles also feature short audio dramas/plays starring the band as bonus tracks, each running to approx. 30mins split across three parts (fan-subbed versions of these can be found on YT). Parts of the in-show arguing & banter was actually semi-improvised by the VAs during recording. There's a smartphone game that's been in official development since the end of August 2024. As others have said the initial launch lost a lot of momentum & hype because the international licensing was very poorly handled by Toei. It premiered on 4th April 2024 in Japan, saw a fragmented release with Indonesian streaming in May, Thailand in June, digital purchase release in the US in August and only got more widespread international streaming through Crunchyroll on 6th November. A lot of the OG fanbase got impatient and pirate streamed the show, which unfortunately also doesn't show up in official figures. The more sustained success of the show is the actual band Togenashi Togeari, made up of the voice actors, the first animated music video was released in May 2023 and they started doing live shows before it aired with their 1st one-man live show (later released under the title 'Prelude to Twilight') on 16th March 2024 (I've put some footage in the sub-only reaction suggestions on the Discord, alongside the MV of the same song for comparison). They perform their own instruments live and were auditioned as much for their musical chops as acting abilities. The music within the show (as well as everything released before & after) is all written by members of the 'agehasprings' music production studio, with Kenji Tamai as the primary song composer for the series and Yūsuke Tanaka handling most of the soundtrack accompaniments. Unfortunately, since 12th July 2024 Natsu (Tomo) and Mirei (Subaru) have been on indefinite hiatus from performing & promotion due to poor health; though they both returned to dubbing in April 2025. The remaining three members Nina (Rina), Yuri (Momoka) & Shuri (Rupa) have continued to perform shows with support drums & keys (one live featured Tamu Murata of Nemophila on drums). These gigs have been both solo shows, collabs with other bands and at anime conventions both domestically & internationally (Shanghai, Taipei & LA). One thing that has become apparent with newer footage, even on bootlegs, is how much more confident on stage they have become over time. They actually performed at Anime Expo 2025 in LA (their first US show) on 3rd July and for their 2nd anniversary show on 27th April they did a two-man bill with the VAs from Diamond Dust also appearing as their rivals. They've done several taibon/battle type shows with various bands from the BanG Dream! franchise ('MyGO!!!!!' in January and 'SheisLegend' in May), their biggest of these is the upcoming show with 'Raise A Sulien' on 7th December at Keio Arena Tokyo. They will also be playing at Nippon Budokan on 23rd September (just like Tomo & Rupa's goal in the anime adopted by the rest of the group).

TOGENASHI TOGEARI just played at the Anime Expo in Los Angeles on 7/3/25, there is a nice 30-minute 4K fancam of the concert. I watched a video of the bassist and drummer practicing and was impressed with how good they are for their age. I have my fingers crossed for a second season. Cheers.

I binged this show yesterday cuz I randomly saw a YouTube short with Subaru on the drums and seemed neat, then I saw you reacted to it and binged your reactions today 😂 Thank you. This is the first anime I’ve watched that was original and not adapted from a manga or light novel. Nina really had so much passion throughout the whole season. I could feel her pain; it was incredible—great VA. I’m glad you enjoyed it as much as I did, it was enlightening to hear your personal stories and perspective as an educator and flutist.

Thank you! I absolutely loved this anime. I now rewatch it at night before bed. 🤭 it’s just that good!
