Sorry this one is so late! I was getting ready for the Ghost concert tonight!

Who knew Yui could play by ear?! This is exciting!

I couldn't hear it clearly (4:10), but I'm pretty sure it's a pick-slide. Drag/scrape the pick along the string upward towards the headstock.

I totally forgot that Yui could play by hears, but that isn't so surprising with her. She is written a little bit like an autistic person. I don't say that in a bad way, but learning trouble, lack of interest except for one or two thing, having her own world in her head, that is the classic trope of autism in most media (even if they are exagerated in most of them), so the genious autist is another classic trope. But on another note (badumtss), I love how stylish the girls are, they are most of the time at school, so I rememebered weel their uniform, but I forgot how much they changer outfits during the show. This trip to memory lane is quite plaisant for now ^^. Next episode will be a fun one too and by the way, the song you heard on the cassette, their is a full version of it if you want. But I think we hear it more later, even if it's not the full song, let's just wait until this moment.

K-On is much more chill/low stakes than the other shows you've been watching and Mugi is a literal cheat code whenever they encounter something that would be otherwise beyond their means (though at least the bass amp Mio was playing through in the summer house practice studio was a Peavey combo more budget appropriate to their amateur level), screw reality they have Mugi. ;-) The performance elements have aged/dated a little compared with what anime has done to build on realism in newer releases (Sound Euphonium started 6yrs later), but it still totally makes sense how the fun aspect translated so well and helped drive a revival in light music clubs across Japan and led to an increase in non-classical instrument uptake for all genders.

I hope you have fun at the concert! We want a full report! I just got back from a Middle Eastern restaurant and a belly dancer! Lots of fun Po!

K-On just makes you feel good and they do do serious music while having fun. I am really glad you did this one. Yes, many people have drawn correlations between Mio and MISA.

That OST, Happy End reminds me of Daydream Believer (same...chord progression was it?)
